  1. "CD-Shell or a similar project" will not help any more for the case of USB-boot-device. CD Shell, Boot Script, Diskemu or Boot CD Wizard, all those use the bios extension of your mainboard, with the name "El Torito". They use the bios function call to oprate. If boot from usb-device, there is no such bios functions!!! USB-Boot uses the bios extension of the mainboard, but in compare with CD-Boot there is no standards/specifications of it. Every manufacturer of mainboards/bios can implement is own. That is why the bootable usb stick works only on a few mainboards/PCs, but not all. If someone (from Intel? at best not from M$) definds a specification which would be accepted by all the mainboard manufacturers, then we can programming some utils/tools as boot loader, so multiboot on ubs stick can come. At ther present we can also do something, if the current usb-boot-bios treat the usb device like a hdd: 1. partitioning the usb device 2. iinstall diff. OS on it 3. modifiy the mbr/install a boot manager on it you have the "multiboot usb device" , cheers.
  2. Tomorrow I will post it at a site(administrated by me) for free download, no volume limit.
  3. I think you and a few others misunderstand us. The most postings here are want to know which concrete features you tool has. All the misunderstood would not apear if you have included in your tool a readme.txt with a concrete feature list, or at least you have posted here in forum such things. I repeat this: we all highly appreciate your works, but we would like to know what zour tool can do concretely. Here is a list of the possible options of mkisofs.exe, please tell us how many and which concrete thing you have implemented: Usage: mkisofs [options] file... 4. please note that this forum is for "Multiboot-CD/DVD", not for "AIO"(all-in-one)-CD/DVD. But als IT-Expert I can give you some tips, anyway: 1. Install the free util "DaemonTools" 2. use the util "UltraISO" to create iso image files of your favourite cds 3. burn the image files (and daemontools) on DVD/DL-DVD 4. use DaemonTools to load/change the image files on DVD if required.
  5. what you said is the option in "nLite", please do not confuse the "nLite"-Setup with "Multiboot"-Setup!!!
  6. I think the beta3 of "cdimagegui.exe" can do much things, and since two and a half years. I'll find your tool still usefull if it can also set diffrent "hide-options"(not hidden options, but the ones which hide files, folders and boot catalogues etc.)
  7. Which readings? why?
  8. what is the usage of such floppies? With smart boot manager you only need one floppy and the usual boot cd, instead of hundreds of floppy in your case!
  9. you should do it "step by step" just like every new install: 1. burn your (jet not finished) unattended cd, without macromedia software, 2. install windows incl. all unattened software by using this cd on a empty partition, 3. install the tool "norton AutoInstall", run it, make a snapshot, donot close 4. install macromedia FX/adobe CS etc. 5. go back to "AI", make a compare and rebuild 6. integrate the created .exe into your unattended cd, 7. burn the finished windows unattended setup cd and have fun!
  10. Thr link: http://www.cdshell.org/hidecdsh.htm But the author said it was outdated info, without detailed explaination(why?) I think it could be one of the following: 1. In makeisofs.exe you can specify some file via option parameters to hide them or 2. This method may not work with the new version of cd shell.
  11. for create dos boot floppy, I've posted in the thread "how to create ms dos 6.22 boot floppies": http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=31131 also point out the dos version and file system (Fat16, Fat32)
  12. I think your tool(thou I have not 100% undestood what you really meen, but I could gess) is supperflous for all, who has read more than a few posts in this greate forum. At the website of "Boot CD Wizard" session FAQ the author recmanded this method to boot from a (ATAPI-)CDROM drive if your MB BIOS dose not support the CDROM-Boot: take a empty floppy and install the "smart boot manager" on it - that's all, no more floppy needed. This tip was quoted thousands times all over the world, at least 50 times in this forum.
  13. for dos application there is no such gerneric tool like resource-hacker etc. Most menus/tables were hardcoded! You cannot change the look except you have the source code and can recompile it. So without the cooperation of symantec programmers you've got a lost case. Upto v8.05 there is a chance to change the splash picture at the beginning - the files with filename extension .pqg(=pqmagic.pqg) is in fat a .bmp file, so I see your only chance is to replace it with your own. But take attention to the hor.&verti. mirrored image!
  14. Is this beta support ALL cmd line parameters/options?
  15. at the cd shell homepage there is a guide/docs(in appendix) for this aspect.
  16. because he've forgot to say "many thanks" so instead that just posted it tree times....
  17. thus it solves your problem with user specifical registeration info(keys etc.) because after runing the custom executable your compter will become the state "everything already installed". And it takes much less time in compare with the original install routine - a wellcomed by-effect.
  18. so you create the boot cd monthly? for the patch for MS-Software it is not neccessary to create a new boot cd, you can just install them!
  19. If you create your own boot cd you can also integrate some other software (not only for the boot/diagnostic) i.e antivirus/firewall/service packs/updates etc. on the bootable cd so that a maximun utilization of space could reachen and you do not need to keep too many diff. cds. In some cases it is just 5mb too large - then bcdw could be helpful.
  20. If someone does not have the software, then he asks that again and again...
  21. bootable image contains the regular software, which is copyrighted. Symantec took over the business of Powerquest since the end of last year.
  22. I think that should be already clear...
  23. I do not think the request of copyrighted software comforms the forum rules, no matter how many "thanks" or "please" you may offer.
  24. It could be problem with your MB bios, or the bios of your mass storage controller...
  25. the txtsetup.sif in \SETUP\2000\2000-PRO-SP4 should be deleted... at least the guide said so... and only the one(txtsetup.sif) in boot folder will be used during install...
