  1. Well... I just removed the weight from my MX500 as well... That was pretty simple. I'm just to chicken to open up my new G7.
  2. spenxa gets my vote. Everything just ties together so well.
  3. Yeah - I haven't tried to push this card too much faster. It is the card in my laptop, and downtime would suck on this. I don't need my desktop video card however... Apparently there's talk about getting the X1400 installed in the I6000 laptops. The core speeds are about what I'm overclocking too, plus a number of other features. I'm hoping that I'll be able to grab one of those at some point.
  4. @DL - Does the MX518 have side to side scrolling? Does the mod affect this in any way, or does it just make clicking down on the mousewheel easier?
  5. That didn't seem to work. I'm wondering if it's a security feature to not allow this type of occurance. I've got the icon entry in there as well, with a custom icon, but I think that's just for what shows up in My Computer when the drive is loaded.
  6. Moved to software Hangout. What does this have to do with XP?

Wheee!!!! Wheee!!!! I wonder what Opera would do. Sing really loudly maybe?
  8. Well... it sorta does end in a period. The question mark inside the quotes takes care of the end-of-sentence period, so the second one is redundant. Kinda like this... int main(void) { int x=0; { return 0; } return 0; } The second return statement will NEVER be executed. It's something that you'd never write in code, so why would you in english? (I know you'd never write something like what I just did - it's just an example. )
  9. @scubasteve - xampp is actually a very good package. It's very very easy to set up and configure. I was able to get Gallery up and running on a friend's computer in the space of about 15 minutes. I say go with xampp.
  10. I'm guessing that you're working with the Unattended Guide.... so I'm moving this to the Unattended section.
  11. @ripken - I don't think I'm that bad... I can usually get a 1.5:1 or 2:1 ratio in CS. Like I said before - the wireless connection of the G7 is NOTHING like the wireless intellimouse. I had one of those as well (actually - I still do... stupid piece-o-crap), but I ended up not using it at all because the lag got too annoying - even in Windows. If you haven't tried the G7, go down to your local retail store, and "test-drive" it for 7 days. Buy it, use it, return it (make sure the store has a no-questions asked policy). That's what I did last fall with the G7, and I was hooked. It's just that the retail store wanted $140 for it - which is a bit steep for any mouse. Also, the "sleep" mode for the G7 only kicks in after about 30 seconds. If you're not moving for 30 seconds, then you're a camper.
  12. Have you even looked at the forums or searched? Office Shrinker [reduce source of o2k3/xp/2k] Make sure you search next time. Chances are the answers you're looking for are out there.
  13. The Startup Control Panel also has the ability to move startup items from one location to another (i.e. from Startup folder->HKLM/Run). If you have two drives but must choose one or the other, then choose the faster of the two. If you can afford it, put a pagefile on both drives. Windows will take care of the rest for you.
  14. I just picked up a new USB key, and I'd like to put a simple VBS script on it to display the owner info when it is plugged into a USB port. Here is the content of my autorun.inf file: [Autorun] open=info.vbs And the contents of info.vbs: Msgbox "This USB key is the property of Nicholas Geraedts." & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & "If you have found it, please call XXX-XXX-XXXX." For some reason, the standard autorun window appears (asking me what I want to do). Is there something that I'm missing in order to make this work? Or is it simply not possible with removeable drives?
  15. Binary search should be fairly easy to implement. I don't have .Net 2005 installed here, but the general premise should be the same regardless of coding language. You can find the general algorithm here.
  16. The side button can be used for 'back' in Windows explorer or any browser, and like ripken said, the two buttons on top are for changing the sensitivity. As for all of you who say that there's lag with wireless mice - you should try this thing. There is ZERO lag - at least none as far as I can tell. I've been playing FarCry and CS and I haven't been doing any worse than before with my MX500. As for the Intellimouse being the best erogonomics, it's alright, but I still prefer the Logitech design to the Intellimouse. There just isn't enough of a grip with the thumb on the intellimouse. @DL - that's one mod that I wouldn't mind doing to the G7, but I'm afraid to take it apart...
  17. I'm doubting that you're getting interference from your speakers. The chances of them generating enough of a signal at exactly the frequency that your mouse runs at... I think you understand what I'm getting at. It'd be the same kind of argument as to why a wireless signal would cut out (and I haven't yet heard of speakers causing wifi dropouts). When you say craps out - do you mean for a good while, or just for a second? I notice that when the batteries on the G7 are low, then it starts acting wierd. It's just nice to not have a cord running across your desk. I've got a fairly deep desk, and having the cord reach towards where I sit would mean that it crosses about half of the desk. With a wireless mouse, there's no cord to deal with, and you can stash the base wherever you want. Anyways... this thing is SUPER smooth. It took a second to get used to how little I have to try to move it while I was playing FarCry.
  18. We've all seen pictures of the G7 in it's somewhat horrible green color, right? This is what I'm talking about Well... I just stopped by the local NCIX store, and they had the G7 for $69.99 CAD - so I figured, sure what the heck. This is what I got - (the middle one) Pretty slick, eh?
  19. Moved to Software Hangout.
  20. I haven't got a chance to burn anything yet, but the option of disabling Nero Scout is really nice. The only thing I'd really really like is to have an option of disabling the splash screen. Then it'd be pretty much perfect.
  21. AFAIK, if you just add a new user through something other than OOBE, then the default Administrator account should still be available.
  22. Wow... they have the option of disabling Nero Scout!
  23. NAT Routers only help when you're connected at home. I'd rather have a two way firewall for when I'm at university and connected to a rather unsecure network. You'd be amazed at how much random traffic there is here. I'm guessing that most of it is people on BitTorrent to be honest...
  24. Which version of XPLode are you using? I've never had any such problems, although I usually do most of my installs via cmdlines.
