I don't own it myself, but I've worked with it before. As long as you're not dealing with tons of drives (2 or 3 hard drives is manageable), then this case will do just fine.

But the problem stuck around even after leaving it off for 5 minutes, and then doing a hard reset! The entire unit was unresponsive for about an hour (with various lengths of time being unpowered) before I gave up for the night and left it unplugged. Finally, 6 hours later, I was able to get a WebGUI from it and flash back to Thibor (which I used at the time).

Excellent. Thanks for the info!

Fair enough, but as people read the posts that they come across, they can rate them. Whenever I get around to finding that Office 2003 SP2 slipstreaming guide the next time I need it, it's gonna get 5 stars.

Possibly using the 7600 like ripken said, but Intel is definitely the way to go for current performance and future upgradability. I think that keeps you under the $1000 limit.

I guess what I'm asking is where the packets themsevles travel to/from in a situation where you have ISP--ROUTER--SWITCH--COMPUTER1 \--COMPUTER2 if you understand my diagram.... If I'm sharing files between the two comptuers, does any traffic go to the router? The router-switch speed would be limited to 100Mbps, so if traffic goes to/from the router, the "1Gbps" speed of the computers and the switch is completely negated. I realize the wireless would be the slowest at the moment, but I'm hoping to make a fileserver, and I've already run into times where the network becomes a bottleneck transferring files to and fro.

I'm just wondering about my future network that I'm hoping to setup. I'd like to use gigabit ethernet for the wired network, but I'm happy with 802.11g for wireless, since that's what all my wireless computers use, and there aren't any major problems yet. I've got a WRT54GL, which I absolutely love, because of the stability and setup. I was hoping that I could add a gigabit switch to the network, and have the GigE devices connected to it. Would I be loosing all benefit of GigE because it's controlled by a 100Mbps device? Also - does a GigE network suffer from the same overall slowdown that wireless suffers from a mixed B/G network?

oy... how did you manage to get that? and how much does it cost per month?

I'm using Tomato right now, and having no troubles whatsoever! Over 4 months of uptime before I upgraded to v1.07! :thumup I had a scary experience with DD-WRT... the router seemed to work fine, but then just got slower, and slower...and slower. Ultimately, I couldn't do anything on the network. WebGUI was unavailable, internet connectivity was out. Oddly enough, the DHCP server was working just fine. I could connect and disconnect to the network - wired and wireless - without any trouble. I tried hard resetting it, no dice. I unplugged it, and tried again the next morning, and finally I was able to restor a different firmware on there. I've had no issues with Thibor or Tomato. *touch wood*

I was also going to suggest this. Faulty PSUs often don't tell us when they're on the verge of dying. On the other hand - those temperatures are far too high! Try re-seating your heatsink and make sure you're not using too much thermal paste. Forget about the RAM right now people - there's other things that are far more important (like temperatures). After we've got the cooling situation down, then he can test his RAM if he wants. Like noguru said, the restarts are due to overheating.

Glad to hear it worked. Just a word of warning - I never use a registry cleaner. In my experience, they cause more harm than good, and the performance benefits are negligible at best.

Just a question that you might not have considered - would the PCI-E x8 really be the bottleneck for a system while using the 975 chipset? Personally, I just wouldn't mix nVidia and ATI, but one is a chipset and the other is a video card. If both parties have written their drivers correctly, there shouldn't be any showstoppers.

Isn't it possible to just create the addresses as the HTML pages, but with the anchor names as part of the address? (e.g. - post.html#603123) Each post has it's PID as an anchor, doesn't it?

Try using Dial-A-Fix to repair the Windows Installer. http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix

My e-speakers are larger than your e-speakers. Aside from what's built into the car's systems, computers shouldn't be in cars. Hey gamehead... does your sub always point towards the rear? Or do you use your car for tailgate parties a lot?

I'd rather drive fast than drive slow and be on the computer. The laptop is extra weight you know... more weight=slower!

I guess the two stars is supposed to signify 2.5 rounded off - a neutral vote. You're right though, in that we can't vote for zero, so if a topic hasn't been voted for, zero should be the default. I'm sure that this can be changed fairly easily.

I'm really excited about this (as most people are about their first car), so I figured I'd share the excitement here on MSFN. I've been looking for a car that would get me from A to B, but still have character and some kick under the right foot. After looking around, I came in contact with a really nice guy who was selling his Prelude SR. I had it checked out by BCAA (British Columbia Automobile Association), since they have a vehicle inspection team, and overall, it came out pretty well. Some minor work on the brakes and a new CV boot (the joints are fine), but otherwise, everything else was in good shape. Being the audiophile that I am, I didn't want to deal with an FM transmitter for my iPod and have the possibility of someone else's transmitter messing up my music. I've actually heard my friends have this problem, so I looked at alternatives. I found an adaptor for my JVC stereo that lets me not only play music directly into the stereo, but it lets the stereo control the iPod. A picture is worth a thousand words, so check it out here! http://www.zxian.org/gallery/v/prelude/

What Are Some Bad Temp Ranges I Should Be Looking Out For?
Zxian replied to Brando569's topic in Hardware Hangout
Just be warned - when you lower VCore too much, you might run into stability troubles. I'd run a few bouts of Prime95 for at least 12 hours to make sure that everything is still alright. It probably will (you can generally undervolt stock AMD's a fair bit), but you'll want to make sure. I'd also just recommend getting a decent sized case and an aftermarket watercooling system - if you're really that crazy. To me - water and computers should never mix... but that's just me. I'd personally get the Antec P182. It's an improved version of the P180, and it's got built in holes for watercooling tubes out to a radiator if you care to go that way. -
Wow... that's really wicked! Most air-conditioning systems remove the moisture out of the air anyways, so condensation shouldn't be too much of an issue. It's definitely a solution that I think we can all appreciate!

Like xper said, we can't always have complete control over what people do, but what you've said is actually part of the rules already. We try to encourage members to search for their answers before posting, but unfortunately, many don't do this. One of the ways that other members can help this problem is by helping us encourage people to search first. If you do this, please do it in an encouraging manner, and without making the new members feel unwanted or stupid. We want to invite people to the forums, right?

Howto: Download Youtube and Google Videos

Really cool idea, but it doesn't work for me in Opera. Hopefully someone will make it work. -
Keep up the good work Kel. I'll have to actually get around to using this someday...
