I use Filemon and Regmon for monitoring software registration, but it's not easy because they record every single activity on your computer. There is a trick on viewing the log files in Excel so you can sort the entries, but I don't know how to do it.

Hello 1to1. How come it's not working for you? What commands are you using? It should work with the normal msi switches. start /w picasa2.msi /qn

You have to add a space, because those are different switches.

You can even make your own, based on the original.

I think 32 bit icons can be used in 9x systems. If not, Axialis can create a 256 color icon format for you.

What I normally do is I edit the icon file itself, and I delete all the 256 color and 16 bit format using an icon editor. So the lowest quality will still be Windows XP icon type. edit: delete all the 8 bit icon formats also. Try Axialis Icon Workshop. It's really good for modifying/creating icons. Then hack the *.cpl file directly and insert your icon.

Well, yes if you're using ISTools or the other similar program. I tried it before, but all I can say is I'm still better on msi's.
