I booted into my second Windows XP partition one hour ago. The last version of my definitions was 1.0.29432. So for now, updating of definitions is working. BTW, the topic in Malwarebytes forum will be closed soon. I am no longer interested to talk to such moderators as Porthos or AdvancedSetup. I have left an appropriate closing comment after all these kind words.

The support for Malwarebytes Premium 3.5.1.2522 has already been dropped for years. No new program updates! As far as I correctly understood and I asked there directly, they want to drop the definition updates (what you call pattern updates) for this version. Look in "my" thread there whatever my thread means in that forum! I think my thread is more their thread!

Reading all this, it seems that Malwarebytes will indeed stop supporting Windows XP and Vista very soon, unfortunately. Read these sources: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/295844-legacy-3512522-sudden-red-triangle-your-updates-are-not-current/#comment-1558895 https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/296406-windows-xp-does-not-have-lifetime-support/#comment-1561182 https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/144824-malwarebytes-commits-to-lifetime-support-for-xp-users/ Anyway! No good news!

XP (and Vista) users should really keep an eye on that thread ; things look grim ... The opening post there displays a picture of what Dave described in a previous post here: However, this time the MB staff aren't interested in "resolving it"; according to the reporter (and confirmed by a staff member), Malwarebytes Premium Legacy 3.5.1.2522 can no longer receive def updates under Vista/Win7 - thanks to user feedback in this thread, we do know XP installations still receive these ; but all the MB staff can, apparently, do is endlessly recite ad nauseam the "inherent perils of running Microsoft unsupported Windows versions like XP/Vista ; as per @Imacri's post 3hr ago, MB staff have started wiping out Forum references to "Malwarebytes support for legacy Windows XP and Vista Operating Systems"; what comes next ? OT: @mina7601; Since you seem to have a Vista SP2 VM installed, could you be so kind as to try MB Legacy 3.5.1.2522 there and check whether its defs can be updated? Thanks in advance ... I didn't want to miss the opportunity to post a statement about Malwarebytes and what's going on there in the aforementioned thread: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/296406-windows-xp-does-not-have-lifetime-support/#comment-1561182 In case of deleting my comment, I made a picture from my statement: Cheers, AstroSkipper

My Browser Builds (Part 4)

I do not block anything in New Moon 28 regarding Glarysoft. Both, uBlock Origin and eMatrix have been configured to allow all access to this site. BTW, same problem in Serpent 52. All horses back! You were right! I tested everything more deeply. The problem is uBlock Origin, which blocked the addthis.com page. addThis -> no built-in JavaScript object. In any case, this made these menus inaccessible. Thanks for the tip! -

No problem here with eMatrix in New Moon 28 on VirusTotal! And I use eMatrix together with uBlock Origin. -
According to an answer in Malwarebytes' Support Forum, the component package updates are updates to the Kernel in how the software integrates with signatures and associated detections, heuristics and other constructs. Have a look here: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/287375-what-does-the-component-package-do/ If I were you, I would perform a fresh reinstall of Malwarebytes. Or a repair install. And backup your exclusions first! The component package version should be 1.0.365.

Although Malwarebytes announced lifetime support as a nice present for Windows XP users, I came across this thread in their forum: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/295844-legacy-3512522-sudden-red-triangle-your-updates-are-not-current I really hope this doesn't concern Windows XP. At the moment, updating of Malwarebytes Premium 3.5.1.2522 works. Yesterday, the update package version was 1.0.29410 which was updated to 1.0.29412 a little later. Today, it was updated to 1.0.29420. Here is a screenshot: So we can see Malwarebytes Premium 3.5.1.2522 is still supported under Windows XP. Whether the lifetime support is really true, we will have to wait and see. One could also ask what lifetime is actually supposed to mean here. As long as the company "Malwarebytes" lives? Or the user?

The website of Glarysoft doesn't work properly in New Moon 28 and Serpent 52. When you open the link https://www.glarysoft.com/, the buttons Products, Downloads, Support and Company don't work. This is the output of the Web Console: ReferenceError: zE is not defined[Weitere Informationen] www.glarysoft.com:361:3 <anonym> https://www.glarysoft.com/:361:3 ReferenceError: addthis is not defined[Weitere Informationen] index.js:18:3 <anonym> https://www.glarysoft.com/js/index.js:18:3 l https://www.glarysoft.com/js/jquery.min.js:2:16991 fireWith https://www.glarysoft.com/js/jquery.min.js:2:17783 ready https://www.glarysoft.com/js/jquery.min.js:2:12502 A https://www.glarysoft.com/js/jquery.min.js:2:9907 getPreventDefault() sollte nicht mehr verwendet werden. That's awesome to know you have that working on your system. Thanks! And yep! It's been a couple of years now that I couldn't get Malwarebytes Premium 3.5.1.2522 to work in my Windows XP system. And even MBAM's support couldn't help to fix this issue. Today I thought to try it the last time. I had to dig deep into my system and removed all the remnants of old security programs and others, including a manual cleaning of my registry. Apparently, it did something.

Hello @Dave-H! I finally got Malwarebytes Premium 3.5.1.2522 working in my second system partition. I updated it, and the version of its definitions is 1.0.29410 I received today, 28-03-2023. Do you have the same version in your installation? Is that the most recent? I had a look at the MBAM forum and read some comment (also some of yours ). There I found this topic: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/295844-legacy-3512522-sudden-red-triangle-your-updates-are-not-current/#comment-1558895 It seems that Malwarebytes wants to completely discontinue support for version 3.5.1.2522, even under Windows XP. No further update of the definitions!? What do you know and think about this? Cheers

My Browser Builds (Part 4)

I totally agree! Errare humanum est! One of my favourite Latin sayings! BTW, I do and did not have any problems to be proved wrong. As a mathematician I see evidence for what it is. And this is never about sensitivities or subjective feelings, and it doesn't matter what kind of matter. In any case, you could see in my screenshot what I did. And that was important to me. Cheers, AstroSkipper -

Very good proof! As a mathematician, I appreciate such proofs. Obviously, you're absolutely right, and I am wrong. And maybe, I am a bit dement, hopefully a bit! I am not the freshest one, though. -

No problem! But my post already contained the sceenshot as it is when it went live the first time as far as I can remember correctly at least. Or am I a bit dement due to my age? Or maybe, you just overlooked it. Anyway! It's not the world either as we say here in Germany. -

... Did you remember to also toggle "dom.getRootNode.enabled" to "true"? These prefs are actually a "wedded couple", so to speak - if one is set to true, the other has to be set to true, too - and vice versa ... That's why I provided a screenshot in my post above. Didn't you see my preference settings in the extra window? The image actually speaks for itself. Additionally, I had inserted red arrows. Since we have discussed here the settings of dom.webcomponents.enabled and dom.getRootNode.enabled, I do control them that way. If both are set to false, the lamp goes on. If both are set to true, the lamp goes off. The lamp is in the toolbar to the right of my red CSP button. Don't let the many buttons confuse you! My browser configuration is very special and also a little more complex than usual. Here is my screenshot once again: I've already tested it again. Now both, Web Components and Palefill enabled, are working on VirusTotal. Very strange! Anyway! Thanks for summing up all essential facts! You know I read this thread as attentively as possible. And your posts in particular! And @roytam1's and @UCyborg's ones, too, of course! -
In my main system partition, I'll stay with Panda Dome in any case. In my second system partition, I'll give Qihu 360 Total Security Essential 8.8.0.1119 a try, based on my positive experience so far. I generally prefer lightweight antivirus programs. Avast and AVG are too bloated, very resource-hungry and cumbersome. I have had that pleasure in the past. But what can I say? Cheers, AstroSkipper
