  1. And still this belongs to the actual merging command ( which is yet to be written). I know I was to talking in the relation to CMSORT in case someone else will use it to dedupe these sections.
  2. Thank you It seems to be OK now. There is still this problem with [WatsonManifestMode.Cancel] which causes lines in [strings] to be divided into two separate sections. You can see it if you process this update.inf through your script. BTW, I did this :CMSORT TOOLS\cmsort.exe /D /H=2 SPLIT_update\%CMSORT% SPLIT_update\CMSORT\%CMSORT% IF EXIST SPLIT_update\CMSORT\[1ndex]update.inf DEL/Q SPLIT_update\CMSORT\[1ndex]update.inf IF EXIST SPLIT_update\CMSORT\*Add.Reg]update.inf DEL/Q SPLIT_update\CMSORT\*Add.Reg]update.inf IF EXIST SPLIT_update\CMSORT\*AddReg]update.inf DEL/Q SPLIT_update\CMSORT\*AddReg]update.inf xcopy/Y SPLIT_update\CMSORT\%CMSORT% SPLIT_update\ ECHO. instead of IF "%CMSORT%"=="[1ndex]update.inf" GOTO :EOF Add.Reg sections also shouldn't be sorted and deduped as newer updates may update the older ones. After using CMSORT their order may be wrong.
  3. Could you try slipstreaming only IE6 cabs and UR2-v3? I've just done a test: and the result is triedit.dll 6.1.0.9235.
  4. This update is not officially available for download from M$ (it exists only as a KB article). The one above is an unofficial update.
  5. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919521 If you don't like to edit the registry manually you can use this unofficial hotfix: Windows2000-KB919521-x86-Global.exe (467 KB)
  6. Vista drivers won't work for sure You need the ones for XP. The application probably won't work so it would be better to try installing only the drivers through Device Manager.
  7. Some time ago I managed to install a newer Logitech camera using XP drivers. I had to unpack them and use Device Manager to manually search for files. They were located in several different folders but finally the camera started to work, except for the internal microphone. If there are no drivers for 2K I suggest trying to force installation of the XP ones through Device Manager.
  8. Here you go for BWC's ATI Radeon drivers http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/archives/571484.html
  9. My2GirlsDad, I know about this triedit.dll problems. It is caused by HFSLIP. Please make sure that before running HFSLIP you remove the following files: HFCABS\_IE6_HFSLIP.CAB HFCABS\_IE6b_HFSLIP.CAB HFCABS\_OE6_HFSLIP.CAB They are temporary files created by HFSLIP in order to slipstream IE/OE 6. The problem is that they mess the dates of these files and the older version of triedit.dll gets slipstreamed because of that. After running HFSLIP you should check file version of triedit.dl_ (unpack it first) from i386\. I had the same problem with triedit.dll but after removing these files the proper version gets slipstreamed. Be aware that they are created each time you run HFSLIP (if IE6 cabs are present) so you ought to delete them also each time before running HFSLIP. You may also try using the beta of UR2-v3 which I optimised especially for compatibility with WU. Windows2000-KB891861-UR2-v3-BETA-x86-ENU.exe (pass: msfn) UR2-v3 has also the following improvements: - KB908531 is marked as installed (although the verclsid.exe file itself is just a dummy file, not used by the system) - ocsasnfix.exe is included (you had this one in your HFSLIP log, it's not necessary anymore ) There are also more fixes and new updates but I'm going to explain everything in details when the final version is ready. You can check eula (update\eula.txt) for a full list of updates included in UR2-v3-BETA. NO updates are available through WU after the installation of UR2-v3
  10. Sp0iLedBrAt, I send a message to artur72 with a long explanation about SNM in Polish RyanVM's packs don't contain language packs. That's one reason why SNM is more flexible.
  11. and Silent .NET Maker for .NET up to 3.5 (except 4.0) in order to make .NET silent installer.
  12. No You're right. The reg.exe from 2K support tools works. I was confused because of the one available at http://www.petri.co.il/download_free_reskit_tools.htm which doesn't work.
  13. Everything needed is in this topic. You will need "reg.exe" from XP (the one from 2K won't work).
  14. Yes I did a test especially to check if Script 5.7 (scripten.exe) can be slipstreamed from HF. No problems occured.
  15. An emty file "2.53" gets created because of this line: ; These files are installed even if MDAC > 2.53 is present. It's just an explanatory note I wrote. This line HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion","Plus! ProductId" is changed to HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion","Plus ProductId" "!" is gone. Also this update.inf has many informative strings starting with ; and it gets messed pretty badly after running your script
  16. I managed to get it work with Dropbox direct links Dropbox allows you to use direct links for files located in "Public" folder. I don't think there are any other FREE hosting sites that allow it. The download speed is not very fast but still seems to work flawlessly.
  17. Thank you Although Avira seems to perform a different Windows edition check and still refuses to install, I managed to run Avast 6.0 installer with no problem.
  18. I think I found a solution to add Server-only updates to UR2. The problem here is not the Rollup itself but HFSLIP which slipstreams all files even though some of them may be only for Server. I'm thinking about some kind of bypassing, i.e. Sever-only files would be removed after slipstreaming if the OS is Win2k Pro.
  19. KB958471 updates only the files related to MSTSC. It doesn't add anything to the registry. I'm actually thinking about adding the whole new RDP (KB958471 & KB958470) to UR2, not just the registry fixes. What do you think about it? To check version of RDP you may try checking the file "mstsc.exe".
  20. Have you tried the official driver for XP? It might work if installed through Device Manager. If it doesn't work, then the ultimate solution is BlackWingCat's modified driver.
  21. The Windows Update issue in Update Rollup 2 is solved. I still need to do more tests but it seems that there was a bug in the original UR1. One file responsible for executing commands (spupdsvc.exe) was not copied and because of that the installation was incomplete. WU would not see the updates as installed. Now everything seems to be O.K. I remade UR2 once again using jaclaz's script. Most of the 'dirty work' is done automatically so there is less place for human (read: my) mistakes I want to do more tests first before uploading the new version (v3). It should be available in a few days. EDIT More info: Windows Update works perfectly but Automatic Updates don't. I don't want to waste time to investigate this thing as it has very little use after EOL. Especially if you use unofficial updates you MUST NOT use Windows Updates at all. At this point I just decided to remove Automatic Updates service. Windows Update (accessed through IE) still works.
  22. Actually I haven't found any other problems except this one KODAK_DIR = "Windows NT\Accessories\ImageVue"@i:@u: [WatsonManifestMode.Cancel] which I mentioned above
  23. I wonder if there is any (still updated) free AV that can be installed on a Server edition of Windows 2000. The only one I know that works 100% correctly is ClamWin but it's only an on-demand scanner. I tried installing Rising Free Antivirus but the system became unresponsive and I had to uninstall it using Safe Mode. Avira and Avast cannot be installed (they work only on Win2k Pro). The newest AVG doesn't work on Win2k at all. Do you know about any other free AVs that can be used on a Server edition of Windows? As for firewalls I'm using the older version of Comodo (2.4) as it's the last one that works on Win2k. In the past I tried several different ones but (as far as I remember) there were some issues with them. Outpost Security Suite seems to be compatible with Win2k but the free edition cannot be installed on Win2k Server. If you know about any other decent free firewalls for Win2k, please share the information
  24. I quckly checked your list of updates and I can say for sure that this one is obsolete.
  25. I found a freeware program called CMSort which is able to sort files and remove duplicates from them. cmsort.exe /D 1.txt 1.sor The problem is that the file has to be specified, i.e. it doesn't seem possible to use it for multiple files at once. I wonder if it is possible to modify your script to have it sort all files in %Split_dir% one by one as they are created. EDIT Once again I tried to use the HFSLIP string mentioned in the beginning of this topic @ECHO OFF IF EXIST SPLIT_update\*.inf ( MD SPLIT_update\CMSORT DIR/B/A-D/OGN/ON SPLIT_update\*.inf>CMSORT.TXT SET CMSORT= FOR /F %%I IN (CMSORT.TXT) DO (SET CMSORT=%%I&IF DEFINED CMSORT CALL :CMSORT) DEL/Q/S CMSORT.TXT ) IF NOT EXIST SPLIT_update\*.inf ( EXIT ) :CMSORT cmsort /D /H=2 SPLIT_update\%CMSORT% SPLIT_update\CMSORT\%CMSORT% xcopy/Y SPLIT_update\CMSORT\%CMSORT% SPLIT_update\ ECHO. IF NOT EXIST CMSORT.TXT ( RD/Q/S SPLIT_UPDATE\CMSORT ) The only problem is that [1ndex]update.inf should be excluded from sorting as it contains list of sections in their original order. EDIT jaclaz, there is strange line in KB918118, KB925902, KB926247, KB927891, KB928843, KB935839 for Win2k. In [strings] the last line is KODAK_DIR = "Windows NT\Accessories\ImageVue"@i:@u: [WatsonManifestMode.Cancel] Because of this [strings] & [WatsonManifestMode.Cancel] get mixed when processed by your script.
