UURollup-v3 (ENU) is ready. I have fixed a bug causing Wordpad files being copied to a wrong folder. I've also added a few newer versions of updates and also two files from Windows Server 2003 (ntdetect.com & ntldr) which can make system booting a little faster (1-2 seconds). Lucius, could you try the new version? I think your problem may be fixed in this one. By the way, please use

Everything installs correctly on my test machine so I'm sure there're no mistakes regarding the .cat files in the update.inf. I'm sorry but I asked for a wrong log filename Of course it's not UURollup-v3.log but UURollup-v2.log (%systemroot%\UURollup-v2.log). Could you try to look for it once again? By the way, did you check if MD5 matches?
-
Could you be more specific? Which .cat files couldn't be installed? It'd be nice if you showed a print screen of the error and upload the log file (%systemroot%\uurollup-v3.log).

Which one do you mean??

I think this is important information: The shell32.dll from BlackWingCat's kernel completely breaks the 32-bit icon support from WildBill's 2479628. You should be very careful because some icons are not even visible when you install the kernel (with shell32.dll) on a machine with 2479628 installed. The two are just not compatible with other.

Mim0, I've got a question concerning KB982316. I think it may be the same case as KB2603381, i.e. the registry changes are done through a customization dll so the update must be slipstreamed from SW1. Could you check it when you have some free time?

You can run Process Explorer (15.13) without fixing this dependency. I haven't seen any errors because of it You only need to fix the one related to credui.dll & advapi32.dll.

or just use the AquaSnap application I mentioned above I know that some people may not like to use external programs for such things but, really, this one eats less than 1MB of RAM: and offers actually more functionality than Windows 7 Aero.

HBRs are generally OK. If you look at Service Packs you can see that they are mostly combined of such hotfixes. Especially this one (2681116) is just a registry change so there's very little possiblity of being buggy (which can be the case if there're some untested .dlls, etc.).

I guess I'll need to check this iphlpapi.dll & iphlpaxp.dll once again You set the kernel incompatible with IE5, right? Is it because of shlwapi.dll? Why not use xpsp2_binarydrop and keep the compatibility? [ProductInstall.Conditional] FileCondition = IE6SP1.Files.Conditional [IE6SP1.Files.Conditional] InstallFromSection = IE6SP1.Files Operation = CheckFileVer, browseui.dll, >= , 6.0.0.0 TargetFromSection = System32.Files CopyFlags = SP_COPY_FORCE_NEWER [IE6SP1.Files] CopyFiles = IE6SP1.Cache.Files CopyFiles = IE6SP1.System32.Files [IE6SP1.System32.Files] shlwapi.dll, xpsp2_binarydrop\shlwapi.dll [IE6SP1.Cache.Files] shlwapi.dll, xpsp2_binarydrop\shlwapi.dll
-
Hmm, do they depend on each other? I've checked dependencies and it doesn't seem to be linked to iphlpapi.dll: By the way, how about SetSHF.exe and _kernel32.dll? What's their role?
-
Thank you very much, BlackWingCat What is iphlpaxp.dll for?

I have uploaded UU Rollup v2. I've removed the custom update 2347290 because, after all, it's not a UU I'll include it in the upcoming Unofficial Update Rollup 2.

I've been using an Android tablet myself (Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9') and I like it although it's still far from perfect. Especially the UI is very slow and the available apps are also not ideal, especially the office related ones. And I need to learn Linux first in order to be able to go deeper into it. By the way, Android 3.x (Honeycomb) is not open source

I guess it depends on your needs. iOS is such a closed system that you can't even customise anything without hacking/jailbreaking it, you can't synchronise your files effectively using anything other than iTunes, etc. I'd never use such a device myself. Windows 8 looks like open source compared to it

Still Windows 8 powered tablets look very promising

How about disabling/removing this line in IE.IN_ from FDV filelist? Of course it must be done before slipstreaming HKLM,"Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx\101","003",,"%11%\comctl32.dll|DllInstall|I"

It's always good to know that there's someone interested in these packages I've started working on a new version of Update Rollup 2. This is just a very first alpha. I'm sure there are some bugs in it. UR1 is not yet included. Windows2000-UR2-ALPHA1-x86-ENU.exe (27 MB) Details:

BlackWingCat, Could you give an example of such a new component that doesn't work? -
It's time to revive this topic I've prepared the Unofficial Updates Rollup (see #1 post). It's available for ENU & Global (non-ENU) systems. The difference between the two is that there are more (English-only) updates included in the ENU version. I managed to merged the two kernels - WB kernel & BWC kernel meaning that I chose compatible files from both of them and added them to the Rollup (ENU). Now it's no longer necessary to choose between the two. You can use the Rollup as long as you've got SP4 & UR1 installed. Because both unofficial kernels are included you don't need to install any other unofficial updates or other packages before installing the UU Rollup. Of course you can also slipstream it as it's 100% compatible with HFSLIP. The next two big packages I'm focused on are a new version of the HBR Rollup & a new version of UR2. After that I can focus on USP6. Please tell me if there are any problems with the UU Rollup.

EDIT: From this moment all information about everything I do will be available here & here. EDIT: There was a small bug in BETA5. Please use BETA5a instead. I've prepared a BETA5 of Unofficial Updates Rollup. I've only fixed some bugs. This one is very likely to be the final version. Windows2000-UURollup-BETA5a-x86-Global.exe (20 MB)

Unofficial Updates Rollup (BETA4) ready. I've added Services, True Type Fonts (TTF) Pack and Script 5.8. There was also a mistake in all previous versions - the official 972270 is not replaced by the rollup. And I think I haven't mentioned it before but of course UU Rollup is fully compatible with HFSLIP. Windows2000-UURollup-BETA4-x86-Global.exe (20.3 MB)

I think I checked Kaspersky some time ago but some drivers installed by it were incompatible with W2K. Those can't really be fixed by KDW. I'm not 100% sure about it though. I think I'll check Kasperky once again On the other hand, the driver incompatiblity thing is true for Comodo for sure.
