Did you download only ENU files or does your archive cover all languages? I have found an EXTREMELY easy way to download single updates in all supported languages. 1) Create a text file, ex. "download.txt" and put this in it: http://www.microsoft.com/zh-cn/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/zh-tw/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/cs-cz/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/da-dk/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/nl-nl/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/fi-fi/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/de-de/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/el-gr/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/hu-hu/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/it-it/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/ja-jp/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/ko-kr/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/nb-no/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/pl-pl/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/pt-br/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/pt-pt/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/ru-ru/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/es-es/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/sv-se/download/confirmation.aspx?id= http://www.microsoft.com/tr-tr/download/confirmation.aspx?id= 2) Create a CMD file, ex. "download.cmd" and put this in it: SET KBNUM=9110 SET BROWSERPATH=D:\Programy\Firefox\Firefox.exe FOR /F "tokens=* delims=" %%I IN (download.txt) DO "%BROWSERPATH%" %%I%KBNUM% You should change the KBNUM and BROWSERPATH values according to the downloaded update and the browser you're using. 3) Run the script (download.cmd). It will automatically open the links in the browser and you will be able to easily download all of them. 4) In order to get the KBNUM you just need to open the main page of each update, ex. for KB952954 it is: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=9110 In this case the number will be "9110". Limitations: ARA, HEB and JPN-NEC updates cannot be downloaded in this way. Edit: Update!

USB functional patches for Win2000 after SP4 and R1
tomasz86 replied to pointertovoid's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
It may be old but nothing has changed since then so it's still relevant and will probably be relevant in the future too unless someone manages to replace/modify the files in order to make them compatible with USB3.0 drivers. -
Yes, they can Theoretically they only have to provide security fixes which means that all non-security stuff which is still available for XP can be either removed or the access to it can be restricted only to those who paid for it.
-
If someone really wants to download the files then you should do it RIGHT NOW. M$ has been removing files very quickly. Some links which I used a few days ago no longer work today...
-
@whitevandal I think that Classic Shell will do what you want.
-
Someone should start downloading XP/2003 updates and back them up somewhere like I've been doing with Win2k related files.

@blackwingcat These lines DO NOT work: "regsvr32 /s sccsccp.dll" "regsvr32 /s msftedit.dll" The log file: 12.137: Starting process: regsvr32 /s sccsccp.dll 12.167: Return Code = 4 12.207: Starting process: regsvr32 /s msftedit.dll 12.227: Return Code = 4

I wonder if the files from Windows Thin PC (trial link here) work too. The ISO is much smaller (just 1,5 GB) than regular Windows 7 so people with slower Internet connections may prefer to download it in order to get the required files instead of downloading the normal ISO. Of course I'm talking about those who don't own a copy of Win7. My guess is that the files will work but haven't tested it.

Java 6 Update 32 fails to install...
tomasz86 replied to ppgrainbow's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
@Yffffonz 1. If nothing unexpected happens then the next version of UURollup with BWC kernel will be probably released on 30th September 2012. A detailed release plan of UURollup is explained in the very beginning of the main USP5.2 topic. Of course, Daily & Weekly versions will be available much earlier. 2. At the moment UURollup (ENU) is incompatible with BWC kernel. If you install the two together then the system will likely not start (but safe mode should work). Only UURollup (Global) can be used with BWC kernel, and of course Update Rollup 2 is also compatible with BWC kernel. 3. I've always been testing installation over the previous version of UURollup so it shouldn't be a problem to just leave the old one and install the new one over it. Uninstallation is actually pretty risky, especially if you've installed other updates/programs in meantime. When the new version using BWC kernel is ready it should be also possible to install it over BWC kernel but I can't guarantee that yet. -
You need to use the Wayback Machine Some of them do work: http://web.archive.org/web/20070129090246/http://download.microsoft.com/download/c/3/4/c34d9eee-a30f-4401-b35f-ab66d682c5ec/Windows-KB909520-v1.000-x86-ELL.exe http://web.archive.org/web/20070216051346/http://download.microsoft.com/download/d/0/9/d094e803-479d-432c-843d-74d9fd98ff5e/Windows-KB909520-v1.000-x86-ENU.exe http://web.archive.org/web/20060212125557/http://download.microsoft.com/download/c/b/1/cb128eda-a65e-4894-a727-ed782bf17c24/Windows-KB909520-v1.000-x86-FRA.exe http://web.archive.org/web/20060110084951/http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/8/9/1893b220-15a7-496b-bad7-af4953bb46e6/Windows-KB909520-v1.000-x86-ITA.exe http://web.archive.org/web/20061019184658/http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/4/d/e4dd6c2d-433f-47df-a86a-ebbcb45e0330/Windows-KB909520-v1.000-x86-RUS.exe

BlackWingCat has managed to run .NET Framework 4.0's msbuild.exe: http://oldcigaret.info/win2k/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=721&p=3186#p3186 It means that after the transition to BWC kernel in UURollup is done I'm going to focus on the .NET Framework packages once again. This time I'm going to keep them separated because it's easier to test and track bugs in them then. They will be merged automatically to reduce the size before adding them to USP 5.2 but I'm still going to maintain separate packages.

Java 6 Update 32 fails to install...
tomasz86 replied to ppgrainbow's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
@conductor71 There's no simple answer to your question Simply speaking, there exist several different ways how you can update your system. If you don't want to mess around too much then I'd recommend choosing one of the following two methods. I'm assuming that you've already installed everything available from M$ (WU): 1) Install Update Rollup 2 + UURollup (ENU). By doing this you will have almost all official updates & hotfixes and almost all unofficial updates installed. The current version of UURollup (ENU) utilises the extended kernel from WildBill although the next one is likely to use the BlackWingCat's version. 2) Install Update Rollup 2 + UURollup (Global) + BlackWingCat's kernel. By doing this you will have almost all official updates & hotfixes installed but you will miss most of the unofficial updates which aren't related to the kernel (you can still install them one by one manually). BlackWingCat's kernel is more advanced than the WildBill's one at the moment. Please take into account the fact that this is a very simplified guideline which doesn't cover other packages like .NET Framework, etc. but it may be good for you to begin with. -
KB913086-201208 Includes Windows 2000 Hotfix
tomasz86 replied to blackwingcat's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
It's safer not to uninstall the older one, especially if it was installed long time ago. Moreover, if you've already installed the new one then you must not uninstall the older one because doing so will break the OS so you did the right thing. These updates were probably included in the ISOs by "mistake" and I don't think there will be any new Win2k updates available on WU. In fact, I don't even know if WU still works properly after M$ has removed several updates recently. -
Override ClearType fonts for certain websites?
tomasz86 replied to tomasz86's topic in Networks and the Internet
I use the CRT as default because it's a very good Diamondtron monitor while the LCD is... let's say "low quality" (=rubbish) I've got an another old CRT somewhere so I'll try to connect it instead of the LCD and see if there's any difference. I don't think that Windows 2000 is able distinguish between CRT and LCD so I'm guessing the problem may be either: 1) a bug in Win2k related to multi-monitor setup 2) a bug in the graphic drivers -
@Mim0 The "cdimage-v252.zip" can be longer be downloaded from the current location.

Thank you, BlackWingCat By the way, I was wrong about SRWare Iron. I've tested it one more time and it does work... but there seem to be a problem in all version of Chromium related to javascript. Processing of javascript freezes in certain situations and the only way to "solve" it is to reopen the problematic tab. I've got no screen shots at the moment so it's a little bit difficult to explain the problem in details but I'll try to prepare them later.
-
Thanks for all your support If it's not a problem I'd like to ask you to wait for a while until the transition to BWC kernel is finished. Then we can go on with the translation process and I hope that we will be able to finish it in the near future.

KB913086-201208 Includes Windows 2000 Hotfix

One more update in Windows-KB913086-201109.iso: WINDOWS2000-KB2570947-X86-CUSTOM-XXX.EXE This is a registry only update. The following key is removed from the registry: HKLM, "SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{42071714-76d4-11d1-8b24-00a0c9068ff3}" -
KB913086-201208 Includes Windows 2000 Hotfix

The IE Cumulative Update for Windows 2000 was included in Windows-KB913086-201206.iso too! IE5.01SP4-KB2699988-WINDOWS2000SP4-X86-XXX.EXE IE6.0SP1-KB2699988-WINDOWS2000-X86-XXX.EXE Now it doesn't matter any more because it was replaced by KB2722913 but still it's a proof that M$ keeps preparing Win2k updates. Edit: IE CU was also included in Windows-KB913086-201204.iso: IE5.01SP4-KB2675157-WINDOWS2000SP4-X86-XXX.EXE IE6.0SP1-KB2675157-WINDOWS2000-X86-XXX.EXE -
@jds I think you should have a look at the OnePiece's .NET 3.5 SP1 True Addon. It uses an INF file to install so it's much better to analyse and modify then the official MSI installer.

I'm writing now from Windows 8 Enterprise (trial) + Opera 12.01 and I've experienced exactly the same bug (frozen UI) as when the browser was used in Windows 2000. Initially I thought that the bug was somewhat related to Win2k but now can say for sure that Opera 12 is just buggy in general
