A new daily version of UURollup-v11 is ready. This one is very experimental so be careful, and do not try to slipstream it because I've been playing around with the registry changes and some of them won't be applied when it's slipstreamed. From now on I also won't be providing a changelog for the daily releases. It's too time consuming. If you want to know what exactly has changed then you can always compare the builds yourself by using a specialised tool and compare the two folders after unpacking the archives. I myself use KDiff3 which shows all differences very clearly

Installing xmllite.dll doesn't help but the problem happens in a VM (VirtualBox) and I can register the file in my real system. I'll try to do more testing.
-
@acus What hex editor did you use to patch the file? I've been trying to do it with XVI32 but can't find the string The version of my sfc.dll is correct...

Actually there was supposed to be an URL in my last post. Without it it sounds a little bit rude and the second part of it doesn't make sense This is the Windows 2000 Updates list: http://www.windows2000.tk/updates but you seem to be interested in a "simpler" solution. I'd recommend checking my HFSLIP folder structure here: Edit: I don't know yet... but it shouldn't take too long

He removed sxs.dll and changed advapi32.dll, kernel32.dll, ntdll.dll and user32.dll. Maybe there was some conflict? By the way, regsvr32 propsys.dll 6.0.6001.18000 doesn't work...

Everything which was included in the HBR Mini Rollup is now included in Update Rollup 2. 843540 is obsolete. You can safely forget about them. Not all of the files are absolutely necessary. Some of them have been just added by me. Of course it would be easier if HFSLIP came with the required tools so that a user don't need to search for them himself. These three files don't come from these HBRs but rather from Update Rollup 1 !!! The problem with them is that the ones from the HBRs are buggy and the buggy files were included in USP5.1 so if you slipstream USP5.1 then the buggy files are added to your source. That's why it's necessary to separately add the three older ones so that HFSLIP will automatically copy them over the buggy files. You can now download them from the Archive. They're located in the USP52 folder. I recommend Parted Magic. You can boot it from a CD or a USB flash disk (check YUMI to very easily add new images to the USB flash disk). You don't need the Server extension for a Pro system. You can safely omit it, and do the same with the two Media Services updates. It's listed now but you will probably need to download it from the Archive. I'll need to check this.

This is my updated HFSLIP folder structure: You can get the script here: http://users.telenet.be/tc76/hfslip/_extensions.html As you've already seen, the Updates list is up and running at: http://www.windows2000.tk/updates/ Please check the Changelog because there has been a BIG update and the layout is a little bit different. In the future I'm considering adding Update Rollup 2 / UURollup to the list but not now yet. I'd suggest using the gaming version. Even if you don't play games there are many libraries which may be required by some programs, etc. I myself also don't really play any games but still always integrate the full package. MSRDP52 can now be downloaded from the Updates list. SOURCESS is cleaned each time you run HFSLIP (the folder is deleted) so you shouldn't worry about it. In case of the SOURCE folder, it should contain a clean version of Win2k although you can of course use a one with a SP slipstreamed, so if you've integrated USP5.1 already then you needn't do it again. The file (w2ksp51.exe) in HF will be ignored by the script if the source already has it integrated. You don't need them. They are required when SFC is running and for WU because they contain digital signatures of the system files. The fact is that when using the unofficial updates SFC itself is pretty useless (because there are no signatures in the modified files), and WU must not be used at all so you can safely remove all .CAT files. Actually, SFC will be disabled in the next version of UURollup. I don't know of any way to easily dump the output The script should generate a file called NEWBIN.txt where the newly added files will be listed. Let's wait with the drivers until I finish the script which automatically adds new drivers to driver.cab You're the second person to report this problem. I can't reproduce it myself and still don't know what is the cause of it The problem may happen when integrating both UURollup and WMP9. Could you check if WMP9 works in the system after installation? You'll probably have to use the BlackWingCat's drivers. If it's not a problem, it'd be good to wait just a few days so that we can try to integrate the drivers using my script .NET 1.1 is also installed, just not visible by default. You can open %systemroot%\inf\sysoc.inf and remove all "HIDE"'s from there. Then check the Control Panel again and it should be listed there. You can't uninstall it though so don't even try. You can fix this by playing with file dependencies but is it really necessary? This applet is responsible for Flash settings in IE. Flash itself will still work OK without using it.

Hello everyone, I want to thank all of the people who have maintained the Updates list so far. From now on it will be available at: http://www.windows2000.tk/updates
-
I'm sorry that you had to wait so long for my answer This is the first part of it (tomorrow I'll try to write the second one) It's a mistake. I had the file unpacked and the one without an extensions was just a folder! You should ignore it. It's not available at the moment but it should be ready to download tomorrow. Yes, MSRDP52 replaces KB958470. If you don't want to use MSRDP52 then you just can add the reg entry. I myself slipstream MSRDP52 just in case You can get the file from Mimo's website: http://mimo.zxq.net/updatelist.htm#table6 and just put it in the HFSLIP's folder. It's not really crucial as the only role it plays is defragmenting sysoc.inf after HFSLIP's modifications. Next part of the answer tomorrow (keep an eye on this post as I'm going to edit it).

It's you who was talking about a 250 GB SSD That's why I mentioned the Velociraptor. If you put only Windows on SSD then you won't gain that much. If you put Windows and programs then yes, there will be a noticeable difference. Still everything will be slowed down by the slow HDD.
-
Maybe a compromise? Western Digital VelociRaptor 1 TB,Internal,10000 RPM,3.5" (WD1000DHTZ) Almost 4x cheaper than the SSD and way faster than any 7200 rpm SATA HDD. It offers also very high sequential transfers which you probably need for large files: and access time around ~7ms: http://www.rwlabs.com/article.php?cat=&id=627
-
What kind of updates do you mean exactly? The tool you're asking for is called "expand.exe" and should be included in your system.
-
Hmm, strange. This is the first time I've heard about this kind of error. Maybe other official updates (or Update Rollup 2) should be made required for UURollup (ENU). There's a big gap between USP5.1 (2006) and UURollup (2010-).
-
We can't get Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1.
tomasz86 replied to blackwingcat's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
@Dagwood The M$ links are working again so it's possible to download the IE6 files in all languages from the official source -
I think that you haven't done too much research on the topic...
-
In this case I'd definitely go to the SSD. The speed difference between a decent SSD and this Hitachi drive will be extreme. If you were talking about a faster HDD, even something like a 10000rpm WD Velociraptor then the choice would be more difficult (because Velociraptor offers many more GBs for the price of the SSD while being also much faster than any "normal" HDD) but in case of a 7200 rpm SATA drive it's really no comparison.
-
Problem confirmed. One of the newly added files seems to be causing the error. The last working version of UURollup is d120904. This is a list of differences between d120904 (left) and d120906 (right): I suspect the newly added wintrust.dll (verification needed). Normally this error appears when one of the digitally signed files like layout.inf has been edited, and can be usually "fixed" by disabling SFC but not in this case. I tried to disable SFC using nLite but it didn't help. More testing is necessary. Edit: Confirmed. It's wintrust.dll to cause the problem. @My2GirlsDad "Officially" it's not possible to slipstream the daily versions. I think that acus simply created an SFXCAB installer himself. I've been storing the daily versions in the .7z format because it saves space which I'm running out of now. I've got 5 disks here but 4 of them are small (130 GB total) and the last one is a 500 GB SATA HDD. The problem is that the big one is dying so I can't keep important files on it. I could provide a script which would automatically create an installer from the .7z package though. I'll think about it
-
There are different kinds of HDDs and SSDs. The comparison will differ depending on several aspects... If you're talking about a "standard" 7200 rpm SATA HDD for consumer market then of course SSD will be MUCH faster, especially when working in many applications at the same time. Loading times (when launching programs, etc.) will be also much lower.
-
Welcome back as always thanks a lot for testing. I myself haven't tested slipstreaming yet. If possible, could you try to slipstream the newest daily version of UURollup (d120911) but put only USP5.1 and UR2 with it (no other packages). This way we can track the issue more easily.
-
Maxthon (the Webkit version) is actually a pretty good browser, especially when it comes to supporting the newest HTML5 functions (source) and the general speed. The problem is that it's not very popular so the support from users (extensions) is very weak. You can try switching to the IE mode and checking the Flash version from there.
-
It's because Maxthon uses two engines - Webkit (the one used also in Chrome) and Trident (the one used in IE). You can switch between them in the browser.
-
I'm just not having very good luck. Thanks anyway. Cheers and Regards You can't use direct links to download BlackWingCat;s files... but they can be still downloaded with Free Download Manager. Just use the link from above and it will work
-
Probably not many forum users are using Windows 8 Guests are unable to download files.
