I have a questions in regards to Windows2000-KB884872-x86-XXX.exe also. According to the MS webpage the hotfix is for Win2K Server, but the www.windows2000.tk/updates page doesn't say thins - making one to think for for all versions of Win2K. So I am wondering is this hotfix for all versions, or just for Win2K Server?

Its been quite the adventure trying to install on my "new" system. For some reason the PS/2 mouse doesn't function at all. I went into control panel into the mouse settings and it has an error 10: can't start up the device. The mouse functions just fine in XOSL and BartPE with no issues what so ever. Any ideas/suggestion/solutions? Thanks in advance.

On the http://www.windows2000.tk/updates/index.html it gives the link to KB831877 and KB830460: http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=831877 http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=830460 When I click on the links MS gives me two Win2K options. For KB831877 you have Fix75015 and Fix71169, for 830460 you have Fix100643 and PKG61984. The last one I assume the correct one is the Fix100643, as all the other downloads have been Fix#####. But for KB831877 both options are Fix#####. I downloaded both and the file names in both ZIP files are the same. So which one do I use?

Ok, this is getting down right annoying. I set in the BIOS to use the onboard video so I could complete an install. Got it to install, but lo and behold my PS/2 MOUSE isn't working!!! This is so befuddling!!!! Just as a point of reference. Both the video, 137GB+ sata drives, keyboard (with USB 2.0 enabled), and mouse work just fine in XOSL and BartPE without a single hickup! But in Win2k I'm getting a boat load of issues!!!! I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, if this is an issue with my mobo, or an issue with Win2K, or an issue with Win2K working with my mobo. In regards to the mouse, I went into control panel into the mouse settings and it has an error 10: can't start up the device. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply! A Intel motherboard with a ATI IXP 450 Southbridge. That's AMD hardware at a Intel motherboard. This is impossible and will fail Back then I used a AMD K6 CPU at a Intel chipset. What do you mean by "this is impossible and will fail"? What is impossible? What will fail? Please explain/elaborate. Didn't you update the BIOS in the meantime? http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/169569-video-error-during-install-when-gui-is-started/#entry1058307 Do you get USB 2.0 speed at Windows?Yes, I updated the BIOS with the latest Intel BIOS. It didn't add any extra USB options. I haven't gotten past the point where the install goes into the GUI due to the video issue, so I haven't gotten into windows to know what USB speed I have. Thanks for the links, I'll have to check those out. Sadly the mobo only has 2 PCI, one of which is taken up by my sound card - so using my last PCI slot (last open slot in the whole machine) for a USB card isn't that appealing to me.
-
I was able to, praise God, force flash the Intel BIOS on to my eMachine mobo. Doing so opened up some additional settings, including selecting the primary video, which I set to PCIe. However the same striped screen is still coming up.
-
Oh wow, I did not know that. So I guess that means I should just let the BIOS setting stay with 2.0 disabled then. Thanks for the info!

Ok, I have successfully gotten to the point where the install reboots and tries to go into the GUI section of the installation. How ever when the GUI is being started my screen displays nothing but vertical black and white stripes! I have two video cards, a Matrox P650 (PCIe x16) and a Matrox G550 (PCIe x1). When I remove those cards and use the on-board video the GUI setup works fine, but if I plug in my P650 the gui produces the stripes. The cards support Win2K. Is anyone aware of any issues in regards to this? Sadly my BIOS doesn't give any options to disable the on-board video, nor to select which video has primary status. So I'm currently thinking that the issue might be that the windows install gets confused as to what video port to use. I have tried plugging my monitor into the other video ports just to see if the signal jumped, but they are all off . As a side note, when using BartPE on the system the video card works just fine. Sadly I can't try my original Win2K CD, as my system only has SATA HD that are 300gb and 500gb - so the original CD sees the drives as corrupted. Is there a way to slipstream some setting so that the setup GUI is forced to use the correct video card? I saw on http://www.windows2000.tk/updates/ that there is a patch for the video, but the link is dead. Does anyone have a way to get this file still? Its called "Windows2000-KB829884-x86-Global.exe". According to the page it is "Unofficial (blackwingcat, translated to English by Google Translate, recompiled by tomasz86)". Thanks in advance.

Did some googling and such. Found out that USB 2.0 support is suppost to be provide in SP4 - which I do have slipstreamed, so what gives?

My BIOS does have the following USB settings I can change: UBS All - ENABLE USB 2.0 - ENABLE USB Legacy - ENABLE So what, if any, should I change? USB All just turns the USB off. I disabled USB Legacy and my keyboard wouldn't work in BIOS anymore. I disabled USB 2.0 and now the keyboard works just like the PS/2 did. So, what needs to be modified/slipstreamed into my install CD so that I can have my USB 2.0 enabled?

System Specs: Intel D102GGC2 motherboard with a Pentium D 805 processor 2GB RAM 500gb Maxtor SATA 300gb Maxtor SATA I am using one of the rear USB ports. I was able to get an PS/2 keyboard to test out my CD. At the place where the keyboard would normally freeze the lights on my keyboard all flashed on and then all went off (including the num lock which was previously on). However was able to turn the num lock back on and use the keyboard normally. Also I tried using the original Win2K install CD, and the same thing happens. So there is something with the installer that does something to the keyboard, and if its a PS/2 it keeps working, if its a USB it stops.

This is awesome, as I am having issues with getting my SATA to work during install. One question/favor: Is there a way to remove some of the included items? I would like to remove the following from the CD: IE 6 SP1 + Tab Available OutLook Express 6 SP3 SilverLight v4.1 Safari 6.0.5 and Firefox/Thunderbird 17.0.9 ESR MovieMaker 2.6 Google Earth / Picasa Media Player 10 and Encoder 9 Skype 6 Thanks in advance.

An update: To continue trouble shooting I downloaded the HFSLIP_ia.7z file, extracted it and copied my SOURCE to it. Sadly the keyboard is still freezing at the same point.

This, unlike my other recent posts which were about optimizing things, is actually a critical issue. While testing out a burned CD on my PC I noticed when I went to select which harddrive to install on that my keyboard was not responding. I search the forums here and only found a few posts talking about this, but with no resolve (or at least I didn't find any as the issue was raised in another thread about another topic and I didn't want to read all 100+ replies to see if someone slipped it in). But doing a search on HFSLIP and USB keyboard brought no solutions. So in my attempt at trouble shooting I did the following so far and discovered the following. I stripped things down to just slipstreaming SP4, UR2, and UURollup v10d. I included the following files in the HFEXPERT\STORAGE folder for my sata drives iaahci.cat iaahci.inf iastor.cat iastor.inf iastor.sys SCS28579.drv storage.ini txtsetup.oem I included the following file in the HFEXPERT\WIN\SYSTEM32 folder: mapistub.dll I included to .REG files in the HFSVCPACK folder for KB830407 and KB919521 which have the following: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\NetCache] "Enabled"=dword:00000000 "EconomicalAdminPinning"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\HAL] "14140000FFFFFFFF"=dword:00000010 I included in the REPLACE\I386 folder the modified SETUPREG.HIV that is supposed to help with the 127GB+ drive issue from http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/75713-48-bit-lba-on-win2k-setup/ While the system was installing I was toggling the numlock key to see at what point it stops responding. I also press F6 to see if it was receiving any input. The keyboard functioned fine, including the F6 key and pressing <ENTER> to continue. The point where it froze was 1 second after it says "Setup is starting Windows 2000", right before the partition selection screen comes up. When it happens the numlock key turns off. So what is causing the setup to turn off my keyboard? Is this an issue with the USB keyboard which just happens to die before the partition selection, or is something with the 127BG+ issue fix is causing the USB keyboard to stop working? Any advise, suggestions, or hopefully solutions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ok, I was able to find other files that can go into the HFCLEANUP folder. I will list them in case anyone else might need them: http://web.archive.org/web/20070106210801/http://www.hfslip.org/files/CLN/hfcleanup.zip http://web.archive.org/web/20070106170800/http://www.hfslip.org/files/CLN/hfcleanup_2kextra.zip http://web.archive.org/web/20070106055952/http://www.hfslip.org/files/CLN/hfcleanup_dialup_reducer.zip http://web.archive.org/web/20070106170438/http://www.hfslip.org/files/CLN/hfcleanup_msoffice_reducer.zip http://web.archive.org/web/20070106060001/http://www.hfslip.org/files/CLN/hfcleanup_network_driver_reducer.zip http://web.archive.org/web/20070106170750/http://www.hfslip.org/files/CLN/hfcleanup_qlaunch_fix.zip I'm not sure how these differ from 2000SP4.EXT, but at least its something. Plus the readme file gives instruction as to how to make your own.

In the readme file included with hfcleanup.zip it states: 7. If you are annoyed by empty folders, you can clean up most of them by using modified SFC.DL_ and SFCFILES.DL_ files in the FIX folder. I have searched about to find info in regards to doing so, but have failed. I was wondering how do I go about doing this. Thanks in advance.

I am confused. According to http://www.windows2000.tk/index.html I need to include UR1 in order to use UR2. However according to http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/152194-discontinued-update-rollup-2-for-windows-2000/ I can not include it. So which is it? Also, http://www.windows2000.tk/updates/index.html# contains a list of various hotfixes. When you click on "hide superseded" it hides the files that are not needed due to other updates. However UR2 is not listed on this page. So I am wondering, if I use UR2, what fixes on the page are superseded by it? Sadly I have spent several hours downloading the first 70 fixes. It was ridiculously tedious due to Microsoft's setup. I had to click on the link on the update list, then on the MS site I had to select the file, type my email address twice, enter a rechapta, then go to my email, click on the link in my email, then open the file downloaded in zip to extract the file - FOR EVERY SINGLE FILE!!!! Doing that for 70 files was SOOOOOOOOOOO annoying! So I would like to know what files I actually need to download from MS for the slipstream, so I don't have to subject myself to MS's download scheme anymore than I need to. So in summary: If I am slipstreaming SP4, UR2, and UURollup, do I or don't I use UR1? Since I'm using UR2, what hotfixes are what fixes on the page are superseded by it? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for replying, however none of those links you gave me worked. The first one gave the following error: Loading... http://hfslip.org/files/X/2000SP4EXT.zip | 5:33:27 May 28, 2011 Got an HTTP 302 response at crawl time Redirecting to... http://fwdservice.com/?dmn=hfslip.org&folio=212511050 The second one was a landing page that gave links to auto insurance, school degrees, etc. The third one had no links to any files, just HFSLIP info. (I have search this site before) The fourth one, which is from the site in ITEM 3, has dead links (I have tried this page before). When you click on the links you get the same landing page as in ITEM 2. So again, where can I currently get this file?
-
I am trying to find and download the 2000SP4EXT.zip but am not able to due to the hfslip.org site no longer being up. Where can I find this file, as well as the other files once hosted on the hfslip.org site. Thanks in advance.
-
Please excuse my ignorance, but I am confused by the site that has the downloads. My question is "which one am I suppose to download", as there are a ton of versions, the text on the page isn't in English - so I don't know which one to get. Some someone kindly help me figure out which one to get. If a direct link to the actual download file would be great! Thanks in advance.
-
Thank you so much. I have downloaded the files (I had to hunt for the Filemon and Regmon as its no longer available on their website =[ ) I'll be sure to let you know what the outcome is. Thanks again!

Thanks for responding. Could you kindly explain exactly what you mean? Thanks in advance.
