  1. No problem. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. So I guess me best bet would be to use your HFSLIP archive. I have a question though. I plan on using FDV's file set, and he instructs that a person use IE5, and the updates for IE5. What would I need to modify in your HFSLIP archive, if anything, in order to do so? On a different note, but in the same key: I am also wanting to do a slipstream of WinXP. I have been browsing the forum trying to figure out to prepare a fully updated WinXP. So I figure before I spend anymore time (or blank CDs) trying to do so, and possible using old info, I figure I ask since I currently have your ear. Do you also have a WinXP HFSLIP archive? Thanks again for all the help thus far!
  2. Wow! That is awesome! I really appreciate that! I have a question. I plan on using FDV's fileset to remove IE. On his site he says to only use the updates to IE6, and not IE8. The program that you linked assumes the user wants to use IE8 and not IE6. So I am wondering how to do that. Which files should I remove, and what files do I still need? Thanks again!
  3. Where can I fine a list of updates in addition to SP3 that can be slipstreamed into XP? A couple days ago I was browsing http://mimo.zxq.net/updatelist.htm, but now it is gone! I also tied FDV's site, but the link to his list is dead. Does anyone know where I can find a list of update files? Thanks in advance.
  4. What resolution would you suggest to set it to? I can't think of a more compatible resolution then the normal 640x480 mode that the setup GUI uses. So any suggestions would be appreciated.
  5. I have been on his site, and have been using his fileset for years. So I have the files, but putting them in the FIX folder isn't removing the empty folders. And I haven't found anywhere (including FDV's site) that explain how to do this.
  6. Yes, I tried the other mouse that was paired with the PS/2 keyboard that is from another PC. Also, by "mouse don't work" means that the pointer doesn't even appear on the screen. Just want to be clear as to the extent of the issue.
  7. Ok, correction - now the mouse isn't working. So I disabled the USB 2.0 and mouse still doesn't work. The mouse worked with the UBS keyboard for one reboot cycle, and on the second or third (I was distracted by the keyboard acting slightly weird on the second reboot that I didn't notice what the mouse was doing) the mouse stopped. This is really annoying and frustrating.
  8. I did that (source CD + SP4 and 48bit LBA fix) and it gave the same results. I had mentioned this in another thread on here, sorry I didn't mention it on this thread. I have over the past three days have burned and tried 14 (I just counted) different CDs with different configurations and options as I have been trying to resolve my keyboard/drive/video/mouse issues! So after the source+SP4+48bit didn't resolve my mouse issue, created the above CD - as I know that CD has worked on other machines. Anyways, now the plot thickens! I just did an install with the above CD but with a PS/2 keyboard with the PS/2 mouse, with USB 2.0 enabled, and now the mouse works! The keyboard didn't work but after a minute or so passed it worked. So I rebooted again and the keyboard worked immediantly. One weird thing is that the num lock was turned off while the splash screen was up, about 2-5 seconds before the login box came up. So to install Win2K I have to have a PS/2 mouse AND keyboard, and after installing I can use my USB keyboard, even with 2.0 enabled, and it works fine (except for the num lock turning off). So I am hopeful, as clearly my equipment is working under Win2K, the issue is Win2K installation GUI. It is also at the installation GUI that my video card issue starts (http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/169569-video-error-during-install-when-gui-is-started/). So what can be modified/slipped that would fix these issues with the Win2K installation process?
  9. Tomasz86, sorry for all these question, but most of the post having info I'm looking for are quite old - so I'm concerned that the info on them is no longer valid. On the forum I read that your list is to work in tandem with another list by Bristol. How ever all the links to his/her list are dead. So to have a complete update does one still need his list, or is your list now the complete list? If one still needs his list, where is it currently at? Also, on your list, you have Windows2000-UU-KB968006-x86-Global.exe - but it is not in your dropbox folders (at least not I could find). The actual link is requiring me to sign up for an account. Thanks again for all the help!
  10. Ok, back to serious mode. I found my original HFSLIP folder that I used to make the slipstream CD that I used to install my older system with. So I copied into it the REG.EXE into the HFTOOLS folder (to take care of the 48-bit LBA issue) and created a new CD. Used it to install my new system, but it exhibited the same issues. So its not an issue with Win2K, as my Win2K install works perfect on other systems. Its not my new system, as it works perfectly with other OSes. So the issue is the two together. So the question is why don't they like each other, and how do I get them to play nice? Where do I look for help, besides here, as both Win2K and my D102GGC2 mobo are no longer supported by their makers.
  11. On your list there is a file with a bad link: Windows2000-KB829884-x86-Global.exe I tried finding it on your dropbox page but didn't see it. How can I get this file?
  12. Ok, just to make sure I understand and am doing this correctly. If I download the various MS Hotfixes you have listed on the http://www.windows2000.tk/updates/index.html# page I don't use UR2 then - just UR1 (which is on the list) and UURollup (which is on the list as well) then I would have slipstream all the all the updates/hotfixes needed? Sorry if I'm sounding noobish with this question, just want to make sure I'm not missing some important or updated information, and that I am following things correctly. Thanks again - now I go back to downloading some more files (up to 153 files at this point).
  13. That is hilarious! I love it!!!
  14. Wow, downloading the files form the link you gave is making things so much easier! Thank you again. I just want to make you aware, in case your not already, that one of the files listed is not found in your archive: Windows2000-KB891503-v2-x86-XXX.exe When I go to download it from MS it gives me SFU35-Q891503-X86-ENU.exe Please advise as to what to do.
  15. Yes, its a true old school PS/2 mouse. That kb must have been written by the people that became developers of Windows 8. LOL Yeah, that "cause" made me do many face-palms. "Making it so that your keyboard and mouse don't work, even though they should, and do work in other systems, is all on purpose!" OY VEY!
  16. Please feel free to read my other post about the mouse, as i have added much more details about the situation - including MS having the French version of a KB dealing with issue but not an English version! http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/169652-ps2-mouse-doesnt-work/?p=1058513 Thanks.
  17. I did some googling and discovered that others have had similar issues. Here is where things get WEIRD: In discussing the issue someone mentioned kb258797. I went to the MS site with the following link, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258797 and got a "Oops The page you are looking for may have a new location, or is no longer available." error. But if I go to a different language, such as French with this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258797/fr I get a valid page - but in French. So I used our good friend Google Translate and got the following: So this brings up a lot of questions. For starters why did MS remove the English version of this page? Second, how can not having a mouse work be "by design"?!?!? The thing that boogles me is that this same keyboard and mouse has been used on my old system (and still is until I get my new one up) and it is running Win2K (with a slipstream I created with HFSLIP many many years ago) without any issues. Very befuddling!
  18. No problem, I was just confused. I had, during my multi trouble shooting attempts created a slipstream with just SP4 and UR1, just in case something somewhere was breaking something. I had to of course still slipstream my SATA drivers and the SETUPREG.HIV file I downloaded due to my drives being SATA and being over 137gb. Still the system demonstrated the same issues. In regards to different errors (I don't know if you read my other post or not), I tried a setup having USB 2.0 disabled and using the onboard video as the primary port. The install worked fine except for one thing - my PS/2 mouse doesn't work!!! So I have Win2K running on the machine - but with no mouse. I went into the control panel and the mouse settings said I had an error 10: This device can not start. And of course the mouse works fine under both XOSL and BartPE with no issues. Its both funny and extremely annoying in many ways: first the hard drive, then the keyboard, then the video, and now the mouse - all of which are pretty major/essential components! At least the CD-ROM drive is working! lol
  19. Thank you so much for responding and explaining all of this. Wow! That is A LOT of files! Thank you for the suggestion and link about your archive page - that will make things MUCH easier! I plan on resuming the downloading process, as well as following the directions given in regards to making .REG files and other work arounds. Since you plan on updating the page, could you kindly post to this topic any changes done so could correct on my end what ever might need to be corrected without having to scourer the page and try to figure out what I need to modify to remain current? Thanks so much for all the work you have done, and taking the time to help with all of this.
  20. Thanks for responding. I greatly appreciate it. I have another question about KB884872. According to the notes you have there are some difficulty in slipstreaming it. You give instructions for a work around to do a manual installation. Have you by any chance figured out a work around to slipstream it (by using the HFEXPERT folder or something)? Thanks again!
  21. I have a questions in regards to Windows2000-KB884872-x86-XXX.exe also. According to the MS webpage the hotfix is for Win2K Server, but the www.windows2000.tk/updates page doesn't say thins - making one to think for for all versions of Win2K. So I am wondering is this hotfix for all versions, or just for Win2K Server?
  22. Its been quite the adventure trying to install on my "new" system. For some reason the PS/2 mouse doesn't function at all. I went into control panel into the mouse settings and it has an error 10: can't start up the device. The mouse functions just fine in XOSL and BartPE with no issues what so ever. Any ideas/suggestion/solutions? Thanks in advance.
  23. On the http://www.windows2000.tk/updates/index.html it gives the link to KB831877 and KB830460: http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=831877 http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=830460 When I click on the links MS gives me two Win2K options. For KB831877 you have Fix75015 and Fix71169, for 830460 you have Fix100643 and PKG61984. The last one I assume the correct one is the Fix100643, as all the other downloads have been Fix#####. But for KB831877 both options are Fix#####. I downloaded both and the file names in both ZIP files are the same. So which one do I use?
  24. Ok, this is getting down right annoying. I set in the BIOS to use the onboard video so I could complete an install. Got it to install, but lo and behold my PS/2 MOUSE isn't working!!! This is so befuddling!!!! Just as a point of reference. Both the video, 137GB+ sata drives, keyboard (with USB 2.0 enabled), and mouse work just fine in XOSL and BartPE without a single hickup! But in Win2k I'm getting a boat load of issues!!!! I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, if this is an issue with my mobo, or an issue with Win2K, or an issue with Win2K working with my mobo. In regards to the mouse, I went into control panel into the mouse settings and it has an error 10: can't start up the device. Any help would be appreciated.
