  1. You mean the guy who physically defragged his hard drive MSNwar?
  2. yep, Affiliates.
  3. I thought about that... but left it in General, since it was a Windows ME and Windows XP question.
  4. err.. Windows ME on C:\ then XP on any other partition/drive. XP should and will set up the boot.ini for you. Don't change anything in the bios, just make first boot device the C:\ Drive.
  5. Why did you change the boot sequence in the BIOS? that means it won't read from your boot.ini I also notice that you have disk(1) partition(1) and disk(0)partition (2). That means: Thats some strange setup you have there...
  6. There's nothing wrong with that. Many people have done that, and its the standard in dual booting. No side effects in it.
  7. He wants to host a game server, I wouldn't advise doing that in Virtual PC/VMWare.
  8. If you do that, then WinME won't boot anymore, even if you installed it to D:\ it still places the boot files on C:\ I had a similar scenario when I first install win2k, then installed win98. Everything went wrong. You should do as LS Dragons said: 1. Format 2. create 2 partitions 3. install WinMe (if you must) 4. install WinXP - and it will set up dual boot for you. This is because WinXP will recognise WinME, XP is newer and knows about previous Operating systems, it cannot be done vice versa. There may be third party bootloader apps that will allow you to install WinME when you already have XP installed, try doing some research on Google, and check out PowerQuest's Bootmagic software.

    SP1.1060 and DOJ

I say f*ck the DOJ and tell them to leave Microsoft alone. Microsoft are making great Operating Systems and software now!

  12. I'll wait for version 2 of Blubster, it will have resume support then. (I know Blubster v1.2.3 has resume, but its very limited in the way it works, and crap for 56k users)
  13. Yep we always can find music elsewhere for free, but it gets harder and harder. There won't be anything like audiogalaxy ever again, it had all the songs you could want (especially at 192kbits) and downloaded without a problem at full speed. Now we have to use networks like Kazaa and WinMX for MP3s
  14. I see what you mean flash, there used to be a gap between the MSFN logo and the toolbar of the browser. but now the logo is stuck directly to the very top of the page... xper.. what have you done now?
  15. This is getting way off topic...
  16. welcome to MSFN aleni, I remember you from the neowin forums in the desktop threads
  17. Sorry Sagai, I noticed you had trouble finding the correct section to post your question in. I just found out that the software section in the Tech Support for XP Category was removed during the conversion from VBulletin to Invision Board. Its been restored now and your post has been moved
  18. aaahh you got there before me Blackwar! lol
  19. Tools > Internet Options > Content > AutoComplete > Prompt me to save Passwords ??
  20. On Win2k command prompt, came up the following: C:\>fsutil fsinfo ntfsinfo c: 'fsutil' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
  21. Didn't I tell you on MSNM about 3 weeks ago you needed a crossover to solve that problem you had? Or you wanted more opinions? grr, you ruddy git
  22. heh, the table is so small, for 640x480 browsers! Next time I'll use a table size for 800x600 but i doubt MSBetaNG will be back....
  23. yep, I was totally devoted to learning everything revolving around Windows XP, and found out a lot. Decided to help out the community a lot with my knowledge And I never spreaded any bulls***, like some idiots do out there on the net. (e.g. fake longhorn vids etc)
  24. Drive Health is a Windows program that helps you to estimate your hard disks Life Resource. This tool allows you to predict possible HDD failure and prevent losing the critical data. To estimate hard disk life our program uses special S.M.A.R.T. technology that is supported by the most of hard disk manufacturers. By implementing this technology the Drive Health provides access to the hard disk drives reliability monitoring, and keeps you informed about any potentially dangerous degradations of performance or reliability of your HDDs. The monitoring program eats minimum CPU and memory resources and can be run as a NT service. http://www.drivehealth.com Its good for predicting hard drive failures, only takes up 150kb of RAM, and runs in the background as a service with no taskbar or system tray icon. I recommend this tool to everyone You might find that it predicts a hard drive failure after a couple of hours monitoring (on my mates's PC that happened), its probably normal since it needs at least 2 weeks to learn how your hard drive works.
  25. I'm thinking of learning PHP over my 4 month summer break, how long does it take to get a basic/intermediate understanding of it? And where's the best place to start learning? http://www.php.net/manual/ ?
