  1. I am not into using screensavers, I use blank and have it set to turn off the monitor after a short period of time. But check out the Google Pack Screensaver and 3D Windows XP screensaver.
  2. I would investigate the wget gui's http://www.jensroesner.de/wgetgui/ http://www.cybershade.us/winwget/ http://millweed.com/projects/wackget/

  4. Ok thanks nuhi
  5. you should the horizontal 'common tasks pane' click on 'Organize' then 'Layout' then 'Details Pane'.
  6. another little bug - Mode:"Direct Burn" does not burn a bootable dvd. I must first use Mode:"Create Image" and then burn the resulting iso file. This is a requst or suggestion please enable the ISO 'page' without needing to first apply changes, because sometimes I might just want to burn the files and not make changes.
  7. Learned about this at Lifehacker, I used to use CompactMenu but that is no longer compatible with Firefox 2.0, and I was using a couple CSS tweaks until I saw this! Personal Menu - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3895/ There is also a similiar and smaller extension with less features: Tiny Menu - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1455/

  10. I think I've found a bug, but I do need to test more. The "Windows Media Center Receiver Service" will not start after removing seemingly unrelated services with vLite 0.5 This will cause Media Center to crash after about 10 seconds when it tries to start the service. I apologize for the lack of information I will have more tomorrow, including hopefully what service is responsible. Just posting now in case anyone else has noticed this. Otherwise so far so good!
  11. there are a lot of registry tweaks that can be used in Vista from nLite. Should we start a topic focusing on Vista compatible registry tweaks? One little thing I noticed first time using vLite is it behaved weird when my disk ran out of free space, it had an error message but it did not say low on free space, and it kept trying to write to the disk even though there was no free space. Of course I freed up some space, just fyi.
  12. Well I dont own a Wii but I did go over friends house who go one the day it came out to try it out. In terms of graphics: better than a Gamecube, not as good as a 360. I like the Wii the best so far, even though the 360 is imo the "best system" I just don't care for particularly any of its games. Reasons I like the Wii: The controller really makes the games interesting and challenging. Twilight Princess is another very good game in the Zelda series I also like most other Nintendo 'branded' games. Virtual Console, though I did not have an opportunity to try this. The system is small, quiet, simple to use, looks good, and is relatively inexpensive.
  13. well that was posted in May, and I know many people that have not heard of NOD32 and more that use no anti virus software at all.
  14. OMG OMG OMG! Guess I dont need to freeze myself afterall Thank You Nuhi, I cant wait to start playing with this!
  15. In Vista due to the Windows Resource Protection even the Administrator does not have ownership or control of certain system files. As of right now there is no patch to disable WRP, so you need to manually take ownership and control of each file you want to change. I posted instructions on how to do so in the uxtheme patch topic in this forum. If we dont get a patch I am sure someone will at least make a autoit script to do this method quickly.
  16. IF someone has it share BTW I havent been to Eset's site in a while, it looks way better than before.
  17. how come some people have a command and others a period? For example 3,4 instead of 3.4 ?
  18. Alright here is the definitive Service list for Vista Ultimate, I might do this for the other editions later I've attached both the TXT file I exported from Services.msc and the XLS file used to make the chart. You can easily sort, arrange, and color the rows/columns in Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice Calc, etc. Vista_Ultimate_Services.rar
  19. http://www.pcsx2.net/index.php The best PS2 emulator, been waiting for the 0.9.2 release for a while.
  20. A uxtheme patch is now availiable for Vista RTM here: http://anti-tgtsoft.com/repository/uxtheme...ws%20Vista/SP0/ Below is the included instructions for 'installing' the patch. I've added a note between #3 and #4 to better explain the process. WRP (Windows Resource Protection) made things more complicated. First thing I did was remove the 'glare' from the windows. I used ResHack to 'Save all resources' I then fixed the file extensions to PNG using AntRenamer. I edited the 'STREAM' resource in Photoshop and just deleted the glare part from the png and went back in ResHack and replaced it. Here is the difference:
  21. can you post a screenshot of this save dialog or type exactly what it says? I am having trouble understanding the issue.
  22. [edit] my 2000 thousandth post
  23. [edit] i am going to make a new spreadsheet file today with an EXACT list exported from services.msc from a fresh install of Vista Ultimate. You can use ServiWin to quickly check dependencies.
