what is the Cd source? retail cd, XP home ,Media centre etc? how did you copy the files to your hardrive?

if your using WinntbbuED.exe then yes it will save your files ,take the file add them into the i386 directory ,you will be prompted to overwrite the currenet files ,press yes.. please dont take this negative attititude in future..patience thats all it takes..i was tempeted not to help you for this reason but we are a helpful community here.
