  1. You guys cannot do what you want with the media, the contents or the software. When you buy software, you agree to it's license and it's terms. That's it. Simply.
  2. If you read your quote very carefully, it says that it's no longer used in Windows 2000... it does not make any mention of any other operating systems, past, present or future.
  3. There was no flaming. Who was rude and how? Umm... er... let's see... Windows Internals... written by Microsoft... about Windows... a Microsoft product... so obviously the book's information is completely wrong.Yes, PAE works in XP Pro 32bit, and yes, you use it. However, you have obviously no understanding whatsoever of what it does and how it works. By the way, if you don't want to deal with rebuttal that refutes your accusations that "The /3GB switch doesn't do what you think it does" when the poster was dead on, they don't post incorrect statements as such. Also, "should read the M$ docs a bit more clearly"... well Windows Internals would be considered the Microsoft documentation on the matter and I believe you're the one that needs to re-read the documentation a bit more clearly. Oh and as a final note, don't expect anyone to take you seriously when you spell Microsoft "M$". QED.
  4. You need to contact Steam Support : https://support.steampowered.com/
  5. Based on the lack of information, I'm assuming that the BIOS is seeing it since he's reporting "available" amounts, and one, again based on assumptions, could conclude that the "available" amount is the amount that he's seeing as reported in Windows.
  6. Are you drunk? You will NEVER see video card reviews that talk about color reproduction accuracy yet every serious monitor review will have a full color gammut review. Assuming 32-bit color depth, that 8-bits for red, 8-bits for green, 8-bits for blue and 8-bits for additional data, usually the alpha channel. Ignoring the data bits, if the display driver is instructed to display a pixel using RGB 00 00 00, it will send a black pixel to the monitor. Using a digital connection (DVI or HDMI) the monitor will receive 00 00 00... it is UP TO THE MONITOR to accurately reproduce that value. Aside from the uncommon possibility of a voltage regulation issue with the video card if using an analog connection (who does that anymore?), then the video card has NOTHING to do with color reproduction. crahak was accurate in his statement. PAE is another technology completely. No, most companies do NOT upgrade as soon as it's available. Most companies wait as long as possible before upgrading. There's a lot of companies that are still using Photoshop CS and CS2. Some are even still using Photoshop 7.
  7. If the BIOS did not recognize more then 4GB of RAM, the following would NOT be the case. This demonstrates that a fixed portion of RAM is being reserved. Typically, the only thing that will reserve that much RAM will be on-board video. The chipset is not at cause then.
  8. The current ULs are for XP with SP3.
  9. The issue is not related to his chipset. If it were the case, the memory available would not vary as it does in his case.
  10. Using another person's media to install Windows XP using your VALID and LEGAL product key does not go against the EULA. That's simply incorrect. The problem the OP is facing is a Product ID (PID) problem. To install XP using a Corporate/VLK license, you need an XP disc that is meant for a Corporate/VLK PID. The proper resolution would be to contact Microsoft Support and request replacement media for the Dell. Although I can't sanction any other method, there have been rumors of people editing the disc's PID to install XP using different product key types. I've also heard that your product key may be of the same type of product key that was typically used with pirated distributions of XP ISOs.
  11. I honestly can't debate that point further because I do not have a machine with 8GB of RAM to be able to test with, nor do I have enough knowledge on the inner workings of Vista memory addressing/translation to confirm or deny that.
  12. Seems to me that the obvious conclusion based on the lack information would be on-board video using 1GB of your ram.
  13. In fact, video cards have nothing to do with colour reproduction. The monitor used, the active color space profile and the type of connection between the video card and the monitor have an influence, not the videocard itself. All modern videocards are able to reproduce 32-bit colors, and if this information is transmitted digitally to the monitor (ie: DVI or HDMI) then the monitor is the deciding factor that determines the color reproduction quality.
  14. Overclocking is unnecessary and so is the 8GB of ram and the 64-bit OS. As mentioned previously, Photoshop is a 32-bit application and does not take advantage of either more then 4GB or a 64-bit OS.
  15. Three things help Photoshop. 4GB of ram, 3.0GHz or faster dual core or quad core CPU and a RAID 0 scratch disk.
  16. You can either try configuring your router for DHCP aquired internet connection, remove the power to the DSL modem, remove the power to the router, then restore power to the DSL modem then to the router. Or do the same thing with the router configured as PPoE with your Username/Password.
  17. If that's the case then one of three things is happening, a) your ISP did not give you your 2nd IP, B) your 2nd PC is not configured to automatically aquire an IP or c) your ISP is not delivering your IP through DHCP. I would first check to make sure both PCs are set to aquire an IP automatically, then shut down both PCs, remove the power to your cable modem, remove the power to the switch, make sure that you cable modem is plugged one of the switch ports and the PCs are also plugged into the switch ports (do not use the Uplink port or the router). Restore the power to the calbe modem, then the switch, then turn on each PC. If that still doesn't work, manually configure the IPs on each computer (still using the switch without a router). Else, call your ISP and talk with support because something's wrong.
  18. Personally, I think there's nothing wrong with the FileExists method, there's probably something wrong with the rest of the script.
  19. Here's an easy one, drop the router.
  20. Still sounds like you don't need more then then a 450W to 550W power supply.
  21. You didn't answer whether you needed a username and password to logon to your ISP.
