  1. I'm getting ASMedia error in system log. It happens every time system suspends/resumes and there is a 30 delay going into suspend (timeout?), but resume is OK and fast. Event Type: Error Event Source: asahxp32 Event Category: None Event ID: 15 Date: 4/13/2013 Time: 11:18:08 AM User: N/A Computer: 990FX Description: The device, \Device\Scsi\asahxp322, is not ready for access yet. 2. I think so. That's blackwingcat's work, not mine. You can just install the newest version (using Application Compatibility Launcher or just the portable release which is system independent). Make sure to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox' settings before updating it. ok, I just got around to trying this. Wow it worked, I installed FF 20.0.1. Then I did ther same compatibility thingy for "install_flash_player.exe" and now I have Flash 11.7.700.169... Then I downloaded BWC's "Jre6u43W2K.exe", works too Also, Win2k considers "AMD 12.10 AHCI SB8xx" from your Archive the same as "ahcix86-2k3_2_1540_53" and does not appear to update. Not a problem though. Same for "nVIDIA Display 270.61 for Windows 2000", win2k prefers BWC's "nvw2k26658d" with the NV4_DISP.INF that I had modified to include GTX 550 Ti. The Sabertooth is perfect for win2k, the only thing missing is HDMI Audio.
  3. Thank you, I think you posted in my z77 thread, i got the same "The file iastor.sys is corrupted", so I gave up for now. The AMD 990FX works much better, including USB 3,0, ASMedia 6 GB SATA, 8-core CPU and superior fan control. Check my thread on "Sabertooth", it's a straightforward install, no need for trickery. I still don't understand how win2k can use more than 4 GB memory, and wireless is still win2k's Achilles heel. Also Win2k Disk Management creates misaligned partitions with new disk technologies, and I'm concerned that the w2k AHCI driver may not be fully compatible with newer disks.
  4. Did you EnableBigLBA? I have a how-to link in one of my threads.
  5. What drivers did you use for z77 AHCI, chipset and video?
  6. Makes no sense... which is it? The other Topic doesn't mention an SSD. Are you saying that's the Setup that USED TO BOOT and now DOES NOT for some reason? Can you elaborate? Laptop booted fine with the original spinning disk but not with the SSD.
  7. I put an OCZ-VERTEX4 SDD in my laptop, which previously booted win2k, but now no disk access, "cannot find NTOSKRNL.EXE".
  8. I don't get it, how can you rewrite DLLs without the source code?
  9. So I extract "IE6.0SP1-KB2809289-WINDOWS2000-X86-ENU.EXE" 4MB and then delete the 3 GB "Windows_KB913086_2013-03.iso"?
  10. OK I'm downloading now. A 3 GB file! What kind of update is this ?!
  11. You mean this --> MS13-021? But it doesn't install in 2000.
  12. I think so. That's blackwingcat's work, not mine. You can just install the newest version (using Application Compatibility Launcher or just the portable release which is system independent). Make sure to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox' settings before updating it. In Firefox if you watch mostly Flash videos, then you need the hardware acceleration -- correct?
  13. Thank you, that wasn't easy to find: Follow link above ^ to a link named "Windows 2000 Download Archive", then in "Windows 2000 Download Archive" click "Enter Archive", then from the list click link to "Windows2000", then from the next listing select "Updates", then from the next list click "IE", in the next listing select "2792100", and from the next list select one of the "IE6.0SP1-KB2792100-WINDOWS2000-X86-XXX.EXE" where XXX is the language of your choice.
  14. You can get a Win7-like taskbar by increasing the size of the "title bar" in Display Properties. Wide taskbar is easier to see in high-resolution monitors, and much easier to aim at with a remote mouse in a HTPC. Example below, with titlebar set to 34 pixels. That allows for full-size icons in the taskbar, very nice. But you can see the problem, some of the controls also resize to 32 pixels. That includes icons and check-boxes. XP is even worse because the Start menu becomes gigantic too, whereas in Win2k menus are not affected. Is there a way to hack the Scheme settings in the registry so as to control the size of the other controls? Incidentally, you can get fat Tabs in Firefox by adding the following in userChrome.css /* Tab bar: Custom Tab Height */ .tabbrowser-tab { height: 50px !important; min-height: 50px !important; max-height: 50px !important; }
  15. UHS-I flash drive on ASMedia USB 3.0 controller. Funny thing, it runs at 83 MB/sec then sometimes at 43 MB/sec, no pattern, you unplug it, then plug it back in and it changes speed.
  16. Thank you, I couldn't find IE6 Cumulative Update for 2000 . . . but ASMedia AHCI worked, I love the new logo. Is that a feather? Now we need some new Firefox, still stuck with v12.0
  17. Thank you TomasZ ASmedia 106x SATA 1.3.8.0 Controller Sata6G for Windows 2000 ASMedia USB 3.0 Driver v1.16.1.0 for Windows 2000
  18. Good morning, so I'm finally trying to do this. -- Item 1 installed -- Where is item 2? I found references to "IE6.0SP1-KB2722913-WINDOWS2000-X86-ENU.EXE" but I can't find it. -- Downloaded + installed item 3 (Windows2000-UpdateRollup2-SrvExt-v2-x86-ENU.exe) -- Downloaded item 4 (Windows2000-UURollup-v10e-d20130312-x86-ENU.7z) but how do you install? Finally the link to ASMedia SATA driver is dead.
  19. I get error msg but I dismiss it and Cinebench runs OK after that. (Entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW in PSAPI.DLL)
  20. Now you have me confused, I thought XP video drivers didn't work in W2K! Isn't that why BWC is publishing modified versions?
  21. So what is the new driver for graphics? BWC shows 2012/6/24 Version 12.4 -- is that it? If I know the right driver for Trinity I can modify the .INF and post the results here. I've already deleted Windows 8 and installed Linux Mint on the new laptop, so I'm gonna try putting w2k on flash drive.
  22. So we have no w2k video driver for Trinity? And "ati1010w2k" doesn't work on APUs?
  23. So I installed Win2k on my new laptop. It’s a Samsung NP365E5C-S01US with an A8-4500M quad APU /w Radeon HD 7640G I had to disable AHCI in BIOS else it BSOD. Drivers: \ahcix86-2k3_2_1540_53\ahcix86.inf,Napa_i386_ahci8086 \ati1010w2k\CX106098.inf,0 I couldn’t get the video driver to load, so I was stuck at 800x600. Any success stories?
  24. Update: USB 3.0 works with ASMedia USB 3.0 Driver v1.16.1.0 for Windows 2000 This is the best mobo for Win2k that I’ve found so far. It’s the latest high performance AM3+ from Asus and it’s a straightforward install requiring only the AHCI driver slipstreamed. It runs Bulldozer FX CPUs, the new 8-core Vishera, and Steamroller yet to be released. The only problem I see is that at present FX and later CPUs would run unthrottled, because neither Win2K’s “cool and quiet” nor K10stat works with FX architecture. We’ll have to wait till someone writes a utility.
  25. Wow, how did I miss this! Would this driver work on990FX Sabertooth R2.0? OK I tested, USB 3.0 works !! When I first installed the driver, my SDHC UHS-I flash drive was reading 75-80 MB/s but after I rebooted it dropped down to 42 MB/s. Why is that?
