  1. My exact same suspicion, but it is a "long standing" topic, since December 2009 and accessing it as: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=140247 should always work (and it DID NOT ). Another suspect may be the presence of forward slashes in the title, currently working (stoopid friendly name) link is: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/140247-trace-windows-7-bootshutdownhibernatestandbyresume-issues/ the actual title being: Trace Windows 7 boot/shutdown/hibernate/standby/resume issues which means that the board software doesn't particularly like forward slashes Or maybe the combination of BOTH dashes(please read as spaces) and forward slashes? jaclaz
  2. What the ....! It did exist , here is a google cache of it: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:G3x0j3P_lGwJ:www.msfn.org/board/topic/140247-trace-windows-7-bootshutdownhibernatestandbyresume-issues/page__st__320+site:msfn.org+xbootmgr+msfn&cd=5 jaclaz
  3. Hmmm. There are IMHO two basic misunderstandings: You use either makeisofs or cdimage.exe (if you are from MS) or oscdimg.exe and NOT Nero to create the .iso If you really want to use Nero to create the .iso, you will need to study it a bit, it does allow for all three El-Torito standards: Floppy emulation (the one that you probably are using), No-emulation (the one that you should use), and hard-disk emulation (VERY rarely used) Now, how to create an XP/2003 install .iso with mkisofs is on a good half of the internet, (the other half containing info about using cdimage.exe or oscdimg.exe). Info on how to create such a .iso with Nero is also available, but hard to find, and probably not exact to the version you are using. In any case from what you posted your source is - to say the least - "queer" as it looks like using the Vista or 7 based BOOTMGR and it's \boot\ folder (most probably containing a BCD store). So you will need anyway to study quite a bit to be able to replicate that bootable .iso approach. Choose a path, but choose wisely. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097576/quotes?qt0357926 jaclaz
  4. There is NO way you can "fix" the actual drive. (NOT a DYI kind of job, unfortunately ) The most you can do, when it happens to actually load "properly" is to make a "forensic like" image of the disk, a suitable app is this one: http://www.datarescue.com/photorescue/v3/drdd.htm How many disk do you have? How is the "problematic" disk connected? You will need also: another hard disk with enough space to contain the WHOLE size of the "problematic disk" (i.e. if it is a 500 Gb disk, you need a 640 Gb one to host the 500 Gb sized image) possibly an USB or firewire adapter to connect the "problematic" disk should direct connection to motherboard prove to create problems. Once and if, in one pass or in several partial attempts, you will have managed to have the image, you can try using programs like TESTDISK and PHOTOREC: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk or, actually adviced in this case, DMDE: http://softdm.com/ to attempt to recover the partition(s) or, should this attempt fail, the actual files. If you don't succeed in creating the image (due to any reason) your ONLY hope is to find a professional disk/data recovery service, and they aren't cheap . jaclaz
  5. Link #1 and #3 are OK. Link #2 is "a suffusion of yellow" : http://www.thateden.co.uk/dirk/ NO idea what it is meant for. Adapter in link #1 has been reported as working allright : Please note how the link #3, ALSO allright is the actual "shifter" originally used, which has a dedicated note in point #11 of the read-me-first: (which you obvioulsy failed to READ FIRST ) NOW, would be nice if you read it, particularly point #10 and #11. jaclaz
  6. You should rather appreciate that you have a clicking drive (that is NOT a BSY or a LBA0 problem) and the thread you posted to is ONLY about BSY and LBA0 issues, like: Long answer: start a NEW thread (aptly titled) for your problem, the present thread is for OTHER problems ONLY. Short answer: you have a failing drive, buy a new one. Corollary to the short answer: there is NOTHING you can do about it (and fixing it by a professional will cost WAY more than buying a new one), just backup it's contents (if you can access them) then throw it away. jaclaz
  7. While we are being pedantic, you might rephrase this pleonasme. Sure , you are very right please read it as either: or: I may venture in a : jaclaz
  8. It's not stupid by itself, it is simply illogical asking it here, on page #177 of a thread illustrating a rather complex method to solve the problem. See here: READ BOTH the read-me-first AND the FGA's FIRST (they are there to hopefully avoid having the SAME questions asked again and again): That would be FGA #1 (and yes it is the first frequently given answer because it is a VERY frequently asked question). Unless of course you think we are a bunch of sadists that like to suggest complex methods when simply swapping a PCB would do. jaclaz
  9. Aerostudio has a dedicated Forum here: http://reboot.pro/forum/72/ jaclaz
  10. I will also take back "normal" and replace it with "traditionally used" or "usual", like in "traditionally used ABnormal" or "usual, ABnormal". http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072431/quotes jaclaz
  11. You asked for shareware and for gap sensing. The normal procedure is to record and later post process it. Sorry I didn't get that you wanted Freeware and "splitting on the fly". jaclaz
  12. OBVIOUSLY there are programs capable of detecing a pause and interpret it as a track separation. A known one is: http://www.polderbits.com/ Current version is Version 9.0 build 128. Feature is available since version 1.6: Still OBVIOUSLY, your actual mileage may vary . jaclaz
  13. NOT what you asked about , but something that you may find of interest (courtesy of the Wayback Machine ): http://web.archive.org/web/20080212043653/mmk.f4.fhtw-berlin.de/?page_id=40/lang-pref/en/ http://web.archive.org/web/20080205095811/mmk.f4.fhtw-berlin.de/?page_id=108/lang-pref/en/ The newish versions are XP only , and finding a 2K version seems like NOT easy ( cannot say if any of the XP version can work on 2k ) http://www.pixolution.de/sites/ImageSorter_en.html jaclaz
  14. No , I think he simply doesn't know the difference that exists between owning a license and "owning" a WAREZ .iso. jaclaz
  15. You "own" the ISO files? Even that of Windows 7 [All in One]? Even that of Hiren's Boot CD? I never seen one of their licenses and/or certificate of authenticity..... Can you scan it and post an image (wipe your personal data if any). jaclaz
  16. You joking, right, you buy 3 (three) adapters for the price of one! (and yes, I am cheap ) jaclaz
  17. If I were you I would first try with a less bloated burning app: http://www.imgburn.com/ I would also check ASPI layer/Manager/Driver/whatever: http://www.nu2.nu/aspi/ http://aspi.radified.com/ jaclaz
  18. Generally speaking "universal laptop MAINS adapters" or "universal laptop POWER adapters"or "universal AC adapters" or "universal power bricks" have a number of different, exchangeable connectors. As long as the specs (Voltage) are the same and (Amperes) are the same (or more) than your original adapter they will do allright. Now, would there be a difference between a "slim" one sold for US$ 89.99 (rebated, was $ 129.99 ): http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6455242&CatId=608 and one sold on the SAME site, with same 90W power for US$ 29.99: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6598168&CatId=608 jaclaz
  19. Yep , only, just as happened on "Smash lab", Season 2, Episode 1 (where actual tailhooks applied to a car were tested): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Smash_Lab_episodes passengers in a speeding wheeled carrier that "careens off a road and plummets in a ravine" (in the sense of deep narrow steep-sided valley ) appear flabbergasted and unhappy. jaclaz
  20. Well, before buying a new MB I would rather check what is the cause of the error (I doubt it is SATA drive - as long as in BIOS you set it/them in "IDE compatibility mode"). That error is traditionally connected with WIN.COM: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/153044/en-us But can actually be due to almost anything. How much RAM has the system? Which BIOS settings did you have? jaclaz
  21. I can see NO cars, nor vehicles over there. AFAIK there are ONLY carriages and waggons and of course many Pullmans. But they also have no motor or engine, so I still have to find out what kind of apparatus is the accelerator foot pedal linked connected to under the hood. Also, since there is no fuel, nor gasoline, nor diesel, nor coal, the only way to move them is with (rather biggish ) rubber-bands. A common commuting commodity is the wheelbarrow..... jaclaz
  22. Which translates to: It is possible to use the Autoplay function of the Truecrypt volume: http://www.ehow.com/how_7241339_autoplay-truecrypt-mounted-volume.html But if I were you, I would use NIRCMD: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html With a simple NIRCMD .ncl script, that executes the needed actions, like: execmd "C:\Documents and Settings\e38662\My Documents\TrueCrypt\TrueCrypt.exe" /v "F:\FDriveFiles" /l m /q exec2 show "M:\Applications\CLCL" "M:\Applications\CLCL\CLCL.exe" Say that you call it myscript.ncl you just create a shortcut to: C:\whatever\nircmd.exe script myscript.ncl and add it in the startup folder. You may want to add a "wait" command to give some time to truecrypt to have the drive accessible. jaclaz
  23. Care to provide a link? Is it this one? http://www.nakka.com/soft/clcl/index_eng.html Myabe yes, maybe not. If you start a GUI app (that waits for input) from a batch, the "parent" console will remain open, that's normal. As said you can minimize or hide the console, but maybe there could be other ways to start the app. Can you try stating what your actual GOAL is? jaclaz
  24. The usual recommendations (by me) are: More details here: http://reboot.pro/13675/page__st__126 The above equates to: Try using RMPREPUSB first thing: http://reboot.pro/7739/ http://sites.google.com/site/rmprepusb/ More tools: http://reboot.pro/9460/ jaclaz
  25. What is clcl.exe? If you start an app - and expecially with the /WAIT parameter - it will stay open until the called program ends execution. BTW, NEVER use start without the "title" (or a pair of double quotes): http://ss64.com/nt/start.html it tend to give any kind of strange behaviour. If you don't want the command console open you can use another program to start it minimized or hidden. jaclaz
