GeneralMandible replied to ripken204's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
If I through in my other PC's and my X-Box, I could add another 44 GB's. I'm going to have to work on getting into the TB club. -

You got all that size, but do you know how to use it? The HD, that is. I mean that device with the shiney round things and the head...I give up. -

At least we didn't get into the size of our CD and FD. -
Why would you listen to Enigma?

I think you might have misunderstood her! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> HD stands for Hard DISK I have 2 120 GB in RAID 0, which gives me about 230 GB. I stay about 10-50 GB free. 40+ GB in games. 6 GB of installed programs. 35 GB in profiles, virtual machines, and application install packages/patches. 5 GB in music. The rest in vid and misc. -
Well, I've tried her on my laptop, but you run the risk of breaking something. While the desktop saves you from that issue, it is rather uncomfortable. So I prefer to use a bed. Comfortable and roomy. ...or did I misinterpret the question?

I don't see where I threatened anyone. I just gave a quick history lesson with a smart a** comment. I don't hate all people that drink Coke, just like I don't like everyone that drinks Pepsi. I don't like Hitler because he was a nut-job who persecuted millions of people. I don't like Al-Qaeda because for one thing they attack civilian targets. If all the Coke or Pepsi executives were in any way involved with terrorism, I wouldn't drink them. If you like races, religious groups, fanatics, etc. with a God complex just because they like Coke, you got a whole truckload of issues. If anyone took offense to what I said, then they must feel guilty.

One of these kids is not like the others, One of these kids is doing his own thing. Pest Patrol is good, but it has a lot of false positives. You have to train it not to detect certain things. Spysweeper is really good though...the only one I'd tell people to buy. But if you know what you're doing on the internet, Spybot, Ad-Aware, MSAS with FireFox and antivirus installed along with a good firewall, you won't have a problem. (all free) -
Icons change position on restart
GeneralMandible replied to GeneralMandible's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
I guess it's official...no one knows. The solution would be to upgrade to XP, I guess. -
Icons change position on restart
GeneralMandible replied to GeneralMandible's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Auto-arrange is not on. A couple of settings are pushed out with group policy, but this is only happening to maybe 6 2K machines in 300. So I don't think it's that. Any other ideas? -
I have some Windows 2000 (no problems with 98 or XP) users that are having this issue. On reboot, the desktop icons all rearrange and move to the left. None of the arrangement features are checked (auto-arrange, By name, etc.) Has anyone seen this before? Do you know of a fix?

I agree. I've been using Sygate for 3 years now. No Problems.

I would also recommend Spyware Blaster, which blocks a lot of things from getting on your machine. It works with IE and Firefox. Another good tool to use is LSPFix. If you can get an IP but can't connect to the internet, use this. -
A projector is the best. There's nothing like watching movies on an 8ft screen in your basement.
-
You must have bad luck It does have a lot of stuff there, but he should make recommendations on some of the software. Some of the stuff on there is excellent, while others kind of suck. Also, why create a page on AOL privacy and security. All you need to do is uninstall it, then delete everything that wasn't removed by uninstalling it, get a different ISP, and install Firefox. You may need to reinstall Windows while you're at it.

I had to say Norton because that is what I use, and it's been good so far. I use Anti-Virus and Ghost.

XP install not running unattended
GeneralMandible replied to GeneralMandible's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I used ProductKey & that seemed to do the trick. I guess I should double check Microsoft's work. -
Both, and I've heard "...console and chair". This was about the only domain available with that name. It works for me.

XP install not running unattended
GeneralMandible replied to GeneralMandible's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I used the setupmgr.exe that came with the CD to create the winnt.sif file, and that is what it put in. I'll try it next using ProductKey and see if that makes a difference. -
XP install not running unattended
GeneralMandible replied to GeneralMandible's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
It asks for name and organization, computer name, admin password, country settings & time zone, cd key. The app installs are working after windows installs, but it's not performing the autologon either. Something's a little funked up. -
I've created a winnt.sif file and copied it to the i386 folder on my CD. The textmode goes fine. When the GUI part comes up it's prompting me for all the information that is in my winnt.sif. Has anyone had this problem before? I used nLite to slipstream SP1a and remove features.
