I just found that two of my machines were targets of smurf attacks. Little blue, half-naked men with pitch forks...just kidding. They were caught by our systems so no worries. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced these. Let me know. Thanks!

3-way tie so far. 6-10 hours seems common place, with a few gung ho hardcore non-sleepers. I do that every once in a long while. The kids ruined that for me when they were babies.

I did these things plus upgraded to DirectX 9c ... no crashes! Amazing how the latest drivers seem to cure 99% of problems. Thanks all!

So far this seems great. I have it connect to our network and can browse the web, check email, and I figured out how to print last night. I haven't crashed it yet either. I've had apps lock up for a few minutes, but I just send them to a different desktop and wait for them to get back to normal while I do other things. If I can map to my network drives I'll be cookin' with Crisco. Later.

I'm going to try out the ATI 4.9 beta drivers. Also running a defrag, file system was pretty bad. I'll let you know if this works.

Does anyone have problems with Doom 3 randomly locking up and crashing? Do you think it is the No-CD crack? If so, I guess I'll have to go to putting the CD in. Thanks!

Well, I couldn't wait. I have it installed on a workstation and am going to install the GroupWise email client. I won't be able to connect it to the network until I hear back from our Cyber Security officer. Once I get an ok on that I will try to focus on doing most of my work on that machine to see how it works. More updates soon.

I read some articles where they use plasma and extreme pressure to manufacture flawless diamonds (not cubic zirconia) by the brick. They plan on using it in the next generation of computer chips replacing silicon. That should blow out the diamond industry.

Thanks for all the info, prathapml! I'm excited to get started, but won't really be able to get into it for a couple of weeks. TCP/IP and ADS support will be great. I've looked at the office suites before and they seem pretty nice. I might be toying with the Ximian stuff too. I'll get back to this post after some testing.

Since I'm in BFE I ordered mine this morning. I'll test it out on my 120" screen when I get it (it will scare my 3 yr old out of the room ). UT04 was pretty nice on it.

Ok, I know this is a MS SW forum, which I use extensively, but I am going to be testing Suse Linux for Desktops at work. I was just wondering if anybody here has tried it and would like to get feedback on it. Any info on how it works on a MS network, does it use MS Office format for documents, whatever. Thanks ahead of time.

I started checking it out for the info on unattended installs and nLite. Then I noticed it covered a lot of things I'm interested in, so I signed up and it's been educational. Won't be too long and I'll be at 2^6 (64). Only 4 to go. I'm halfway there!

Using MS logic it should be out at the end of the month. They said the 4th but they really meant the 14th. Then they get your hopes up and say things are looking good and it will be the 13th. Finally, they say that they transposed the numbers and it will be out on the 31st.

Wow, no address to email to on the website. After looking again, I would add a link for silent install instructions on each download page. Just the way I would lay it out.

I can't remember how, but I stumbled across that page. It made things a lot easier. I think they should put a link on their main page. I'll email them and see if they even respond.
