  1. Please no Nero 8 discussion here please Did anyone notice I added my own digital signature to Nero 7 Lite? This should silent Windows Vista warning screens when downloaded from the net. You can also verify to makes sure Nero 7 Lite didn't get altered by someone else but me
  2. Nero 7 Lite 7.0.10.1 Final Pre-Release Nero 7 Lite 7.0.10.1 Europe (45 MB) - Fixed serial activation issues again - Added digital signature Note: This version is a somewhat mixed-up version for testing purposes. I still have no idea what's causing the C++ crash while opening the SVCD create dialog using Micro version. If this version is ok, I can work on stripping this lite build by trimming off CoverDesigner and WaveEditor.
  3. Well, I have fixed the serial activation issues now, however I'm not able to solve the C++ crash on VCD/SVCD creation with Nero Micro builds. It seems like that whenever I solve a problem, other bugs show up rapidly
  4. I have done some more tests now. You can get a c++ error when trying to create a VCD or SVCD, when you have installed using the Demo serial and while using a micro build. I hope I can fix it for final. I'm also doing some work on fixing the serial activation issues.
  5. I have also noticed no serial is entered on Windows Vista with latest version. I guess some permission problem @Outman, thanks for sharing this information. I'll include those updated icons in next micro release.
  6. Nero 7 Lite RC7 Nero 7 Lite RC7 Micro Changes between RC-5 and RC-7 - Fixed VCD/SVCD video compression - Nero Product Setup cosmetic fixes Last RC for now. Multi-langual this time. Please report any issues please!
  7. nLite doesn't include any updates from Microsoft, so I don't think Microsoft will sue nuhi for creating nLite. The problem with AutoPatcher is that without much hassle you still could get your system updated. People creating updatepacks for use with slipstreaming might get a warning from Microsoft, but for example to make use of RyanVM's Update Pack you have to completely reinstall your system. Something most people won't do every month! I personally make use of HFSLIP, which seems to do everything fine. Even better than nLite most of the times.
  8. I think Microsoft should first try to make IE7 better, than just upping the version number. As a webdesigner I normally support current an previous version of all major Internet Browsers. I currently support IE6 and IE7, Firefox 1.5 and 2, Opera 9 (people who use Opera will upgrade to latest version anyway) However when browsers get released too frequent there can be problems. Especially when there are changes to the rendering engine. I was not planning on ending support for IE6 yet, but when IE8 arrives early I am forced to do so
  9. No MetaPad or other 3rd party tools please. A service pack should be as clean as possible. I'm suprised Gape has started developing for Windows 98 again. I personally wouldn't put that much energy in it.
  10. I've noticed SVCD support is broken in latest Nero 7 Lite. I'm going to include a lot more filters to allow adding more formats to properly create VCD/SVCD's. I've also modified the Nero ProductSetup tool to disable the Install/Uninstall section. MP3 audio skipping should be fixed way back by Nero itself. I've not seen any reports about it with latest versions. Personally I'm quite busy right now. If there's any demand for a specific localized build I can upload one temporary.
  11. Nice to see some people can actually use Nero 7 Lite now I have uploaded a new SDK tonight, see http://updatepack.nl/nero_lite. You might also try using the Inno one click installation I made, updating Inno Setup to use latest components. Next release will be final, so no RC anymore!
  12. I'm glad Nero 7 Lite actually seems stable now Rahgul: Quicklaunch icon changed now. Thanks for report. About the Update prompt. Have you tried uninstalling Nero 7 Lite and reinstalling yet? Alex: Thanks for noticing ndaudio wasn't updated. Also fixed CoverDesigner uninstall cleaning. I think something is wrong with the Nero dll registering on your setup. On a clean installation you get a different input dialog window: You might scan with dependency walker to see if there's a problem here. Try scanning all the NeroFileDialog.dll and ShellManager dlls after installation to see where the program lies. vpn-user: I'll update SDK today.
  13. Nero 7 Lite RC5 available! This one has the Access Violation bug fixed. This was a true show stopper for getting to final version. I need people to test for serial activation issues. When you enter your serial, does it get accepted or not, just anything. If you are not satisfied with latest version please tell me so hopefully it get fixed. Alex, your odd filepath bug is new to me and I can't reproduce your error on Windows Vista. Could you please try RC-5? RaGhul, please test latest RC5 version. If the problem still occurs can you exactly describe what problem you get. Is it the Update prompt or some other window?
  14. Hi, Alex You don't have to use Nero 7 Lite if you don't like it. It's not by purpose that some bugs still show up after several builds. If you look at the SDK you might notice I have added a lot of code just to speak to an MySQL database. As I have very limited knowledge about programming it took a while to get this far. About Windows Vista: I don't use it on my system, for anything else but testing in VmWare, so it's possible that I can't caught some bugs easily. I totally forgot about the Quicklaunch icon in Windows Vista. I had that commented out because earlier versions of Inno Setup did put this icon in the Admin Quicklaunch folder, in stead of the Users. It's solved for next version. It may take some time to get everything right, but I think of this as a much cleaner method than using old dlls or other hacks. Great news, the invalid pointer / and Acces Violation bug is solved. By specifying to use long integer this bug wasn't that hard after all, but I was looking in wrong directions. Anyway I have learned a lot about pointers, dll calls etc so I don't think of it as wasted time. If everything goes fine RC5 will get released tonight.
  15. I have also noticed the acces violation error in Windows Vista. It just needs another fix then. The upgrade prompt after manually entering the serial in Nero ProductSetup is a known issue and won't get fixed. You can workaround it by applying the famous regtweak. The missingfilesstate regkey is always overwritten by the Nero ProductSetup tool, even if you modify the access rights to read-only.
  16. Nero Lite v7.11.10.0 & v8.3.13.0 What's this about? Nero Lite is an custom created installer for the main Nero Burning Rom applications. It also comes with unattended switches to make it install silently Why don't you use Nero 7/8? Nero 7/8 has become bloatware and it's difficult to make the setup program install silently. Also by default Nero installs a lot of DirectShow filters which may interfere with my video recording software. Why not use another burning program? When it comes to burning Nero does have an intuitive user interface, has proven stability and compatibility with most burners. It may even supports burning HD-DVD and BlueRay, and it can print Labelflash cd's. But face it, there are other free cd burning applications in development which are making progress. If you want a free burning program I can recommend ImgBurn. Its user interface is not exactly like Nero, but it will do all burning tasks just fine. Recently a new project got my attention: InfraRecorder. InfraRecorder is open source, lightweight and the interface works just like Nero. Although it looks nice, it is not very stable yet. Do I loose functionality when switching to Nero Lite? I try to keep Nero Lite functionality as complete as possible, so definitely usability over space. Of course I do remove a lot of stuff, but none of these is essential for burning plain cd's. If you ran into a problem, don't be shy to post. Micro version is for people who only want a full functional Nero Burning ROM version, but without any extra software like CoverDesigner and WaveEditor. Where can I download Nero Lite? [url Removed]. Are there any known Issues: Nero 7: Manually entering a serial with Nero ProductSetup Tool after installation might cause the More features available prompt. Use [attachment removed] to disable this message. Are there any custom unattended switches? Generally, look up Inno Setup documentation to read about commandline switches. The following list contains switches most used in unattended setup scripts /SILENT If a reboot is needed Setup will ask you. /VERYSILENT Automatic reboot without asking. /NORESTART No reboot, even if necessary. /USER="UserName" Specifies User Name /COMPANY="MyCompany" Specifies Company Name /SERIAL="XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX" Specifies Serial Number /TYPE="SetupType" Specifies Setup Type. Enter compact and only Nero Burning Rom will be installed.
  17. What builds are you people trying anyway. It looks like most people report back about Nero 7.9.6.0 which doesn't support activation. I'm releasing a new RC tonight, but I will create a new topic for it.
  18. I don't know why you get that error message spoof. Did you had installed Nero 7 or Nero 7 Lite before on that system? Is this a 32-bit system or 64-bit system? Good news, I might have fixed the C++ Runtime error which occurs when updating the serial number.
  19. As promised here are links for Nero 7 Lite 7.0.10.1 RC3: Nero 7 Lite 7.0.10.1 RC3 Nero 7 Lite 7.0.10.1 RC3 (Micro) Changes between RC2 and RC3: - Fixed invalid argument type on dll call - Reduced flashing windows on serial activation Try to test for any invalid pointer operation or access violation errors when clicking the next button on the serial registration window as noticed by Jordi.c. You can test multiple times by clicking the back and next buttons. P.S. I would really like to hear some opinions about Nero 7 Lite.
  20. Does this happen everytime you run the installer? I have reproduced errors like these, but they only show up occasionaly. Anyway I have made some changes to the dll calling part and it seems to be fixed. I might release another RC just to make sure this error is solved.
  21. RaGhul, I don't know what you mean about the installation hanging? Is it just waiting until the script finishes (configlicense.exe active in taskmanager) or do you experience the window not getting redrawn when setup has finished. The last issue is normal and is probably due to registering of Nero 7 dlls. Stop asking for other ways of activation. Just deal with it. In final version I have already made disappear most of the flashy stuff. Nlitened, What OS are you installing on? You might also try to remove the start /wait command as it don't work this way and is unnecessary in a batch script.
  22. Hi RaGhul, I will host final version of Nero 7 Lite from my site. These builds are only uploaded temporary for testing purposes. Thank you for sharing your info abot public file upload services. I didn't know about MiHD yet. Nero 7 Lite 7.0.10.1 RC2 Nero 7 Lite 7.0.10.1 RC2 (Micro) Issues hopefully solved between RC1 and RC2: - More features available prompt ignored - Wait for user input on "demo serial expired" and "overwrite existing serial" prompts - Anti-Virus update functionality fixed - Lots of minor bug fixes and code optimisations Known issues: Manually entering a serial with Nero ProductSetup Tool after installation might cause the More features available prompt. Use the MissingFilesState regtweak to disable this message: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ahead\Installation\Families\Nero 7\Info] "MissingFilesState"="0" I will open a new topic when final version is released, although don't expect any big changes after RC2.
  23. ...or help me to do it myself ? You can download DriveSpeed seperately from http://www.cdspeed2000.com/download.html. To make a silent installer just use plain batch commands to copy the files inside the zip file to your harddrive. Thats very basic stuff.
  24. Anyone tested last version? I need some feedback, otherwise bugs will show up on final version. Especially activation issues or failed silent installs are show stoppers and need to get addressed before going final. I'm not interested in updating the Final version if people are to lazy to give some feedback on Nero 7 Lite RC. And another progress update. I have managed to fix Nero Anti-Virus library update bug. I will include a helper Anti-Virus file in lite and micro builds (23kb) that I have overlooked. So even when you download the Micro version you will be able to use Anti-Virus functionality later on, after updating the anti-virus library
  25. OK, please stay on topic people I have managed to integrate sqlite functionality to fix activation links in the upgrade window and access to the Nero ProductSetup tool from within Nero will work now: http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=YDBPW66K Lots of internal changes and hopefully some bugs squeezed so it will finally be time to release Nero 7 Lite 7.0.10.1 in all flavours. I also have updated the SDK and Inno Setup package: http://updatepack.nl/nero_lite/
