I have completed resource optimizations for Nero 8 Lite now. This was a lot of work. I have also fixed the problems I earlier reported. Furthermore I have removed some component options to clean up the component selection window a bit. These components are not removed, they are now indeed installed by default. Another change is that Turkish language will be moved from European to Asian package, so Asian package will contain the following languages now: Chinese Trad/Simpl, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Russian and Turkish. Thanks for all support. P.S. Nero 8 Lite will be 39.5 MB, Nero 8 Micro 19.0 MB for English Language. Releases are planned for tomorrow, both Lite and Micro builds for all languages.

I'm sorry but I need some more time to fix some dependancy problems (VideoCD support/ Nero Digital Encoding). However Windows Vista tests seems not to cause any big problems yet and also activation does work on that platform. So to speed things a bit up I will skip public beta testing and go release final versions when these minor problems are fixed.

I just want to say Nero 8 doesn't compress very well. I have completed work on resource optimisations for both Nero 8 Micro English and European, so I can predict final filesize now: Nero 8 Micro English: 18.1 MB Nero 8 Micro European: 22.8 MB I still have to do more work on Nero 8 Lite, but filesize should not be much larger than Nero 7 Lite releases.

STATUS REPORT NERO 8 Lite I have been spending some time doing resource optimisations. Resource optimisations will be done also for Lite builds, otherwise Nero Lite would become 60 MB or more in size.

VC++ 2005 Redist doesn't depend on .NET. However it does require Windows Installer 3, which you can find here. As including also Windows Installer 3.0 is making Nero Lite even more bigger, while most users won't need to install it anyway (Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista). A new SDK will be released after I bring out Nero 8 Lite.

Luckily the current script is less than 100.000 lines in code, but thanks for noticing the new version

Here is a status report about Nero 8 Lite: I have rewritten the autoit script to support newest Nero ControlCenter tool, so activating will work fine. The next version of Nero 8 Lite will also include the VC++2005 redist files and Windows Installer version detection, as Nero 8 Lite will require Windows Installer 3 to be installed first. The release of Nero 8 Lite is planned for somewhere later this week.

This time no beta or rc releases! Nero 7 Lite 7.10.1.2 changes: - Upgraded Nero to 7.10.1.2 - Fixed existing serial detection (again) - Minor code optimizations. Go to updatepack.nl for download! (yes this is spam ) P.S. I will continue to work on Nero 8 Lite / Micro, I just release this first to check if some bugs are fixed.

Here some tips how to properly unextract Nero installer using Universal Extractor: 1. Extract Nero-7.10.1.2_all_trial.exe with Universal Extractor 2. Run the extracted SetupX.exe and run the wizard until the registration dialog comes up. (This is the point I read out the Demo serial number). 3. Abort the installer. 4. In subdir Cab you can extract nero.msi with Universal Extractor. Choose Administrative install. The following steps are optional 5. [Optional] Create a batch script with the following code to allow quick installation of Nero: nero.cmd start /b nero.msi STARTPARAM=CallFromExe DONOTRUNSETUPX=1 exit 6. Copy directory SETUP from Extracted Nero-7.10.1.2_all_trial.exe path to your new created installer.

Please try without the start /wait command. In a batch file all commands are processed one by one anyway. So your commandline would look like: %AppsRoot%\wpi\install\nero\Nero.exe /SERIAL="****-****-****-****-****-****-****" /NORESTART /SILENT

Alex, I'm not sure what your trying to tell, but it doesn't matter anymore. Nero 7 Lite / Micro official builds available from http://updatepack.nl To make distribution a bit easier I have only three packages available: English, Asian and European containing all languages. Changelog since Nero 7 Pre-Release: + Minor code changes to improve existing serial detection + Cosmetic change: default language hidden from components selection

I have moved some files back from Lite version to Micro version. This increazes Micro setup size a bit, but at least it will work. Good news is that latest Inno Setup does better on compression so it compensates for it.

Someone apparently found it useful to use my published SDK to create WAREZ versions of Nero 8. These versions may use parts of the Nero 7 SDK, which I published, but are not created by me and are probably not signed. Since last RC I sign all my installers with a personal key and I will not distribute any serial other than DEMO serials. If you like Nero than buy it, or use the keys which came from your OEM DVD-burner. That's why I built Nero Lite in the first place: to use the software that came with my DVD-burner, without messing up my system. Anyway I have made some progress on my new site. You can take a preview at updatepack.nl how it will look like.

@Alex, My internet connection is upgraded from 3Mbit/s to 20Mbit/s. I also have a new computer with a fast dualcore processor and plenty of diskspace. This means I don't necessarily have to make lite versions of software to make it run better on my computer. However I still think it is useful to continue support this larger project also for others who needs a burning suite to run on a less than ideal computer configuration.

I already have updated Nero SDK to be more compatible with new versions of Nero. This was a lot of work on the background to make the installer system more flexible. I now try to fix bugs caused by the new SDK and remaining bugs from Nero 7 Prerelease. I set up my website this week and release Nero 7.10.1.0 packages. I have downloaded Nero 8 now. It only took me 2 minutes, so for me there is no issue to continue with this project

I have confirmed the WizardBitmapImage2.bmp problem while building latest SDK. The error is caused by ISSI. I'm further investigating this behaviour and will add a workaround for it in next SDK.

I have exactly the same error window as you. I install nero lite with /VERYLSILENT switch on a unattended vista dvd. Then, I import this reg file : Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ; User information [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ahead\Installation\Families\Nero 7\Info] "User"="Kal" "Company"="Kal" "Serial"="xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx" "MissingFilesState"="0" "EulaAccepted"="1" If I launch nero I get the FATAL ERROR window. If I remove the serial from the registry, then I can enter it manually with Nero ProductSetup. After that, It works like a charm. It just add the serial in the same registry location, except the key name is something like "Serial7_XXXXXXXX", but I can rename it to "Serial" without any problem. So, what's going on ? Thank you for your work Acharon, Kal Don't import your serial after setup! Activation is only done through Setup! This is no rocket science!

The SDK is only for experts who want to modify Nero 7 Setup to their own needs. Normal users can just use the Nero 7.0.10.1 PreRelease version as linked in first post. @Alex, have you read the readme included? I think most of your errors are due to not following the guide.
-
Alex, what error do you get building? I did indeed register and unregister filters manually for testing which filters were involved when using video encoding options. I use the following regentries to add quick register and unregister functions to dlls, ocx and ax files: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;Add Register / Unregister to Right Click Menu of .dll Files [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dllfile\Shell\Register] @="Register" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dllfile\Shell\Register\command] @="regsvr32.exe /s \"%1\"" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dllfile\Shell\Register_Undo\command] @="regsvr32.exe /s /u \"%1\"" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dllfile\Shell\Register_Undo] @="Unregister" ;Add Register / Unregister to Right Click Menu of .ocx Files [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dllfile\Shell\Register] @="Register" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ocxfile\Shell\Register\command] @="regsvr32.exe /s \"%1\"" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dllfile\Shell\Register_Undo] @="Unregister" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ocxfile\Shell\Register_Undo\command] @="regsvr32.exe /s /u \"%1\"" ;Add Register / Unregister to Right Click Menu of .ax Files [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ax] @="dllfile"

I have finally updated Nero 7 SDK to latest version. Now the SDK also comes with a readme and overall I think it will be easier to compile the scripts. Nero7Lite-7.10.1.0_SDK.7z Be sure to first install the Inno Setup Clickonce package, or alternatively use offical Quickstart Pack and include ISPP manually. Inno_Setup_5.2.0_OneClick.7z

I'm currently in the progress of further automating the Nero 7 SDK. This should make it easier to maintain such a large project, and perhaps it allows more functionality to be included in future versions (perhaps Nero 8).
-
retalv, I haven't tested unattended mode that well. It looks like when running VERYSILENT the helper autoit script won't get launched. I look into Inno Documentation to overrrule this behaviour. Thanks for noticing this.
-
Inno Setup 5.2.0 is out and it seems it works fine with Nero 7 Lite script. It seems that something has changed internally resulting in smaller setup files. For example the European installer goes down from 45.6 MB to 44.1 MB

Here some news from me, The past few days I was not able to work on Nero Lite due to moving to another apartment. Basicly the project will be on a hold for a couple of days. I'm glad the Final works ok and I got the Final out in time.
