i have re-downloaded the driverpack many times. i always have the same problem with the compression of some files. i don't understand where is the problem and don't see what could be the cause. it's just said that the permission is denied, as you can see above in the screenshot i took. here i am on another computer, i have downloaded the driverpack & extracted succefully. it's good now.

sorry if the answer to my question has already been given, but there are 2 things i don't understand : 1. there are some directories/files in '$oem$/$1/Drivers/006_storage' that are not compressed using 'makecab' to the 'i386' folder. for example in ..\acard\ there is a directory called '6290'. in the 'patch.cmd', which should add to 'txtsetup.sif' and compress the *.sys to *.sy_ in 'i386', it doesn't add files for '6290' folder. same thing for the 'ali' directory, and maybe for others (i don't have looked for all yet). is it normal ? 2. i have a problem with the 'patch.cmd'. after that the files have been added to 'txtsetup.sif', i have an error for some compressions, because the 'makecab' command doesn't go to 100% but only 99,xx%. i'm using the last pack from BtS, dated from 20th september. here's a screenshot: the problematic files are the 8-9-13-22-23-24-36 : adaptec\i2o\DPTI2O.SYS adaptec\u160\ADPU160M.SYS highpoint\hpt3xx\hpt3xx.sys lsilogic\mraid35x\Mraid35x.sys lsilogic\mylex\dac2w2k.sys lsilogic\mylex\dac960nt.sys qlogic\12160\ql12160.sys thanks for your job.

Unattended XP SP2 : Directx 9.0c problem
r0sWell replied to r0sWell's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
did you splitstreamed the XP SP2 using a tool such nLite 0.98, or manualy, please ? i made it manually, and i had this pb. i'll try to rebuild my ISO this afternoon using nLite 0.98. why i had this "directx.cpl" file in DxDiag, which is problematic ? -
Sims 2 Installation Help (Directx 9.0c problem)
r0sWell replied to siaoant's topic in Gamers Hangout
plz read the new topic i wrote : -> new MSFN topic <- it seems DirectX 9.0c included in SP2 could be the cause. i don"t know how it is possible that directx 9.0c included in XP SP2 can be corrupted or something like that. @siaoant: if u have SP2, then u should have directx 9.0c. if it's an unattended WinXP /w splitstreamed SP2, you could simply have a similar problem to mine. -
Hello, here's my problem (sorry for my english) i noticed that after i have installed my Unattended WinXP SP2, when i run "dxdiag" to open the DirectX 9.0c options/diagnostics, i have a problem with the file "directx.cpl" which is too old and can be source of problem (that's written as a problem). in fact this is the cause of another pb : the game The Sims 2 doesn't want to start because of this (i think, i'll explain just after that). i think that's it, because i formatted and reinstalled a clean Windows XP without any unattended/reg tweaks/service pack, 2-3 hours ago. after that, i updated my clean WinXP with the SP2, and went back to "dxdiag" to see that the "directx.cpl" file isn't there anymore ! that's strange i think. how the directx9.0c of an SP2 unattended XP can be different of the directx9.0c version of the same SP2 but updated for a clean XP ?? if i remember correctly, the directx.cpl version in directx9.0c (for the unattended SP2 XP) was 2600.1126 instead of 2600.2180 but i'm not sure of this. and now in the clean WinXP updated with SP2, i don't have any problem anymore, and "directx.cpl" isn't listed anymore in the list of directx files. thx in advance. ask me if that not clear, i know it's not perfect .

try to uninstall InCD if u have installed it. if yes, this will probably solve your pb (i had the same).

Sims 2 Installation Help (Directx 9.0c problem)
r0sWell replied to siaoant's topic in Gamers Hangout
i have a similar pb. so i'm very interested in solutions too it's so strange because most of the players don't have any problem, with Radeon 9800, XP and SP2.... my hardware : P4 2.4 @ 3.25 2x256 PC 3700 120Gb ATI Radeon 9800 /w Catalyst 4.9 (tested with DNA Drivers 4.9 too) WinXP Pro SP2 (Directx 9.0c integrated) i install The Sims 2 perfectly well, and when i want to launch the game, it tells me that my Radeon 9800 is not DirectX 9.0c compatible !! in English, it means ~ "no DirectX 9.0c compatible graphic card detected! Please check that your computer is equiped with a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphic card, and that the most recent drivers given by the company are installed. The application will be closed" in French: because i don't really see the pb and i use a personal WinXP installation (created with separated 'SP2 splitstreamed' & 'nlite 0.98.8bi (safe) reduction'), i'm thinking about a pb with removing a component that The Sims 2 will need, or other things... can it be possible, that nlite reduction could cause such a bug with dx9.0c or it's something else ? @siaoant: the setup of Directx 9.0c is very very quick because it checks if dx9.0c is already installed or not i think, and if yes so it doesn't reinstall it i wanted to reinstall dx9.0c too, to see if my pb could be resolved, and it doesn't reinstall it (1-2 seconds). thx A LOT in advance for help -
Gosh's Unattended Tips And Tricks
r0sWell replied to gosh's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
not the same function ! CLS : clear the window's screen. @echo off : means that only the texts after "echo" will be displayed, but not the actiions. @echo on : means all texts will be displayed, text after "echo" but tha actions executed too. make a test u'll see @prathapml: yes, that's true that the topic is quite old. it could be good to open new topic for new questions -
Gosh's Unattended Tips And Tricks
r0sWell replied to gosh's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
CLS means Clear Screen. it removes all the lines/characters in the DOS window, so it appears like a new DOS window. i always write it, but it's not really necessary. -
i don't know, but i can tell you that graphic cards drivers are updated ! my ATI Radeon 9800 is perfectly found now, so the screen resolution specified in Winnt.sif is now working. before with a XP SP1a splitstreamed CD, it was not. or another thing u can do is to install the software nLite, to make a reduced CD. all components and drivers are shwon i think.

Gosh's Unattended Tips And Tricks
r0sWell replied to gosh's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
i wanted to use the 'association file types' method too, for my Unattended XP CD. in fact it simply doesn't work at all, for me here is what i use : assoc.bat is launched at the begining of my RunOnceEx.cmd : CLS @echo off REM ftype will also show all registered types assoc .log=txtfile assoc .nfo=txtfile assoc .sfv=txtfile assoc .sif=txtfile assoc .srt=txtfile assoc .sub=txtfile assoc *=txtfile EXIT part from runonceex.cmd : REG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 2 /D "%systemdrive%\Install\assoc.bat" /f i suppose the method can work, my knowlegde in unattended cd creation is not enough advanced, but in my case it has no effect. -
personally i use a VBS file to install K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, because i don't want some codecs which install themselves, even if i don't select them for installation (3ivx in fact). so it permits to entirely select things. a good point i think.

silent install of Alcohol 120% -> new scsi/raid ?

i can't delete 'Program Files' directories -please
r0sWell replied to r0sWell's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
thanks. i think that the pb could be the consequence of WFP turned on too, but i replace SFC_OS.DL_ and disable WFP using reg_tweaks. it doesn't work i think. i'll try with the link posted by Ryan too. -
Hi, here's my problem : i install Alcohol 120% v1.9.2.1705 using RunOnceEx.cmd : REG ADD %KEY%\092 /VE /D "Alcohol 120% 1.9.2.1705" /f REG ADD %KEY%\092 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\Hotfixes\Alcohol120\setup.msi /qn REBOOT=Suppress" /f REG ADD %KEY%\092 /V 2 /D "REGEDIT /S %systemdrive%\Hotfixes\Alcohol120\enregistrement.reg" /f REG ADD %KEY%\092 /V 3 /D "REGEDIT /S %systemdrive%\Hotfixes\Alcohol120\settings.reg" /f when RunOnceEx comes to it, a new message box appears because a new SCSI/RAID hardware has been found. here is a screenshot : so in fact, it tells me that Windows found a scsi/raid controller (i don't have any scsi drive or raid system), and i have to install it. Please help me, when i was working on a SP1a splitstream of XP, there was no problem. I think it's when i came to XP SP2 splitstream that i had this problem. the installation of Alcohol can be at the beginning, middle, or at the end of RunOnceEx.cmd, it doesn't change anything. Thanks for your help.

hi, here's the problem i have, i can't remove some directories in Program Files. They are "in use by Windows". at the end of my RunOnceEx.cmd i made this command : REG ADD %KEY%\095 /VE /D "End of installation and reboot" /f REG ADD %KEY%\095 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\Install\cleanup.cmd" /f in cleanup.cmd here's the part that is problematic : cmdow @ /HID RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Program Files\Common Files" -> useless in French version of XP because there is a 'Fichiers Communs' directory, so i can delete it. RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Program Files\ComPlus Applications" RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Program Files\microsoft frontpage" RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Program Files\msn gaming zone" RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Program Files\netmeeting" RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Program Files\Services en ligne" RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Program Files\windows nt" RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Program Files\xerox" EXIT my unattended XP CD in an original XP CD with the SP2 splitstreamed. 'Common Files' 'ComPlus Applications' 'Services en ligne' --> these 3 directories delete themselves without problem 'microsoft frontpage' 'msn gaming zone' 'netmeeting' 'windows nt' 'xerox' --> these 5 directories contains subdirectories, and cannot be deleted (still "in use"). here is a screenshot of the subdirectories for microsoft frontpage that i can't delete (it's empty, same as the others i want to delete): I tried to delete them at the beginning of my RunOnceEx.cmd too, but it changed nothing. Of course i use the patched SFC_OS.DL_ in the .\i386\ CD directory, plus a tweak to disable the Windows File Protection in my registry_tweaks.reg. Maybe someone knows what is my pb. i really don't see the problem. Note: one time before, using the same registry_tweaks.reg, the same cleanup.cmd, but in a SP1a splitstreamed XP CD, these 8 directories were successfully deleted by RunOnceEx.cmd. Thank you.

Tiny character writing : change caps lock -> shift
r0sWell replied to r0sWell's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
i received your email. i don't have my adsl connection anymore. in 2 weeks it will be back, so i will look for this pb later. i think it should be possible to use the shift key to change to lowercase characters, and capslock only for uppercase characters. bye. -
.net (netfx) install the way mce and tabletpc do
r0sWell replied to bilemke's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I can confirm that this works - and a small tip for ya people.... Since this is going to be only used on WinXP (from its autorun, or from its unattended setup calls), you can delete InstMsi.exe and InstMsiW.exe, and re-claim about 4 MB of space on the CD. To me, that is the main reason why I'd prefer this extracted (2nd) method, over the first method (which simply uses the downloaded file). i install NetFramework with runonceex method, i works, at last i'll try this method tomorrow, it can be useful if we can save space. -
Gosh's Reducing Size of Source w/ SP2 & dotnetfx
r0sWell replied to r0sWell's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
good to know. i used nlite and slim down my unattended CD to 393Mb, or 615Mb /w softwares. i removed defragmenter (i use diskeeper 8.0) and system restore too, without any problem but i still have only one problem left. there are some directories in Program Files that cannot be removed : - microsoft frontpage, - msn gaming zone, - windows nt, - xerox. Deletion is refused, because they're already "in use by another application". But theses directories are empty, or contains sub-directories that are empty. i would want to delete them in my cleanup.cmd at the end of RunOnceEx. RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Program Files\Common Files" ->deleted RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Program Files\ComPlus Applications" ->deleted RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Program Files\microsoft frontpage" -> not deleted RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Program Files\msn gaming zone" ->not deleted RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Program Files\Services en ligne" ->deleted RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Program Files\windows nt" ->not deleted RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Program Files\xerox" ->not deleted thx in advance -
.net (netfx) install the way mce and tabletpc do
r0sWell replied to bilemke's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
thank you i'm installing my SP2 unattended CD just now to test again. i removed components using nlite, and i haven't reduced size of source for the moment. last time i test, XP installation stop at 37 minutes with no message, i think i removed one component that wouldn't supposed to be deleted strange because i re-install the same ISO and it passed the 37 minutes. anyway.....i think it will be good now -
