    Windows Updates

    done
  2. Yes, that's what I said I just have such a hint when using KB975254. I think such information and the end of the report was not bad. I think it's a good compromise between listing all current updates and taking care of possible problems. Oh, thx. I used InfoZip for an automatic release (cmd for zipping, making verson file, uploading, ...). Probably I took a wrong parameter for InfoZip... THX!!!Mimo ----EDIT---- I've forgotton to switch to binary-transfer for the ZIP-file. Shame on me... Fixed now!
  3. 2010-02-12 - Fixed: The order of updates in the list. The prevoius order made problems together with the download-script (updates are requested which are made obsolete by a later download). The result was you have to run the filecheker twice (the second time was to remove the obsolete updates). Now it's not needed to run the file-checker twice. - Added: INI-setting DOWNLOAD-SCRIPT where you can define a script for downloading missing updates. This script will be called with two parameters: %1 = name of the file %2 = destination-folder --- beta state --- - Added: New information for checking the Flash-Player 10.0.45.2 Currently I made the possibility to add a DL-script (or command) when a missing update was found. I use it but not for "real downloading". I have all updates on my harddisk ("real updates" are here, installation-programs (IE, WMP, ...) are there, drivers, hfslip-files...) and my download-script scannes my hard-disk for the required update and copies it to the HFSLIP-folder. With this I made my copy-script obsolete (the copy-script which I maintained since years to get my updates to the HFSLIP-folder). Now I have just manage the file-checker THX to Tomalak for the new flash-player!!! Mimo ---edit--- No probs with uploading anymore, upload is done!
  4. THX, that is what I have in mind with the list and the file-checker. Hey, I know about KB977377. And also in other Updates are hints like "use it only if you encounter these problems". And currently with MS10-015 many users have problems with it (BSOD), MS is knowing that and looking for the bug. But should I remove MS10-015? (I think more users have problems with MS10-015 than with KB977377) I don't want to ignore your concerns but the main goal of the file-checker and the list (hey, it's still in the update-list. why should I remove it only from the file-checker? ) is said in the top of this reply and should not changed. But I can give hint's like: I just have such a hint when using KB975254. I think such information and the end of the report was not bad.
  5. Regarding new INI-settings, the easiest way is to let hfslipfc create a new ini and see whats new. Regards, Mimo
  6. Hi Glowy, THX very much for reporting it!
  7. The file-cheker doesn't "want" it. The file-checker just report missing advisories when ADVISORIES=1 in the ini (which is default, otherwise set it to '0').But anyway. The file-checker cannot make it right for any user I think. The task of the filechecker is to list missing updates but not to force the user to use them. The user has to decide to ignore updates which are listed as missing or to add them. The filecheker will just help to be informed about the currently used updates in the HFSLIP-folders. You can add this update in the IGNORE-section in your INI so you will never see this again as missing update.
  8. Where is that update on your list? I don't see it anywhere. KB961451 and KB974905 are updates which you have to request by the MS support. For these kind of updates I will add a new category in the next rel. I have forgotton to notice that. Regarding: 977377: I think you d/l the version during my upload-process. I added 2010/02/09 w/o 977377 and some minutes later with 977377. Sorry. Plz d/l it manually again. I think I have to change my strategy for testing the update-process and making the final version.
  9. d/l it here:http://www.hfslip.org/hflists.html for questions about this please ask/search in the forum. I can't tell you something about that... (I'm not using it) edit: PS: but good hint anyway, I change my DL-link!!!
  10. Can anybody tell me something about KB979099? Regards, Mimo
  11. Can you attach the ini? THX, i'll check that!
  12. As you can see in my reply frm Jan 28 2010, 09:07 AM in this thread I really would like to implement it. But how to get all d/l-links in all languages on an easy way?As Martin said, if people can offer these links it wil be a great help. CU...
  13. Because of some new INI-settings the easiest way is to let hfslipfc create a new ini (if you don't want to use the new features you can use the old ini). Each new setting is well-documented enough inside of the INI (hopefully ).Regards, Mimo
  14. Yes, so everybody has it's own understanding about integrating updates in the installation-media (for me, e.g. WGA can be listed 1000x as high-priority but I would never integrate it). But to make it more clear and easier to understand I will modify the list and the file-checker by splitting the currently "Optional" updates to "Priority" and (really-) "Optional" and I confirm that this categorization can help others to decide wich non-security update shall be integrated.Thx for your suggestions
  15. Yes, "High-Priority" I wanted to say (in German the "high-priority" category is call "important" - of course the german word for "important"). So, as far I understand, I have to install a plain SP3 (w/o) any updates and see in which category the update is listed. OK... ---EDIT--- Oh, or I look into YOUR list
  16. Yes, "High-Priority" I wanted to say (in German the "high-priority" category is call "important" - of course the german word for "important"). So, as far I understand, I have to install a plain SP3 (w/o) any updates and see in which category the update is listed. OK...
  17. I confirm that it can be missunderstood... There are two ratings from MS. A security-update (MS..-...) has a severity (written in the bulletin article). This is listed in table two of the update-list.But when you visit Windows-Update or Microsoft-Update the updates are categorized only in "important" and "optional". Of course, the security-updates are in the "important"-section. But also non-security-updates. And other non-security-updates are "optional". And I don't know where it's written wich non-security-update is "important" and which non-security-update is "optional". I thought about that and to avoid missunderstandings I will remove the word "optional" from the list. But when someone can tell me for all non-security-updates if it's important or optional - I will list it.
  18. But Mimo, 951978 is NOT optional, should be reported if not present. Yes... it's a kind of naming. In my tables all updates which are not "security-updates" are "optional". I can change the name of the "OPT"-setting to "LIST-ALSO-NON-SECURITY-UPDATES" but it will have the same result. I know MS also have the "important" state (like WGA which is "very important", yes ). But I don't know which update is "important". PS: I have it ready to check for an update of hfslipfc and download it automatically (all can be configured in the INI)
  19. Have you setOPT=1in the INI? Reporting optional updates are not the default-setting. Regards, Mimo
  20. Hmm.. for me with IE8 it works. Which page do you see?My link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...de-b13d80877558 Parseus' link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en should be the same... PS: what's with the openDNS-test (the last PM to you?)
  21. Cool. I will add this ckecks. But I have no idea if it should be in HFSVCPACK or HFGUIRUNONCE. When you put it in HFGUIRUNONCE I will use this folder also in the list. It is possible when wget.exe is available. Then I can download the current list (with an INI-setting AUTOUPDATE=0/1).Actually the lists of updates are inside of hfslipfc.cmd but it's not a 'must be'. In the INI you can define a "FILESET". The fileset represents one or more lists containing the current updates. So hfslipfc should be prepared to be used also for W2K or Server 2003. The only thing is there are some hard-coded features inside of the file-checker for XP. Probably that can skip some things or so when not using XP. It's also possible to download the missing updates but the problem is: To get download-location for each file for each language. Too much work for me If I would have these lists I would integrate it. But I can start such kind of auto-update-feature to make experience with that! CU, Mimo
  22. Very good hint. Script is not JScript. I missunderstood that! 2010-01-27b - Fixed: KB951978 is NOT obsolete when IE8 is integrated
  23. Do you integrate IE8? No, I don't integrate IE8. THX for reporting this. It was a problem because this update is for IE6 and IE7. he filechecker doesn't support IE7 but try to report updates for IE7 as wrong. And because it's belonging also to IE7, it was reported as wrong. But fixed now. Fixed! 2010-01-27a - Fixed: WindowsXP-KB971961-JS57-x86-XYZ.EXE was reported as wrong when using IE6 - Added: when a wrong update was found, the corresponding component will be reported now
  24. Do you integrate IE8?2010-01-27 - Added: KB978506, Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility View List - Removed: KB975364, Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility View List, replaced by KB978506
  25. THX!2010-01-26a - Added: KB968006 (v2) only in Englisch available You're right! I will update the list.Thank you!!!
