  1. Hi mukke, thx for that. It's already a discussion in the update-thread. But I had thought about that how to integrate it in the file-checker and in the list and I have a solution in mind which is not online yet. see here (post #374) CU, Mimo
  2. 2010-01-14 - Fixed: Speeding up the process dramatically (now just a few seconds) - Removed: KB960225 (Schannel.dll 5.1.2600.5721) because it's replaced by KB968389 (Schannel.dll 5.1.2600.5834) - Added: Options to move unknown, wrong and/or obsolete Updates. For each type there is a INI-setting. The destination-folder can be defined also in then INI. Regarding the new INI-settings it's the easiest way to let hfslipfc create a new INI and see whats new. Mimo ---EDIT--- A small bug comes into this version. Plz use this download temporarily here (attachement). 2010-01-15 - Fixed: When creating a new INI the sections are now better sorted. - Fixed: When an unknown file was found, no filename was displayed (comes with 2010-01-14).

    Windows Updates

Normally the things are clear! But I'm thinking about how to write it in the table... Because an optional update replaces a security-update. And then the optional-update becomes a severity (like the optional MSXML-Updates KB973687 and KB973685 which are listed in table 2). I don't like it and I think I will turn it back so that optional updates stays in table 3! But obsolete updates shall be avoided. And for that I have two things in mind: 1. A hint in the table (when not using the file-checker) 2. An extra-check in the file-checker! That's the reason. It's not critical.. i think... plz gimme a little bit more time

@Kiki The file-cheker is not online with this modification. Otherwise the changelog will contains it CU & THX again for your tests...
  6. KB954067: Wmvcore.dll 11.0.5721.5250 and Wmvdecod.dll 11.0.5721.5250 KB973442: Wmvdecod.dll 11.0.5721.5268 KB954067 is not to be installed because the Wmvdecod.dll of KB973442 is newer and Wmvcore.dll is replaced by critical security update MS09-047/KB968816. KB973442 will be checked deeper later... But on the first view it seems it's worth to be listed. THX ---- EDIT ---- KB973442 was really a new update. I've added it to the list and also that KB954067 was replaced. Thx@Kiki

    On quick-view it seems to be true.KB960225: Schannel.dll 5.1.2600.5721 (only this) KB968389: Schannel.dll 5.1.2600.5834 (and much more) KB960803: Winhttp.dll 5.1.2600.5727 (only this) KB971737: Winhttp.dll 5.1.2600.5868 (only this) Updated list&file-checker is coming asap Mimo
  8. @Kiki&Martin OK, it was MBSA. Thx! Under 'High-priority' on WU there are Security-updates but also "other" updates (e.g. WGA). Security-updates has their own severity (written in the security bulletin) and not 'High-priority' in general. My list differentiate only security updates (Security-Bulletins and Security-Advisories) and other (optional) updates. I didn't want to classify the other updates (other than Security-Bulletins and Security-Advisories) because what is the meaning of 'High-priority'? What kind of priority? Of course to install WGA is in the sense of Microsoft but I cannot represent that classification! So everybody must decide what kind of non-security-updates shall be installed in her/his system.
  9. 2010-01-12 - Removed: KB968930 - Fixed: For KB968930 only a reduced language-set is available - Fixed: For KB973686 a reduced language-set is available (not only ENU) - Added: KB972270, MS10-001 Embedded OpenType Font Engine - Removed: KB961371, MS09-029 OpenType Font Engine - Added: Malicious Software Removal Tool 3.3 (windows-kb890830-v3.3.exe) to WIN - Removed: Malicious Software Removal Tool 3.2 (windows-kb890830-v3.2.exe) from WU - Fixed (again): KB971276-v3 back to ENU only (DL-page shows lang-selection but file stays in ENU) - Added: Information about obsolete/wrong updates - Fixed: A reduced language-set for KB973686 is available. Read? That takes too much work. roflBye, Mimo
  10. THX for clarification! @Kiki Why do you have it in HFSVCPACK_SW1? Mimo
  11. I'm asking me what the Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT) has to do with accessing Windows Update. Can anybody confirm that this is correct, that MSRT is needed for Windows online-updates? (I've no experience with MS-online-updates.) Otherwise I would change my list so that MSRT is listed as an optional update. Regards, Mimo
  12. Yes, it's a secret! You can also read the KB-Article what to do in the registry. It's just for convenience to offer a file to download.
  13. Hi, links are on my update-list (see signature). For WindowsXP-KB968389-x86.reg take this. Mimo

Tomalak has already upped this file here. I don't know where this link is gone here...
  15. I was sure that this DL was only in English. I've written a hint for that in the update-list. Could it be that at the beginning no localized versions are available for KB971276? But probably I've made a mistake. Thx for reporting this!!! That was the reason why I listed this update only as english, but I didn't remember why Thx!!!
  16. May way to consider this problem is that I will put the info in HFSLIP file-checker that KB968930 is not compatible with the current HFSLIP Regards, Mimo

    Windows Updates

I think when KB973686 contains a newer MSXML6 than KB973687, than it's worth to be listed!!! :-) THX again!
  19. hi Mim0! just something minor ... KB959772 has already been removed & replaced, right? table 9 shows: could be a little confusing since i compared other removed & added notes you have in other rows. should it now show as Removed instead?Yes, should be "removed" THX!!!

    Windows Updates

in Mimo's Windows XP Service Pack 3 update-list ... your thoughts Mim0? thanks! Hi Kiki,I didn't remember why I thought KB973686 was not to integrate. But I think, you're right, KB973686 is worth to be listed. Thx, Mimo
  21. I was sure that this DL was only in English. I've written a hint for that in the update-list. Could it be that at the beginning no localized versions are available for KB971276? But probably I've made a mistake. Thx for reporting this!!! Mimo
  22. You're right. In the Windows XP Update-List I removed already the second MuCatalogWebControl.cab but not in hfslipfc. Thx for reporting this! Isn't WindowsXP-KB952013-x86-ENU.exe the wrong download? There you can select brazilian portuguese and rename it after download. *confused*
  23. 2010-01-08 - Removed: KB959772 (wmp.dll 11.0.5721.5260) replaced by KB973540 (wmp.dll 11.0.5721.5268) - Added: Information about obsolete updates - Changed: KB976098 (Cumulative Time Zone Update) moved to HF
  24. Fine, so I don't have to change hfslipfc for that! You're the second one who told that. Thx! I will put this information in hfslipfc and in the update list.Regards, Mimo
  25. Hi Kiki, thanks to you for extreme-testing It has nothing to do with KB944043. I have no idea. I don't get this msg. I'm just calling getlang.cmd (which I create temporarely from hfslip.cmd) to get the language. When you start hfslipfc and see this:------------------------------------------ File-Checker (Build 2010/01/07) for HFSLIP See following site for further details: people.freenet.de/MisterMoster/hfslip.htm ------------------------------------------ HFSLIPFC will report missing, obsolete and unknown updates for Windows XP SP3. Start this from your HFSLIP-folder. Service Pack included in source: SP3 Language: ENU (EN-US) Selected components: Internet Explorer = IE8 Windows Media Player = WMP11 Remote Desktop Client = RDC7 Update-Sites: WU MU Folders to check: HF\*.*;HFGUIRUNONCE\*.*;HFCABS\*.* Update-lists: hfslipfc.cmd;hfslipfc.ini List missing optional updates: YES DirectX 9 already extracted: NO ------------------------------------------ (:-) 2009 Mimo ------------------------------------------ Then hfslipfc expects that SP3 is already included in SOURCE and SOURCE must not be updated to SP3 (doesn't matter where the info comes from, either from ini, either from source or from both). To install the SP3 (936929) is wrong then. And if WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe is found in HF it will be listed as wrong. It's correct and it's the expected behaviour of hfslipfc. Probably I have to wrote some more comments in the INI, e.g. that's only values has to set manually which are not default, but anyway, for hfslipfc it's important what it's shown at the start (at the first "press any key...").Thx again!!!
