    Windows Updates

No real problem. It's just that if I had followed the File Checker's advice and removed WindowsXP-KB969898-x86-ENU.exe and replaced it with KB973346 as suggested, when I ran File Checker again it would have then told me that, no, KB973346 is obsolete and it has been replaced by KB973525, as shown in Table 7 by this line - OK, understood! "replaced" is just an information. Not a necessary information but for me sometimes I'm interested for this information. "missing" is the only hint that an updated was expected in the HF-Sub-Folders. In which category belongs wmfdist95.exe? Optional Update for Windows XP SP3 in general (independend from the installed WMP which means it makes also sense when someone installs WMP11)? Or is this just an optional update for WMP9? (than I would add a new table for WMP9 to my list). Regards, Mimo

You're right, I've fogotten to remove the obsolete entries. KB969898 has to be removed from table 2. But I didn't understood what you found in table 7 Thx, Mimo
  4. A solution will come.Just a question: Why do you have it in extracted form? Regards, Mimo
  5. For KB961742-v3.exe (also for WindowsXP-KB968930-x86-ENG.exe in table 3) I don't know the folder and so it's not included in hfslipfc. kb890830 is now included. KB909520 - I don't know the folder. KB917275 is now included WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe is now included KB898461 is now included KB905474 is now included KB915865 - I don't know the folder. KB936929 fixed LegitCheckControl.cab included now MUAuth.cab included now muweb_site.cab included now wsusscn2.cab - for what do you want to include this??? wuweb_site.cab included now WindowsXP_KB968389_x86 solution has to come SmartCard_XP_x86.exe - I don't know the folder.
  6. As Kiki already explained the Windows/Microsoft Update-things are not included yet. This comes in the next release. I check it!Regards, Mimo

    Windows Updates

I will test it! Funny MS! They changed the name! hrhrhr... Or is this updated? I will put the new file to my list!!! THX for the hint When checking missing updates the FOLDERSET doesn't matter. I've forgotten to define the path of this RDC7-Update/Installer. The corrected HFSLIPFC is already upped. This is the update for RDC7. If you define to use RDC6, KB969084 should be reported as wrong update.
  9. I'm afraid I didn't understood. The task for HFSLIPFC is to report uncorrect updates. What kind of report do you have in mind? These are already tagges with (S) = Security Updates and (O) as optional updates. I don't know HFSLIP_PRE*.CMD. As far HFSLIPFC covers the updates of my update-list. For the case that you are using your own list (e.g. in a separate file - that's already possible) you can change the folders to check. This can be done in the HFSLIPFC.INI which is individual. But as default only these three folders are necessary.Thx, Mimo HFSLIPFC.INI The idea is that this ini will be keeped even for a new version of HFSLIPFC. You can select your main components here but also additional updates or ignoring updates (with a personal remark). Than the folderset may also be modified.

    New flash player

Why do you want to uninstall it?
  12. Actually it's the content of my Windows XP SP3 update-list Yes. Outdated files will be remarked as "obsolete" (if known as outdated) or as "unknown". It will be remarked as "unknown". Salute! Unknown-State and specialization of the update-list For me (if I get the "unknown" state for a file) it's was a hint to remove this file. But if someone use special updates which are not listet in my update-list, the unknown remark is not optimal (you have to check "unknown" files again manually which shall be avoided). Plz read the remarks of the ini-file, especially FILESET. Here you can extend the existing fileset. You can write your special updates as extension (to the integrated updatelist) in a separate file (e.g. the hfslipfc.ini) to add more information (about missing and/or obsolete files). But for this I will extend the (actually minimal) hfslip.txt to describe this. Regards, Mimo PS: The list of actually needed files is (of course) up to date. But the information about obsolete updates could contain more outdated files. This is a think what I will also extend but if someone has information about outdated updates (together with the information which updated replaced the outdated update), plz gimme the info!
  13. Introducing the file-checker (HFSLIPFC) for HFSLIP To make it more simple to be up-to-date with the updates for Windows XP SP3 I wrote a tool that you can run before running hfslip. It will report problems regarding the selected main-components (IE, WMP, RDC). It checks the contents of the subfolders of HFSLIP (HF, HFCABS, ...) and compares them with the actual update-list which is inside of HFSLIPFC. The results are: - missing updates for selected components - wrong updates (updates found for a non-selected component) - obsolete updates - unknown updates - ... An example of the output of the file-checker is here. It will be updated as soon as the update-list will be updated. Download: You can grab this tool from my Windows XP SP3 Update-List. (change-log, change-log update-list) I've splitted the file-checker. Now it's a main-batch and (in my case) an extension for Windows XP. In case that you use the file-checker still only for XP you will notice only an additional file. In case that you want to use it also for Windows 2000, you can download a 2K-extension from Parseus here. In case that you want to write a new extension, use this template here. Plz contact me because the OS-detection is in the main-script. Regards, Mimo

    Windows Updates

Hi Lilla, checking the last updates regarding MSXML I realized that SP4 for MSXML is available. See table 7, remark from 2009-11-26. But I had no time so far to figure out what is necessary to go to MSXML4 SP3. Thx for your work! Is this tested and checked against windows-update, especially in combination with KB954430? CU, Mimo

    Windows Updates

You're so right... Good link!@Lilla&Kiki Regarding UPHClean I'll update my list. I remove the "(necessary with SP3?)" and also I link to the actual beta. For me it seems that the 2beta is stable and fixes problems of 1.6d. But I list both because 2.0 is still beta. @Lilla Regarding the Reg-Tweak for IE8 I'm not sure if this is a thing for the update-list. Of course it's a good hint but I'm sure that are many more... E.g. I do many reg-entries after installing XP Hmmm.... Thx, Mimo

    Windows Updates

My results based on the HFSLIP-run from 2009-11-23 against windows-update (nothing else installed): It will not be listed. halfman's experience confirms it (THX). Will be listed!!! It will update MSXML4 from 4.20.9870.0 to 4.20.9876.0. Will not be listed of course but it will be important for someone with SP3. I make a note in my list. I put it in my list. Will be listed as missing updated. It will update:MSXML 3.0 SP10 from 8.100.1048.0 to 8.100.1050.0 MSXML 6.0 SP2 from 6.20.1099.0 to 6.20.1103.0 I read the KB-article again and it was a little bit confusion but at the moment I'm sure it's for XP Embedded!!! List will be updated!!! Regards, Mimo

    Windows Updates

New Updates: MSXML 6.0 Service Pack 2 (KB973686) Install this update to prevent applications from sending too many HTTP requests while a well-known Document Type Definition (DTD) is included. (in the description Windows XP SP2 is written, but often it's also for SP3 -> should we check it?) MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB973688) Install this update to prevent applications from sending too many HTTP requests while a well-known Document Type Definition (DTD) is included. MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 3 (KB973685) Install this update to prevent applications from sending too many HTTP requests while a well-known Document Type Definition (DTD) is included. Update for Root Certificates [November 2009] (KB931125) This item updates the list of root certificates on your computer to the list that is accepted by Microsoft as part of the Microsoft Root Certificate Program (the link in the artices goes to the old September version. For November version click here) Update for Windows XP (KB973687) Install this update to prevent applications from sending too many HTTP requests while a well-known Document Type Definition (DTD) is included. Security Update for Windows XP Service Pack 3 (KB972187) A security issue has been identified that could allow an authenticated remote attacker to compromise your system and gain control over it. (After quick reading I think it's only an update of MS08-076 regarding Windows Embedded. I'll check it) This is the unfiltered information from MS. More information regarding the use with HFSLIP is welcome. I will update the list asap. CU, Mimo

    Windows Updates

Before RDC7 is coming up I put Remote Desktop Connection 6.0 Client (KB925876) in the HF folder which seems to be correct (The client 6.0.6001 was installed with support for the remote desktop protocol 6.1). I didn't checked the integration of RDC7. I just looked at my installation and RDC7 (in HF) is not integrated. When HFSVCPACK_SW1 is working I will correct my list. Normally after a HFSLIP-run I install XP in a VM and got to the windows-update-site. For my last run (KB969084 in HF) it shows the missing KB956744. I think the reason is the incorrect integration of KB969084. - - - - - EDIT - - - - - I've testet it and I can confirm that HFSVCPACK_SW1 id the right folder. THX to gluon! With the correct integration of RDC7 the security update MS09-044 is not needed. I've updated the list!

    Windows Updates

WindowsXP-KB906569-v2-x86-ENU: It's for XP SP2. On my SP3-system w/o this update I have the "Tools-Tab". So I think it's included in SP3. WindowsXP-KB953979-x86-ENU is a fix to have a proper installation of SP3 while an antivirus-program is running which can avoid writing/deleting registry entries. With HFSLIP the SP3 is already included so you will never install SP3 while a AntiVirus is running. (plz don't mix "installation of SP3" with "slipstreaming SP3" ). WindowsXP-KB959252-v2-x86-ENU.exe is when MS08-061 is installed (Sec Upd for NET CLR). MS08-061 is not slipstreamed. What is correct. Should MS08-061 & WindowsXP-KB959252-v2-x86-ENU.exe be included in the table 2? EDIT: I mixed 08-061 with 09-061. gloun found the correct reason why MS08-061 is not to integrate. Mimo

    Windows Updates

New updates from MS: - Cumulative time zone update KB976098 And I don't need and use anything of them (tables 10&11!) I just took these info from formerly update lists. WGA notifications are listet as 'optional'. Should I remove WGA Notifications ? Should I write a warning??? Good idea. I think it will help other to decide to install it or not. THX to MH. Thx for the links. Are you having experience with cdimage 2.47? I use 2.52 since years w/o problems.Regards, Mimo PS: I will update the list this evening!
