'it' being what exactly? James x

I don't believe it is possible to remove USB support with nLite (yet), so go ahead and strip everything away. This is more or less what I am doing, and still enjoy the functionality of my USB mouse. Take care, James x

I believe this occurs when you utilise RyanVM's update pack as an add-on. My suggestion would be to create a Windows XP+SP2+RyanVM disc using the Siginet integrator, then nLite the source. Well, this is what I do atleast... Cheers, James x

...well, I'm still curious. Cheers, James x

Hello folks, Does anyone know of the particular components required by 'The Godfather' mp3 tagger. It would appear that I removed something that I shouldn't, and now this lovely piece of software does not open. http://users.otenet.gr/~jtcliper/tgf/ Any assistance would be most appreciated. Cheers, James x

May I ask which modifications you have made to your winlogon.exe ? Cheers, James x

I mentioned this previously, however I would like to see an option in nLite to remove .cat files after integration - e.g. I have integrated RyanVM into my XPsp2 source using Siginet's tool, but now wish for nLite to strip these files away when it works it's magic. Cheers, James x

I always remove most of the hardware, then re-integrate using driver backups. Here you go, take care, James x PCMCIA.7z

I doubt it is 16bit support, but this is worth knowing, thanks. It may help the chap with his iPod also. Take care, James x

Thank you for the information. Goodness, -35 degrees...that doesn't sound terribly pleasant! Regarding the UMS driver, I recall that my iAudio required a driver to be installed under Win9x. Cheers, James x

What sort of drivers come with your U2? Are you sure it isn't just the crappy JET Audio player software? You could perhaps try to open the driver installer (.exe file I assume) using 7zip and manually installing the .inf I am still clueless however, as I was sure the U2 is detected automatically by Windows as a removable drive (just like a flash key drive for example). On another note, what do you think of the player? I am considering a flash player, however given that 99% of my music is self-ripped ogg, I require something that supports the format. Perhaps the U3 would be a good purchase... Cheers, James x

Oh, you haven't even removed any components - very strange. In which case, it must be a hotfix issue - I assume you use RyanVM's update pack? Might I suggest you try integrating using Siginet's program rather than nLite. Furthermore, scanning through the hotfixes/knowledge base for possible changes that might affect USB devices. Good luck, James x EDIT: For example, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921411/

Have you integrated anything else, such as the Minilogon hack - I recall previous experiences where using Minilogon, I was unable to add new (USB) hardware. bledd, ah another iAudio fan - good stuff! Unfortunately, my M3 is inopperable these days, due to a worn connection between the main board and the io/volume board. Fortunately, I can still access the device as a drive to listen to my music collection in WinAMP. Cheers, James x

I use Portable Firefox / Thunderbird - http://www.portableapps.com - and no longer have to worry about backing-up profiles, I can simply copy the program folder somewhere and access the web/email from any PC. Cheers, James x
-
Does the U2 require a specific driver? My old iAudio M3 installs as a mass storage device, accessible through Windows explorer. I removed practically all the components, and currently I do not believe it is possible to prevent such devices from installing after using nLite. Take care, James x

Hello folks, I spotted this the other day in Akiba - a retail version of Windows XP SP2b http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/t...etc_xpsp2b.html It would appear to be an updated version with a few more security fixes. Perhaps not immediately nLite related, but never mind. Cheers, James

You need to give the full path to the dll, not just the filename eg: regsvr32 C:\windows\system32\slbcsp.dll Cheers, James x

Yep, blitzing the .CAT files also gets my vote (yappari!). Cheers, James x
-
Are you referring to the SFC disable patch in nLite itself, or a third-party tool? Thanks, James x
-
Yes, the folks at the RyanVM forum were rather quick to point out that removing .CAT files can cause problems. However, I was led to believe that disabling SFC functionality allowed one to remove these files safely. My request was for nuhi to implement a separate option to remove these .CAT files even when not integrating hotfixes / RyanVM update packs. Take care, James x

Hello chaps, A quick query. I remove 'Battery' from the hardware support list, then re-integrate my backed-up driver. Windows XP appears to install perfectly, yet upon first boot a popup appears requesting compbatt.sys, despite the fact that this file was integrated with the .inf driver. Adding compbatt.sys to the 'keep' box resolves the issue. Perhaps removing a driver simply to re-integrate a backup is a pointless exercise, yet, I am still curious as to why the compbatt.sys is not being installed correctly. Any suggestions? Thanks, take care, James x BATTERY.zip

I integrated RyanVM 2.07a using nLite v1.0, selecting the 'remove catalog files' option, yet upon completing the process I find that the SVCPACK folder still contains a large number of .CAT files. Am I missing something? Thanks, James x

Ensure that your soundcard drivers were installed correctly, and that any required codecs are also available. If you are still experiencing problems, try installing WMlite or ffdshow, configuring the audio options to decode WMA. Take care, James x
