  1. Something like: DEL "%AllUsersProfile%\Desktop\Mozilla Firefox.lnk" DEL "%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Mozilla Firefox.lnk" DEL "%AllUsersProfile%\Start Menu\Programs\Adobe Reader 7.0.lnk" DEL "%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu\Programs\Adobe Reader 7.0.lnk" DEL "%AllUsersProfile%\Desktop\Internet Explorer.lnk" DEL "%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Internet Explorer.lnk" in "cleanup.cmd" should do the trick for icons and shortcuts.
  2. No..... XP chooses the "best" drivers that match the hardware...
  3. We will have to wait until XP 64bit Service Pack 1 is out... less bugs I`ll wait until Photo Editing software for windows bumps to 64 bit.. (ie photoshop...)
  4. Hoi, I`ve searched and did not find anything on this. Has anyone been able to have their WINNT.SIF run with XP 64 bit ? Mine doesnt work... I used the one from my XP Pro CD, and changed the serial number... Has Microsoft changed the way unnatended installations work for these versions? Thanks
  5. Windows 2003 Server with service pack 2 ?
  6. Hoi, I`ve had the mouse for 1 month now, and my thoughts are: If you have a "big" rounded thumb, it might not be pleasant holding the mouse, as your thumb might touch the bump for the mouse controls. Secundo, when i play first person shooters, the mouse occasionaly moves up or down. This means that if your running staight forward, you will find yourself still running forwards with your head looking straight down. Experienced in Half-Life 2 and Unreal Tournament 99. Might be my desk, but I doubt it as is is wood and had NO problems with optical mice before (MX510, Logitech MX, MS scroll mouse, explorer mouse.) Thirdo, in Half-life 2, the primary (left) mouse button occasionaly gets "stuck", and the weapon fires in full auto mode. I havent been able to determine if the button actually sticks, or if it is a game problem. As for mouse speed, I have no complaints. You can play very quickly and probably wont notice any lag as earlier wireless mice. The lithium-ion battery last longer. I've played maybe 4-5 hours/day for 1 month and the battery meter LEDs were still 1/3 full. Charging time on the cradle is fast. ...but you have to try it see if you like the "feel". Hope this helps.
  7. It's normally NOT included in a "normal" Windows Installation, even with SP2. There's a thread in here about .NET silent install... I just dont remember where it is.. Cheers
  8. In reference to what??? What gaming applications do you want to use it with? Oh, i just noticed, that card you show is PCI... not AGP
  9. My best advice is for you to TRY all of the most recent blends. On my Dell laptop, the standard ATI Catalyst drivers wont install (proprietary Dell crap..), but the Omega drivers install without a snag... Install a driver series, then test them with a synthetic benchmark, then use the computer for a week, and if you experience graphical errors, bug and BSOD, well uninstall and try others. You can also judge with a "seat of the pants" feeling... highly unscientific or qualifiable, but it works BTW, if a newer version driver doesnt work with your system, dont be afraid to use an older version. That happened to me using the newer omega radeon drivers on my laptop, I had to use older ones.... Cheers
  10. Holy crap! how much do those units sell in lots of 1000 ???
  11. WinME still on the planet? I thought there had been an international ban on such software... lol The only time I installed ME (on a laptop), the desktop icons would change every time I would boot.... The My Computer icon switched to Recycle Bin, some MS-Dos icon, a tree,.... Thank gawd future versions of windows did NOT do that! Good luck with the service pack! @Gape: BTW, what version on windows are the files in your "i need" list from??
  12. Whoa, I hadn't seen that tab in Display Properties (yet)
  13. Who really needs 250mb of mail storage ??? (And for what?) Is there still a 2mb attachement limit?
  14. I thought the SP1 pack for MUI of Office 2003 wasnt available yet.... (From Microsoft site) To install when using an Office 2003 Multilingual User Interface Pack For complete Office 2003 SP1 functionality if you are using an Office 2003 Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI), you will need to install both of the following: * Office 2003 SP1 (this download) * Office 2003 SP1 for Office 2003 Multilingual User Interface Pack – available at a later date Microsoft
  15. i had problems with version 7 of msn messenger on my amd-64.... but it worked fine on a P3-m system.... ummmm
  16. Mine's been upgraded last week... A friend of mine had his 2 months ago... I heard that MS had first upgraded Australia, then the US + Canada, then others.... 250mb is a lot of space for emails....lol
  17. Try yo look for a program named cdimage.exe .... it can make it fit on one 700mb CD
  18. Thanks guys for the insights, I followed a couple of links posted in the thread and tried and tired... but somehow I cant get any windows in other computers to recognize it... even with a fresh copy installed... What I did was Powerquestdriveimaged the partition, for backup, re partitinoned my disk into 2 equal partitions and copied the files in dos... took a helluva long time, but it worked. Hopes this NEVER happens aggain to others or myself! cheers
  19. 'lo all I turned on my computer this morning at, unlike previous days, i lost a drive letter! Usually, I have a 10 Gig (NTFS) partition set up as C: for windows XP, and a D: partition, which is also NTFS, where I keep all the stuff I install and create. Well, this morning, no more D: drive.... when I open up disk management, it displays my D: partition as NTFS (Unknown) Healthy.... I searched on the net and in WinXP help, and the only thing I get is that I can delete this partition and reformat it! I have data on the so called disk!!! The only option I have now is to copy the whole partition to another disk.. The only way I can do this is via a DOS boot, and loading an NTFS loader.... 50 gigs is a LLLLOONNNGGG time to copy via DOS... Can or does anyone know how I can extract the data from the NTFS (Unknown) Partition in WinXP ??? Thanks BTW: it's 1 physical disk divided into 2 NTFS partitions....
  20. Besides the fact that using the same cdkey on different computers is ILLEGAL, unless you have a legitimate VLK, then yes it would be the same key as your initial installation. You WILL run up to problems when you reach the point of ACTIVATION on the other computers if the particular cdkey is already activated....
  21. And if you leave at least one of these unattended CDs in a *protected* place, it's more reliable that a hard drive. I used to keep an old 1.2 Gigger as a "backup" image... got tired of opening up the computer case and plugging it in, going into bios... etc.
