    Sp2 prompt

their maybe a reg tweak u could apply but sp2 is kinda new for alot of ppl 2 tinker in it, try the IE section in registry? Sorry, i cant really give a definitive answer, as i dont have sp2 installed yet, im waiting til sp2 gets 2 the full ... since im on dialup regards
  3. k, ill go from the top down... Explorer has a bug where it uses 100% Cpu usage , heres a fix Quote obtained from: http://tweakxp.com/display.aspx?id=841 Next, about explorer crashing, this could be a number of things.. have u got the most recent drivers for all your things? Motherboard (should be chipset & agp drivers) Video card Sound Card NIC (Network Interface Cards or Ethernet cards) and whatever else hardware u have after they are all updated, try scanning for viruses & spyware (for a virus scanner i use Nod32 & for spyware i use adaware & spybot then, once im sure im clean, i use spyware blaster 2 protect against further infections http://downloads.com should have those 3 files make sure your software is up2 date & patched, (including all windows updates) if u use firefox 0.8 i had some issues with that, try not using it or upgrading 2 0.9 (i havent used 0.9 yet) & 2 delete files from command line, do this DEL /Q path\filename.extension (quotes if there is spaces) Example: DEL /Q "C:\My Videos\filename.avi" u can replace drive letters with variables, but we wont get into that sfc /scannow doesnt work maybe because your XP cd isnt in the drive? also, navigate to c:\Windows\System32\Dllcache and make sure theres files there Note: By default DllCache is a hidden folder & wont be displayed, u need 2 goto folder options & enabled hidden & system files Also, goto control panel > system , click the error reporting button, then turn off error reporting but notify of critical errors Edit: I dont think this is caused by your operating system, i think its probly a process u have running in the background that maybe has memory leaks, so try the idea i had about updating all your applications & using windows update Hope this helps, post back with your progress
  4. what are u wanting 2 do? add a bunch of startup things? why not do it via registry? regards
  5. repartition=No setup will ask u =Yes i believe it looks for the larges partition on your hdd, so if C is ALWAYS bigger then another 1, it will always install to C HTH
  6. i think so, from what i hear , but i havent tried sp2 personally...
  7. look here: http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/hacked_files.htm theirs a link 2 the program + instructions on using it replace the uxtheme.dll file with the file your using, both are .dll's & work the same EDIT: thought i should add this, DONT replace the file on your cd, just substitute the file in the pic with yours, regards
  8. it could be something in your winnt.sif file, but your .cmd file isnt even processes yet, it goes AFTER the setup finishes, & b4 windows goes onto load explorer, if your winnt.sif file is ok, make sure theirs nothing on your HOST os thats taking up your ram, 3rd use vmware if it doesnt work as an alternative regards
  9. what worked for me was using modPE & then compressed it regards
  10. so remove it, edit the .dll with a program & remove the check box good luck
  11. also, 2 help free up some ram, make a "gaming" hardware profile, with almost all services turned off that can free up alot of space goto blackviper's site for services guide try some tweaks via reg But tweaks can only do so much , my amd 1600 plays Mohaa well, but i have a 64MB card & 512DDR so it makes up for the slower cpu a bit regards
  12. how much ram do u allow for your virtual machine? also, do u have the latest version of vmware? 4.5.2-8848 was just released 2 days ago, it may fix the prob EDIT: try it with a original disk & see, also make sure u didnt remove something critical using nLite its a great program, but u need 2 read a little bit & just dont go removing everything, he provides good descriptions on what the item does & what its used for good luck
  13. u can make XP use the silver theme by using a reg tweak (try regsnap & it'll work 2 record the reg changes made)
  14. autopartition=1 that means it does it auto 1 = yes it wont require anything (maybe i misunderstood what u said) regards
  15. DEL "%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\PrintMe Internet Printing"should be RD /S /Q "%allusersprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\PrintMe Internet Printing"Tip: %allusersprofile% is the same as %systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\All Users\ regards
  16. huh? i dont get what your asking if its what i think your asking, just make the other accounts admin 2, or just use a program like regsnap (see the link below) & set permissions manually & record the changes regards
  17. taskkill /f /IM taskname.exe i think (i use pskill)
  18. personally i would like a good tutorial on how 2 do it ive followed the instructions from a post & soon as it loads the new kernel & reboots the os (XP on vmware) never loads, i think its something in the boot.ini file, but as i said, ive followed the instructions BootScreen Post i followed: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=9878 regards
  19. it could be from a crappy cut & paste job lol, maybe instead of hitting ctrl + V u maybe hit ctrl + B and its a "bold" flag? regards
  20. there are probly other files the .msi needs, like maybe a Data1.cab or whatever it uses good luck
  21. its amazing what u can do if u read Quote from: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=9878 Also: http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/wfp.htm
  22. taskkill works, if its done correctly, like i said above, for basic "killing" of a process, i just prefer pskill, but taskkill is better for if u have multi windows open of the same name, like IE, u can kill only 1 process of IE (as alanoll states in another thread) regards
  23. its probly just maintenance, i cant say how long, but i wouldnt guess it would be longer then a few hrs regards
  24. dont download any multiboot disks & post about it lol regards
  25. sometimes topics posted in a particular forum (unattended forum/application switches) are there for a particular reason, cuz he wants 2 do an unattended install, so hes not having 2 double click any .exe its already setup for him thanks for advertising, BTW, its not something 2 be proud of regards
