  1. Hi, I assume this problem is security related in some way, but I'm intressted in what possible sp2 patch did this, or if there is any workaround: If I create a html file and within it I link to a txt file which i place on my local c:, I can then open the file when i execute the link from the html file when it is placed somewhere on my computer. If i on the other hand move the html file to a network resource and run it from there, I still see that the link points to "<a href="file://C:\test.txt">open test</a>" but nothing happends when i trigger it. Does anyone know any workaround or more in detail regarding this problem/issue/feature?
  2. Hi MacDay, and thx for your reply. The problem is that tihs appears for our sales team at the company, which are almost never inte office, and get the errors qwhen trying to remove folders offline. What i need is a solution which makes it possible to remove folders when you are offline. Can you verify if your solution is permanent, or if this has to be done frequently? Do you know why it happends, so it might be prevented in forehand? Thx
  3. Hello I have a problem with removing folders when working offline with a laptop. It is no problem to delete files but when you try to delete folders you will get a error message like this. The folder cannot be moved to the Recycle Bin because the My documents folder is offline. Do you want you permanently delete it? If you answer yes to the question you will get a new message like this. Cannot remove folder This operation is supported only when you are connected to the server. Client is XPSP1, Running in a AD 2003.
  4. Hi, I have seen this problem on some clients, but i have not been able to recreate it, or find a solution. The problem is that if I have 2 available languages for my keyboard, i.e English and German, and German as default, and I get a mail which is written in English, I paste the bodytext of the mail into word, which "recognizes" that the text is English, and switches keyboard layout automtically. Word 2003 is used, the client is XP, and it is objected in an AD. I suspect that there is a Group Policy which defines this "intelligence" as default, and I which to turn it off. Does anyone have a clue? I even think I have seen the Policy, but I might have dreamt it, and I cannot find it again. Thanks Skin
  5. It seemed that it was an error in a GPO which I missed, regarding to what groups the GPO should be applied. Instead of only laptops, it was applied to all clients. Sum: the security filtering was set to authenticated users, instead of the Groups which holds the laptop users. Strange mistake anyway, cause we have .vbs scripts which creates the groups and link the GPO's on each site, but I guess that's a totally other story. Thanks SkIN-oUT
  6. Thanks ePatrick for your input. I would assume that it is MS related in some way then, but I'll try to solve it temporarily with your tips, and send it as a case to MS later. I will update this post with any info that i receive.
  7. Do anyone know if there is a possibility to automatically approve a Macro which is executed in a specific .XLA file, for users in i.e a spcific group, without: 1. Lowering the Macro security from Medium to low 2. Paying some company (i.e VeriSign) to digitally sign the document Thanks
  8. Thanks for the tip Firefox, The problem is also, which i forgot to say and which I found out recently is, that the difference between laptops and desktops here, are handled through GPO's dependant on which OU the client belongs to. The laptops have the syncornization activated and the desktop has not, even though, there are SOME desktops recieving the syncronization icon, and some not. I also want to change the previous statement that the syncronization is executed for those dekstop which does not have the sync enabled. They are not syncronized, and they are acting as supposed. So to clarify, it is desktops which are not in the OU with the Syncronization GPO activated, which are still syncronized.
  9. I have a problem with in a network witn Windows Xp clients and Windows 2003 servers. Syncronization is enabled, but on some clients i see the syncronization icon for my documents on the desktop, and for some i don't. The behavious only differs like this. For those where i can see the syncronization icon, it also displays the information dialog when you logon that the syncronization is taking place. For those that don't have the sync icon, the files are still syncronized, but it doesn't display the information box about it during logoff. Any ideas?
  10. Thx for the tips Lolly, however, I've tried almost all of them already. After som further investigation, it seems that this onboard realtek soundcard is pure crap. I found an old Soundblaster live card at a friend, and tried that one, and it works perfect, so for all of you with onboard realtek soundcards, just ditch them..
  11. I have a problem when i play games (any games). The sound dissapears unregulary, and then comes back, and dissaperas again. I only seem to have the problem ingame, but when i listen to mp3, or play any other mediafiles, in pure windows, it works wihtout any problems. I suspected that directx could have anything to do with it, but i cannot find any errors with dxdiag. If anyone have any clue, please let me know. I do not think it is hardware related, as it works in windows mode without any problems. Thanks Soundcard: realtek AC'97 OS: WinXp Sp2 (but i had the same problem in sp1)
  12. Thanx Professor Frink, It worked splendid. ExtremeMAC, I don't understand how your post would help? But maybe you just wanna keep that post count increasing..
  13. This looks good enough for me. I'm reinstalling now.....I'll paste the result when it's done.
  14. Could someone paste an example of an $$Rename.txt and the location of it. I have tried sometimes, but I do not have VirtualPC/VMWare, so it takes me forever to reinstall a machine just to find out that it didn't work. Thanks.
  15. Does anyone know the reg key for switching the Dialup default behaviour to: "Never dial a connection"? (I import dialup connections, but I want to set the default connection to never dial a connection, afterwards.)
