when we spoke last night chris, it was obvious you had a trojan on your PC, now you may have allowed the trojan without realising as they get named s*** like wlindows32 etc, if you put that under default windows font the L looks just like an i... also, theres hundereds of trojans out there that norton etc will not pick up, i got one after we spoke infact, a patch for flight sim made to look like a zip ( hey like i said have folder options show extensions to files!!! one reason why.. ) it was an exe, iscanned it with AV and it came up clean, so i ran it like a prick, imediatley zonealarm asked if comdill.sys could access the internet... [NO] then i ran norton again.. no virus found, so i looked in the registry and sure enough it was in there, well what i could find of it, set to run on startup... so i looked in WINDOWS dir... system32... ahh theres this wierd file that popped up on Zonealarm, rename to comdill.TXT open it.... looks odd mention of dns2go in there.. hmmm... try wipe file, cant -- bastard! ive got rid of the file now, i took what i could find out of the registry and thought that it would be ok and was happy to leave it and see what happened, then i realised that when i was doing those reg hacks you pointed out to me ID BACKED UP MY REGISTRY!! as told in the steps!! woo hoo!! all should be kool then i hope.... ill go find a trojan scanner now... ive had a few before, ill post what i get up here and if its any good, il test it too with mo****ker and subseven et al see what it finds, hope you get sorted man. oh, and hope your isp gets you those people responsible, most people wouldnt think to call their isp after an attack like this!! good idea !! just shows how much attention they pay to your acount though huh? also, people leaching off you will turn up in those ip lists .. so just keep in mind me an rick and anyone else aint nowt to do with it!!

i installed xp for a friend on an older celleron pc.. and when he shuts down xp he gets that screen that most of us havent seen for years LOL ive fixed this problem before on win2k but cant remember how its done.. anyone know? Devils0wn on a partition ( D: )

i didnt mean using the built in burner, but for a lot of people if they try burn discs with an installed burner it can conflict and give under runs etc, im a lucky one too.. but i still turned the service off -- just incase

set it up, post the details in the ftp section and test it out , you should have an excellent ftp with T1!

yes it turns off XP's built in burning service, which sux anyway, as the service can affect burning discs with most software, nero, roxio. fireburner etc... it just means less coasters for your table LOL

hmm.. im into sharing and stuff as chris says, but not being a mug to a load of leaches and users on 56k who winge they cant upload when they bloody can, just dont upload big files .. having to do a ten minute upload cant be bad on 56k.. theyd spend 30 hours leaching given the chance, im on 56k at the mo, and ive been uploading stuff all night, ill think about it, as i get cable in .. 24hours

If you havent already go to START > RUN > msconfig now go to the services tab and untick the "Error reporting service"

if you havent already go to START > RUN > msconfig > now click the services tab and turn OFF (untick) IMAPI CD BURNING COM service.

the ip shouldnt affect it, it just means that you would have to give out the ip each time someone wanst to connect, id suggest to solve that you get a dns acount ht*p://dnstogo.com so that you can just give folks an address instead! as you have two IP numbers, it sugests to me you are on a network or behind a router, refer to amb's suggestions if thats the case. http://xp.modrica.com/forum/showthread.php...10&pagenumber=2

it should mean that the site wont have periods of being slow, eg, if its being attacked it wont affect it so much, or if xper is downloading etc, there should be plenty of bandwidth left for the sites on his server

for the easiest way to setup MSN, get a hotmail account, and logon to MSN with that email and password for that email acount, you dont have to use the email if you dont want, many people just do that to use for MSN, and use a different address as their real email addy.

Sounds good, theres a few features in XP ive still not tried out, but id not even heard of this one! and yes, a drive has to be formated and have at least one partition on it before you can use it, otherwise it just shows up in device manager and not in my computer

as posted earlier... you can get rid of that screen on bootup if you use one OS a lot and rarely use the others... go to start> my computer> properties > advanced > startup and recovery [settings] > now pick you fave OS from the drop down menu, and untick "time to display list of Operating systems" now when you reboot it will just boot your fave Os, if you want to use one of the others anytime just go back and re-tick the box to get the list back
