yes.. before i read your posts (forum has been dead, too busy i think) id traced it back to them via netstat and arin.... so weve rung up the ISP and tried to get hold of them too but all their phones are dead. did you check wnad.dat? i didnt get round to hex editing it so i havent found exactly what it does... but you obviously beat me to it, nice work mate, and about time you posted LOL welcome to the forums :beer

righto.. for the past few weeks ive been thinking this and finally myself and chris found out the answer last night... id recommend to anyone who has visited and downloaded from twistedhumor.com, go to c:WINDOWS and look for a file called wnad.exe and wnad.dat there may be other components too (obviously its in the registry too) this is a [b:2242809db2]TROJAN[/b:2242809db2] luckily i blocked it access to the net.. but on a few occasions my firewalls been down, it would explain why my ctrl alt del window is messed up and a few other things.. now i have to format again as theres enough damage done to warrant it. this is the same trojan that chris has had and how his pc was broken into before, norton will not repair the file, and cant wipe it, you might be able to shut it off in ctrl alt del > services menu or boot in safe mode and kill it. norton hasnt found it on my pc in any scans... it wasnt till chris asked me about it and i opened the WINDOWS directory that norton went off when i highlighted the file.. until that piint it didnt make a peep, got updates today and we both found this file.. anyone else?? tip: we all know that unbranded ram is crap, however on some systems it will run fine (ive found that pc100 ram even unbranded stuff is ok so long as the dimm is no bigger than 128mb) ive never used unbranded ram on my own system but the deals on ebuyer got too tempting, as i was ordering some ram for someone else i thought id give it a try, the pc100 128 works fine for the friend i bought it for and his pc loads XP much much faster now. i got 256mb pc133 and my pc is slower than his celeron with it in... definately going back to ebuyer!! cheap yes... but not much point putting ram in if it does the opposite of what its supposed to dammit :mad: with the decent stuff in XP boots up, as administrator, in under 60seconds and loads the admin account when i log in in under 20 ... whats the big deal?!? it would take win98 3minutes LOL also.. i still sometimes get zonealarm locking access to the net.. much rarer now though, sometimes you can log out and log in again and it loads ok second time, when the welcome screen loads after booting the pc if you wait a moment the pc will load more stuff from your HDD and (on my system anyway) the floppy drive is checked. [b:2f1278a98c]THEN[/b:2f1278a98c] its safe to login. bit of an extra wait but hey.. who turns their computer off anyway since they got xp? lol this thing is only rebooted if it needs to be for an install, or once a week it gets shut off for a short rest.

if you live in the UK get a copy of computer active its got install guides in it for clean install from DOS or like chris told u how to do it. i was going to scan it but i cant as ive no power pack for my scanner as the other one burned out

do your copies of XP work? scan the disc with clony and see if it has read errors on it.... i think XP has a built in feature that stops you copying your CD. ive made ONE that works but its still got errors on the disc at 99% but it installs fine etc no problems using the disc

you probably have an undetected trojan on your pc, theres a LOT that norton and many trojan scanners wont find, the keyloggers are being uploaded by the person operating the trojan, try run [b:f61e7143f5]netstat -a[/b:f61e7143f5] from the cmd prompt sometime and tracert the ip numbers you are connected to, the trojan is probably in one of the applications you use a lot and so is re-infecting you when you format... this is the same set of keyloggers you got before the format isnt it? failing that.... as its showing up a non exsistent dir maybe its just cleaner being funny on XP? does it show them up everytime you run it? run it, delete the loggers and run it again.. they still there? (do that with your modem turned off!)

F2S do MYSQL and PHP and ive installed php nuke on a few sites there, be warned.. if your sites starts getting a lot of traffic F2S databases become unreliable and you will have to find a pay host theres plenty that do good deals with php and 4 or more databases. ht*p://www.f2s.com check out http://www.xperties4xp.f2s.com thats Xperties's site running php nuke on f2s

i get this appearing if i try make an iso of an XP cd.. it appears next to the iso file or .nrg file or cue sheet... what programs have you got installed? its not a virus.. its windows generated

i used latest version, i only got it back again the day i posted that message and yes.. its full of mp3 files ripped off the radio and the servers are always down. Morpheus is excellent for mp3 and music vids. BE WARNED withing 30 minutes of using it i got a virus, but norton killed it strait off.. always have your anti virus prog running and scann all downloads.. watch out for mp3 files with artist set as "unknown" these are viruses 90% of the time. Morpheous and kazza are the same thing! ( look at the part finnished downloads, they are called "kazzafile854858.bat" etc. im sure they use the same servers even.. though ive not checked and dont have kazza on the pc anymore. check it out wor... its miles beter oh.. and if your on DSL or cable you usually get mp3 in under 4 minutes, compared to 10 - 15 on audio galaxy

its not the hack thats caused this problem.. it WAS just a coincidence as i put everything back as it should be!! i wanted a black start button but realised it wouldnt be possible with this hack so i stopped doing it and put everything back.. i think its caused by something else on my system that ive installed or wiped off by mistake, ill run repair tool later and see if that fixes it.. if not its no biggie until the next format

ah.. on the actual computer that wouldnt shut down the APM tick box is present in control panel > power options it isnt on my pc! phew.. cheers folks it did the trick and all is well .. caused no knock on problems
