  1. mniceguy81, I have no idea what you changed and no idea what the effect would be to change it to nothing. I see no ComputerType in your winnt nor mine. Do you mean Unattend.txt or some other file? Why not use nLite? If you will answer the questions in my first reply, perhaps we can make some progress. Is it totally impossible to try under XP x64, perhaps under a VM system? If nothing else, run nLite again and strip out all your Update Packs and AddOns. Enjoy, John.
  2. I have noticed that the following values are set in my Registry [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl] after installing an nLited ISO. I have selected none of these Tweaks to be disabled and wonder how they got this way. Are these the defaults? Is XP the same way? The file nLite.inf contains the commands to set the values as shown. Thanks, for your comments. Enjoy, John. "AutoReboot"=dword:00000000 "CrashDumpEnabled"=dword:00000000 "LogEvent"=dword:00000000 "SendAlert"=dword:00000000
  3. rebrov, if that is your complete Registry file, it is not complete - needs a line at the top for example. Please attach your .reg file or paste its entire content in a code tag. What do you mean by IE7 Properties? Please post a screen shot. And, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  4. haq59k, glad you found the problem. You can't just change the name to DL_. A name with this type of extension is a compressed version of the original file. In a command prompt, use the makecab command to create these files. Enjoy, John.
  5. mniceguy81, OK, but please go ahead and try with Computer Type set to Automatic (unless you do have an MP). I will look at your postings after lunch. In general, I would prefer that this type of data be attached, not pasted - much easier to search. Enjoy, John.
  6. Wow, mniceguy81, what a mess. First, do your really have more than on processor module on your MB? Multicore is not multiprocessor. I recommend you use Computer Type = Automatic. But the main problem may well be that you are running nLite under Vista to create an XP ISO. Is it 32 or 64 bit Vista? Did your x64 CD come with SP2 or did you integrate it? If so, how? It would probably be better if you started a new thread for your problem. You need to remove the Tweak "Explorer-Launch folder windows in a separate process". This exposes a Windows bug, but has nothing to do with your problems. In closing, please make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Thanks for the Last Session - makes it easier. Enjoy, John.
  7. seniDEac, there is a forum above, Application Add-Ons. Take a look at it. Also there is Windows Post-Install (WPI) forum. Both are used to install programs. Enjoy, John.
  8. BhaGwaN, using multiple steps and possibly multiple programs is going to lead to grief. What is the BSOD error? And, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. You should probably start a new topic with a title describing your specific problem. Enjoy, John.
  9. haq59k, again, how did you integrate SP3? Also, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  10. Raystr, first, please edit your first post and change the title to something that reflects your problem - not just a plea for help. Please see the forum rules at the top of the page. How did you make your ISO? In the last task of nLite, you can build an ISO and burn it to a CD/DVD. It sounds like you simply do not have a bootable CD. I suspect you are using some tools after running nLite and don't have the proper boot sector. The default ISO name created by nLite is WinLite.iso. It should not be an RAR archive. Please let us know when you have a solution. Enjoy, John.
  11. sam1984, I am curious why you would want to change the key. Is the copy of Windows and the key valid and legal? The key is in the winnt.sif file. If you have an ISO, then extract it (I use 7-Zip) and change the key, then rebuild an ISO. You must have a legal copy of Windows and key first. Enjoy, John.
  12. avechuche, I agree with what you are saying. I use nLite to load my text mode drivers and leave OEM Preinstall to Enabled (default in nLite). To get a direct answer to your question, you will need to wait for mritter or Kels to respond. Sorry I could not help. Enjoy, John.
  13. TwistedMexi, if you have not closed WPI, try specifying another file to store your config data. Are you sure you were not running from CD (can't write)? Is it possible another process was using the config.js file? Perhaps you had it open in notepad? A free program called Process Explorer will tell you if a file (Handle) is held by a process. Enjoy, John.
  14. avechuche, your English is fine. I do not understand why you cannot use F6 and therefore you cannot use $OEM$. Are you using nLite to create your ISO? You can use the $OEM$ folder unless you disable OEM Preinstall. If you really have an nLite question, please open a thread in the nLite forum and attach (not paste) your Last Session. Enjoy, John.
  15. haq59k, I see nothing obvious. You say SP3 was previously integrated. How was it integrated? Did the CD come from MS with SP3? If not, are there any other modifications made to the source? Did you do all your nLite work in one run and follow the other advice in my first reply? Enjoy, John. Kurt_Aust, I am running VMware Server 2.0.0 and my AutoRun is 1 but my AutoRunAlwaysDisable includes my CDROM. When I insert a CD, it does not auto run, but the icon does change.
  16. haq59k, instead of pasting piece meal, please delete all the pasted stuff and, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  17. LePousson, the larger question is what happened to your shutdown.exe? Have you modified your Windows source? Using nLite? If so, please post in the nLite forum, above, and attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. If you will search your source, you should find a SHUTDOWN.EX_ (compressed version of shutdown.exe). If it is not on your install CD, search you original Windows CD. If it is not there, you have a bum copy of Windows. Please let us know what you learn. Enjoy, John. EDIT: I always use the 64 bit version of mshta.exe. When I first used the restart feature, I had script errors and the cure was to use the 64 bit mshta.exe.
  18. meowing, in one of the earlier threads, I think I suggested asking nVidia to correct the problem. Have you opened a support request with them? Enjoy, John.
  19. LePousson, attached is the shutdown.exe from my XP x64 system. If this does not correct your problem, please let us know. Enjoy, John. EDIT:My shutdown.exe file came from my System32 folder and is the only one on my machine.
  20. meowing, I did a search here on 185.85 and got a number of hits. Please take a look. There may be some help for you. Please let us know. Enjoy, John.
  21. Breezy, yours is the first I have heard of IDE to SATA problem. Since I am unknowledgeable of Ghosting, I am at a loss to suggest anything. Fernando 1 is the driver expert around here and hopefully he will comment. You might consider PMing him if you don't hear or have success soon. Good luck, John.
  22. Hubird, thanks for the link - very helpful. This is clearly an Intel problem. I could find no XP drivers at all. The files are labeled correctly, but when I specify XP Pro for the OS, I do not get XP drivers, just W2000 and W2003. I would suggest you look at Fernando 1's sticky above about Intel drivers and/or use Google to try to find real Intel Drivers. Enjoy, John.
  23. Breezy, sorry, I know nothing about GHOST and am not a Norton fan. I have also not heard about needing to remove your AV. Try Safe Mode (F8 during boot). If it works, you can go to Add/Remove and remove AVG. Please let us know, and for your info, you can EDIT your post and add stuff to it. Enjoy, john.
  24. Breezy, there is a long discussion about what 'Repair' means. If you are interested, then do a search on it here. What you got is the Recovery Console, so that you could "repair" your Windows. You did not get the Repair Reinstall. Which you may get when you skip the first one. What you got is normal. Please let us know what you learn. You did not answer my last reply. Enjoy, John.
  25. outcastc, please see this. Hope it helps. Enjoy, John.
