  1. cgimana, I agree with gamehead200 on SP2/SP3 keys. If you ran under Vista to create an ISO for XP, that is probably your problem. Another possibility is that MS apparently put some more checking for invalid keys into SP3. When we see your attached Last Session, perhaps we can comment further. Adding 77 MB of drivers should not have caused a problem. Enjoy, John.
  2. sam1984, the problem with text mode drivers (not normal drivers) there is no checking for exact hardware. The last text mode driver to be found for a device type (not exact device) is the one that gets used. So when you put a zillion text mode drivers for your SATA, only the last one gets used even if it is not for your particular SATA controller. Please do as g-force and -X- and instructed and use only the text mode driver(s) you need for your HW. Enjoy, John.

    hi all

andreascocos, after you change the title (as requested multiple times - edit your first post) and remove your pasted stuff, we can start a discussion of your problem. Using some other program with nLite is most likely not going to work and , please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  4. Tralbry, you say you start with a Last Session, then add or remove an AddOn. What source do you use? If you are not using a fresh copy of your original CD, then you have a big mess. In general, because nLite does slipstream most hot fixes (some are run via SVCPACK), you can add (for example) 100 MB of hot fixes, and the ISO may grow by only 10 or 20 MB. That is because the code replaced by the hot fix is deleted. Here is my standard advice, hope I am not too repetitive: Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  5. dreddric, good question, I wondered the same thing. I have now done some investigation and the value is in the WINNT.SIF file. I could find no lower limit, so I suggest your give it a try and let us know what you learn. By give it a try, edit (I use notepad) the WINNT.SIF file after nLite completes the build but before you create an ISO and change the value to a two digit number. My current value is MaximumDataStorePercentOfDisk=10. I will try it myself on my next nLite run. The Registry key is HKEY_LM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\SystemRestore\DiskPercent, so you can experiment here if you like. I also found no upper limit, so experiment if you like. Enjoy, John. EDIT: I did some testing on my VM and the MaximumDataStorePercentOfDisk is the maximum that the System Restore Settings will allow. It was also the size (10%) when I first looked. I set MaximumDataStorePercentOfDisk to 99%, but was not allowed to set the actual value very high at all. It just went back to 3%, which seems to be the minimum.
  6. Have you guys trying to change the PIDGEN.DLL tried disabling SFC (System File check, aka WFP, Windows File Protection)? There is an option in nLite to disable it. Also are you using the correct version of PIDGEN.DLL? There are two, one in the ip directory and one in the ic. Please see chris.b's post above. Enjoy, John.
  7. After noon today, I have been logged off multiple times. In some cases, clearing my cookies was enough but the last time required me to also clear the IE8 cache to be able to log back in. Thanks, John.
  8. jukkan, seems simple to me. Use nLite or not. It is certainly not going to be changed to do 'nothing' by default, just for you. I gave you a straight forward procedure to include the SP (Straight MS) and suggest you look in the Guide to include the drivers. Then you get no extra stuff. I suspected you wanted no extra stuff from your first post. Have fun, John. EDIT: Site Map of Unattended Guide - see Drivers.
  9. jukkan, beats is correct about the nLite option, but if you only want to slipstream the SP, then you can do that with the SP itself. Open a Command Prompt and run the SP with the /? switch. You will see all the valid switches. Then use the /integrate:<full path> switch to slip the SP into your source file. MS has an article on slipstreaming SPs and updates. I think you can put drivers in using the Unattended Guide above. Enjoy, John.
  10. kentonator, did you see the attached images? So, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.

fredo45, please do us all a favor, edit your first post and change the title to something meaningful. Also please read the forum rules about titles. I will amplify on g-force's signature: Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  12. sam1984, we need to see your Last Session. You have a text mode driver problem. How are you adding the text mode (mass storage, F6) drivers and where are you getting them for the Intel? So, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  13. Major A Payne, please post a screen shot of your source folder after you run nLite. In reality, these two files are not needed to boot the CD, only auto start and run an installation from it on an already running OS. My ISO contains these two files and does auto Start. Also, please tell us how you are burning your CD. You might also consider a virtual system (VMware Server, VirtualPC and VirtualBox - all free) for testing - no more CD coasters. In closing, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  14. LiteR, glad you are moving forward. Please post back with you results either way. Thanks, John.
  15. celticpride, I think we are in a hazy area here. The nLite license agreement only allows personal use and not business or commercial use. Please read the agreement and see what you think. Here are some of my thoughts on your dilemma. First, check out this thread. Perhaps some good information on slimming down in your environment. Starting from a copy of Windows that has been altered by nLite or another program is very problematic. It will very likely lead to grief. At the top of the page is a link to the Unattended Guide. A good place to start if you cannot use nLite. Enjoy, John.
  16. Tibibs, not a stupid question. In general, purchased computers come with an OEM key and license. If you will read the EULA (End User License Agreement- do a Help and Support on EULA), you will see that you can install the copy of Windows on only one machine. This means one not one at a time as a retail license will allow. So, what this is saying, I think, is you can use your copy on Windows (CD) and the associated key on only the computer they came with. Hope this helps, but please read the EULA. Enjoy, John.
  17. skierpage, first I would suggest you need to calm down and remember the environment you are in here. NLite is a FREE program offered as is. The support system is us humble volunteers and these forums. I think some searching will yield the conclusion that running nLite under Vista (or W7) will probably work if you do not slipstream an SP. Vista is fairly new and experience has developed about what OS you can use to run it for building an ISO. Documentation for free programs is notoriously, shall we say, not the most complete and since nuhi (owner/author) has taken a hiatus from nLite, it may be some time before changes of any kind are implemented. There are three main virtual system available that people here use plus probably many more. VMware Server, VirtualPC and VirtualBox are all free. I use the first, but it is huge compared to the other two. You need to consider the host you are running and the OS you will want to run in the VM. Google is your great partner here. Enjoy, John.
  18. LiteR, have you tried starting the services? The reason I suggested this is because you can do it without building a new ISO and installing. Please let know what you find. Enjoy, John.
  19. bjblackmore, a search here will find a number of threads about including .NET. You may be able to run netfxAIO.exe from the RunOnce exit in the Unattended Task of nLite. I simply run the MS installer and its updates from a batch file run from RunOnce. I think there are also AddOns for .NET - again search and see the thread at the top in the nLite forum. Enjoy, John.
  20. LiteR, I would suggest you start by going into Computer Management - Services and start all the services you have disabled and see if that helps. Of the things you have removed, I would think that Internet Explorer is the most likely candidate and perhaps Error Reporting (seems unlikely). You are also building an XP ISO under W7 and this may well not work, although some says it does. I think you will need to run some experiments and I hope you have a virtual system available for testing. VMware server, VirtualPC and VirtualPC are all free. Enjoy, John.
  21. beats, I suspect that MS does not 'fix' many things that respond just fine to the simple: Don't do it! Enjoy, John.
  22. bviktor, I see a point in seeing your Last Session. That is why I asked for it. It should be located in the nLite\Presets folder in your Program Files folder and will contain a date code. As I asked before, ATTACH, not paste your Last Session and Winnt.ini. Use the Browse... and UPLOAD buttons. Please also look at my response to your post on the thread about CD keys. Thanks and enjoy, John.
  23. Chosen1985, one of the very useful features of nLite is to install text mode drivers, so you do not have to use a floppy disk during XP install. Do you even have a floppy drive? If not, you do need something like nLite to install them for you or you will get an 07B (!) error. One of the bad things about recent machines is that they come with Vista and there are no XP drivers available. Armed with your machine maker and model, go to the manufacturer's web site and look for driver downloads and see if they offer XP drivers. If not you may be in deep, shall we say trouble. If you can find out about your hardware, you may be able to find drivers via searching the Internet. You can use two free programs to possibly learn about your HW. CPU-Z and GPU-Z (search Google) may be able to tell you enough to find drivers. You will need text mode (also called mass storage or F6) drivers for your SATA attached HDDs (and RAID, if using) as well as normal drivers for your other HW. Good luck, John.
  24. bviktor, in this forum, you can nowhere without a valid key. Please see the forum rules at the top. The forum does not allow discussion of hacked Windows and using boot legged keys. Enjoy, John.
  25. bviktor, I have no such problem. Please attach (not paste) your entire winnt.sif (BE SURE to obscure your private data, like key and PWs) and, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
