  1. outcastc, if you are using nLite, just point to the .inf files for the drivers you want to install. If not, see the Unattended Guide at the top of this page. Enjoy, John.
  2. Breezy, you must choose Prompt Repair in Unattended Mode to use the Repair option. If one of your previous tries started at all into install, then your old installed Windows is gone and Repair will not work, I suspect. I would like to see a link to the manufacturer's site for the computer (main board, if home build) driver download. Is your SATA drive set to AHCI mode in the BIOS? Enjoy, John.
  3. Breezy, gotta run, but please post the link to your text mode drivers and try ComputerType = Automatic. Catch you later this evening. Enjoy, John.
  4. How did you do this? This certainly looks like multiple running of something and if it is not nLite, then I would expect the results to be even worse. Booogy's WMP11 Slipstreamer is integrated into nLite for several versions now. You do need to have it installed on your system, but then just add the WMP11 installer and updates in the nLite Hot Fix section. If you really want to run WMP11 separately (to use some of its functions), then you must do it first, before you run nLite. Enjoy, John.
  5. Zoom7000, it sounds like you are running nLite more than once against the same source. This is not your problem, but you need to remove the Tweak "Explorer-Launch folder windows in a separate process." This exposes a Windows bug. So, please make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  6. Breezy, did you see any error messages? You see nothing of the GUI mode? Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  7. Kurt_Aust, guess I got the wrong update from Windows DL Center. I am not mixing techniques. It was always my intent to use only 5eraph's AddOn and nLite Hot Fix section - no IE8 updates in my RUN1. I did not know about the replacements. Thanks much, John.
  8. Kurt_Aust, thanks for your reply. I may have a mess - my list is a little different. I have 5eraph's IE8 AddOn at the top and these updates at the bottom. The KB972260 does not have IE8 in the name - perhaps you added it. I have KB969897 and you don't, but you show it in your RUNx on page 1 of your guide. I have no IE8 updates in my RUN1. You have KB972636 and I do not. Maybe you have really started on the August update and I have just added KB972260. What a mess. I think I will just wait till you release the August update and get in sync with you. I assume that I should have no IE8 updates in my RUN1? Concerning 5eraph, I did PM him as I said a few posts ago, and got no response. This is one reason I stay away from AddOns and Update Packs. You never know when the owner will disappear. With your method and your explanation of how you do it, if you are absent when I need changes, I can do it myself. Thanks for all your efforts in this. Enjoy, John. 9. GameKyuubi, I think this means you have .NET problems. I suggest you try removing and reinstalling .NET 2.0 or higher. Make sure you have the latest version of nLite (1.4.9.1) and you DLed it from the nLite site. If not, remove nLite also and install the one from nLite.com. Let us know the results. Enjoy, John.
  10. Kurt_Aust, I just did an install including the latest IE8 security update, KB972260 in the nLite Hot Fix section. WUD says I need to install the update, but QFECheck says I have the update installed. I guess this means that it does not integrate properly with nLite? On a different subject: I tried setting the System Restore disk size (MaximumDataStorePercentOfDisk = 10) to 10% and after the install it is 12% (the default). Have you every tried this and got it to work? Thanks, John.
  11. skippycostin, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  12. meowing, for several versions of nLite now, booogy's WMP11 Slipstreamer has been integrated into nLite. You must have WMP11 Slipstreamer installed on your system, then simply place the WMP11 installer followed by all its updates into the Hot Fix task of nLite. Stopping and starting nLite is not recommended. Run it only once and do all your your work then. Enjoy, John.
  13. JazzyisAFK, lots of information in these forums and on the nLite web site on this subject. Please do some searching. Basically you extract and point nLite to the appropriate .inf files(s). Enjoy, John.
  14. joshuatm, you certainly can nLite a copy of Windows for your brother's or a friend's personal use. Ponch and I are just saying that the copy of Windows must be legitimate and not nLited before. Lots of people come here with problems that result from running nLite more than once on the same source folder. So, if your brother or some friend of his has run nLite on the copy of Windows, it is not a good candidate for your project. In this case you need to find the original CD containing the original, unaltered copy of Windows. Enjoy, John.
  15. joshuatm, the question is: Where did you get the CD? You can buy CDs with SP3. You can open the CD with Windows Explorer and see if there are Last Session files there. If so, definitely has been nLited. If not, still maybe, since you can select an option to not save the Last Session. Do a search on the CD for *nLite* and see if you find any files with nLite in them. Post a screen shot of your Windows Explorer view of your CD. Enjoy, John.
  16. I think if you will read my reply above your questions will be mostly answered. One of the main reasons for using nLite is to eliminate the F6/floppy method. Also, above in the Sticky section are two threads by Fernando 1 (local expert on text mode drivers) about AHCI drivers. Please read the appropriate one(s). Enjoy, John.
  17. F1refly, did you read my last reply??????????????? Go into Safe Mode, then logoff. Hopefully, when to get to the Logon screen, the Administrator account will be there. I don't think you can remove the Administrator account, and I don't know what the default is for sure, but I suspect the PW is blank. If you can logon as Administrator (in Safe Mode), you should be able to change the F1refly account. Please try it and let us hear. Also read my previous reply for another option. Enjoy, John.
  18. joshuatm, I did fail to answer your unattended question, but Knowtwo is correct, you can use the Unattended task of nLite and not do an unattended install. Just select the options you desire including themes. The bigger question you raise is whether your source had SP3 added by nLite. You do not want to start with a source that has had nLite run against it before. But, a far larger question is the legitimacy of the copy of Windows. You should use only a legal copy of Windows with a legal and valid key. The CD (or recovery media) that comes with your PC will be legal. Or, you can purchase a copy of Windows XP. MS has a license agreement (EULA) that dictates the use of their SW. Please use Help and Support to find and read the EULA. I suggest you, for sure, never DL and use a copy of Windows. It will be illegal and may well contain viruses and no telling what. As a final problem with non-normal copies of Windows, they are considered warez and MSFN forum rules prevent us from discussing warez. Please use the Forum Rules link, above, to read the rules. In closing, this (if you have problems): Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  19. joshuatm, not installing drivers will only reduce space on the CD and HDD. It will not increase performance. Windows only installs drivers when it detects the hardware that requires them. Removing or disabling (a safer thing to do) services, will improve performance. Please see the Black Viper site. I think most pieces of HW, including flash drives require drivers. Windows has a version (if you don't remove them) for most types of HW. If you were to remove all drivers, I suspect you will have a CD that cannot be used to install Windows. I would suggest you remove drivers (and any components) that you KNOW you will NEVER need. Once removed you should consider them gone, very difficult or impossible to get back without a reinstall. There are a number of threads on the ASUS eee - please search. Enjoy, John.
  20. I am really not sure what kind of problems you guys are having and what kind of solution you are looking for. In order to install XP on an AHCI SATA drive, you need to have AHCI SATA text mode drivers and have AHCI enabled in the BIOS. NLite can install the drivers for you or you can use F6 and a floppy at the start of Setup. If you use F6 then you must disable OEM Preinstall in the nLite Unattended Task. The text mode drivers must be for the OS you are installing and are distinguished by having a textsetup.oem file. I suspect some are for XP and 2000 but some may only be one or the other. Normal mode drivers can also be installed by nLite or after Windows install by executing the driver installer. These drivers are usually part of the chip set drivers and again are for the OS (XP or 2000) you are installing. SATA support for optical drives seems to be different than HDD and whether you can boot from a SATA attached Optical drive seems to be dependent on the make/model. Enjoy, John.
  21. F1refly, thanks for the Last Session and please let us know if your problem is resolved. I think GrofLuigi is correct in using Safe Mode (F8 during boot). Just do a logoff and you should see the Administrator account on the logon screen. If that does not work, DL a program called TweakUI. Install it and activate the option to show the Administrator on the Logon screen. Please let us know what you learn. Enjoy, John.
  22. F1refly, if you will attach your Last Session, we will try to help you. Enjoy, John.
  23. romulopinho, great, glad you are running? Thanks for reporting. Have fun, John.
  24. F1refly, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  25. Phenomic, I have not done this yet (next build), but I think it is enabled in your BIOS. Typically you hit the Delete key early when booting. Enjoy, John.
