kgqxt, Please try this link. Enjoy, John

5eraph, I have my Unattended set to "Don't Install" and all of my [Components] section say "Off". Did you set your Unattended to "Install" - what were the [Components]? In any case was IIS available after installation? Enjoy, John.

numer51397, Your English is fine. I had a similar problem on my first build. Leaving the Computer Name blank will definitely request the name during install. Windows also has rules as to what the name can contain. This is the English rule from Help and Support: Of course the rules may be different in your language. The problem is that nLite does not enforce these rules but Windows Setup does.Hope this helps, John.

morph99, The updates will not show up under Add/Remove, so yes, checking against Windows Update is the best idea. BTW, you can burn a CD/DVD directly (no ISO) with nLite - use pull down list. You should also consider a virtual system (e.g. VirtualPC, VirtualBox, VMware Server - all free) for testing. Enjoy, John.
-
domyrat, I assume your previous reply indicates you did not use nLite to slip SP3. If true, you might try doing the whole process under nLite starting with a fresh copy of your source. Have you considered a virtual system for testing? Enjoy, John.

PJonDevelopment, Please look in your WINNT.SIF file (in my AMD64, probably in your i386 folder) and post what is in the [Components] section. Also, please attach (not paste) your LastSession.ini. Thanks and enjoy, John.

domyrat, Have you run nLite more than once on the same source folder? I notice you have removed several network pieces (Ethernet etc.). Are you sure this is not the source of you problems? It is a good to test under a virtual system (e.g. VirtualPC, VirtualBox, VMwareServer - all free), then you can quickly try several flavors of ISOs and determine if you have removed too much. Good luck, John.

Anonymouzee, I have read your post several times; I think I have an idea of what you want. Are you looking for an enhancement to nLite that will allow switches that specify various files and options, etc. that would allow you to run nLite unattended? I do not know what the official path is for requesting these kind of changes but basically you need to communicate with nuhi. You can use the e-mail address on his web site or PM him from here. Good luck, John.

SnowmanDK, The clean source question was concerned with whether you ran nLite more than once against the same source. You should start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders. I guess Ponch knows what label you are talking about but I don't - what label? If you look in LastSession_u.ini you will see private information. Please attach (not paste) your LastSession.ini. Enjoy, John. EDIT: Please look in your WINNT.SIF file (in my AMD64, probably in your i386 folder) and post what is in the [Data] section. I specified "Notify before downloads" as you did but not the minor one. My worked correctly.

jaclaz and alto, There is an ID associated with a piece of hardware and for a driver. This is how Windows finds the right driver for particular hardware. The questions comes down to whether the same type of device has the same ID for all manufacturers. I don't know the answer, but I suspect all manufacturers have unique IDs. If this is true, if you can identify all the drivers from the various builders for a specific type of HW, then you could just integrate all of them with nLite and Windows would use the IDs to select the correct driver for the HW present. I could be wrong and if so please correct me and I'll learn something. Thanks, John.

iamtheky, You need to tell cmmcnamara where to place the hot fixes and these Registry commands. Thanks, John.
-
EEEuserxp, If by "from scratch" you mean you started from fresh CD files/folders, then I can't think of much. I do notice you have included several USB drivers. Are any of these text mode drivers? Do you feel comfortable that these are the right drivers? Why so many drivers overall? Can you try it under XP? Enjoy, John.
-
cmmcnamara, Out of the Gui RunOnce, you can run .exe files. The update is just an .exe file and if you use the switches I showed, it will be silent. Please see this for a rather complicated example of how to do this. Enjoy, John.

phaolo, yes, please attach (not paste) your LastSession.ini. Enjoy, John.

I tend to agree with you. Here is a good description of the parameters and optin and alwaysoff look exclusive to me. This is the first time I have looked at this, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Is it not behaving as you expect? Is setting alwaysoff suppose to give a significant benefit? Enjoy, John.

koden, MS released IE7 as an update, so you can place it in the hot fix section. It should be placed before the fixes for IE7. Perhaps that is your integration problems with hot fixes. If you continue to have hot fix integration problems, please post your error here and attach (not paste) you LastSession.ini. Office is a different matter. You will need to investigate methods for installing applications such as WPI or possibly AddOns. Enjoy, John.
-
P_Anon, I would suggest you do all in one nLite session. You should not run nLite multiple times against the same source. I don't think the order matters, just be sure to add any hot fixes after the IE7 and WMP11 are integrated. Enjoy, John.
-
EEEuserxp, Your LastSession.ini indicates you are running nLite under Windows 2000 to create your XP ISO. I am not sure this will work and suggest you should investigate. Was your prior disk (that works) created under Win 2000? Enjoy, John.
-
Apesbrain, I agree. I have seen nothing that might cause this problem. It could be constructive to look at your LastSession since I am certainly not aware of all nLite options. Did you notice this implied question in my last post - still curious? Enjoy, John.
-
TheAzazel, I know nothing about Ryan Post-SP3 1.0.1 pack. Please attach (not paste) your LastSession.ini. Have you nLited the same source more than once? This can cause many and varied problems. Have you considered using a tool like Windows Update Downloader in jcarle's Utilities ? Then you can be in control of the updates you include. Enjoy, John.
-
Apesbrain, I have no idea what RVM does or how it does it. For best results, I always recommend doing the whole process in one nLite run. I integrate SP2 (XP x64) each time I make an ISO and it starts with a fresh copy of my original CD files/folders. SP2 takes about a minute to integrate. I have made ISOs from already nLited source and ended up with strange symptoms such as missing Quick Launch folder and the Windows logo on the Desk Top. This may not be your problem but I am curious why you decided to use a separate tool to integrate SP3. Open you LastSession.ini with notepad and you will see there is really no personal data. Most people do attach theirs. You will see that the paths to your hot fixes and drivers will be included and this may contain you account name. You should not attach your LastSession_u.ini. This does contain private information such as your key and nuhi has stated at the top not to post it. Enjoy, John.
-
phaolo, I don't know. Hopefully nuhi will respond. Yes, they should work fine. I doubt this is an nLite problem. We would need more information if you wish for some help. Enjoy, John.

Apesbrain, Most of the programs on my Start Menu are represented by a folder. All the folders are the same (generic) unless I have changed them. The shortcuts within the folders do contain the applications unique icons as does Notepad. Please attach (not paste) your LastSession.ini. Someone might be able to help. I hope you did not nLite the same source more than once. This leads to many and strange symptoms. I have no suggestions of how to correct it post install. Enjoy, John.

cmmcnamara, There is a known problem with KB956391, but I think the others should be OK. What do you mean by? If you are getting error messages, please post them. Also please attach (not paste) your LastSession.ini and make sure you are not nLiteing the same source more than once. Running out of GUI RunOnce can be silent (automatic) - use /Passive /NoRestart switches.Enjoy, John.
-
esipoko, We need more information. Please attach (not paste) your LastSession.ini and make sure you are not running nLite against a source that has been nLited before. Enjoy, John.
