  1. gabfhd79, I have looked under many rocks and can't come up with much. I see you are using unattended mode of 4. Is this GUI unattended? Why are you using this? I suspect most are using Fully Automatic (as I am). You might try this. I also see you have specified multiprocessor. Is this true? Does multicore count as multiprocessor? You said it work with SP2. Are you sure you changed only the SP2/3 between the two? Please attach your LastSession.ini from the one that worked. Enjoy, John.
  2. rokenford, Kels asked you and I think your reply was "it's possible". If this really happened, that could be the problem. Your VM parameters look great. Perhaps you could post a screen shot of your original CD files (Windows Explorer view).Enjoy, John.
  3. mitsukai, Thanks again. The profile change is not in the SIF file and there is an active discussion of that here. Thanks, John.
  4. mitsukai, I am running XP x64, so I have even more of these (32 and 64 bit versions). In both cases Regedt32 is small (5k or 7.5K) and Regedit is larger (144k or 219k). I suspect that the smaller ones are used to set conditions and call the larger ones. I also suspect many, many programs use one or the other routines to get their work done. If you remove any one or both I suspect will result in lots of programs (especially installers) to fail. If you are running under a virtual system, give it a try. It would be interesting to know what happens. I should also point out that Regedt32 is also in the DLL cache and probably protected by SFC/WFP, which can be turned off in nLite. Enjoy, John.
  5. mitsukai, thanks! John.
  6. rokenford, what are the VM parameters - memory size, HDD size? Enjoy, John.
  7. mitsukai, thanks but I would really like to see the [unattended] and [GuiUnattended] sections of your WINNT.SIF. Are there closing \ on the paths. The earlier example I posted from another post on doing this directly in their .SIF file had closing \ on all paths. Please see above. Is it required? Thanks, once again, John.
  8. mitsukai, How about attaching your LastSession.ini and the [unattended] and [GuiUnattended] sections of your WINNT.SIF, so we can see what they look like? Thanks, John.
  9. rokenford, I don't know what might be different about student version. Does your virtual system ask the "Press any key....' question when you boot the CD? If not perhaps that is how they are blocking students from installing it on multiple systems. What virtual system are you using (to repeat Kels question)? Enjoy, John.
  10. neogamer67, thanks for the report. I am glad you were able to get your system running. I have no idea what was going on with nLite and wish that nuhi (the author) would take a look. I agree it is very strange. Thanks, John.
  11. rokenford, I can't see it in your LastSession.ini, but if you disabled "Press any key...." in nLite Options, these are the symptoms you would see. Enjoy, John.

    Explorer 7 in Nlite

koden, yes you should place IE7 before updates to IE7 in your Hotfixes section of nLite. There are a number of ways to load some or most of the IE7 options. I know of no way using nLite directly. If you look around, there are many posts about Registry tweaks that can be run out of GUI RunOnce (nLite Unattended). I use WPI to run Registry updates to specify most of the IE7 options. Enjoy, John.
  13. tym, sounds like you are running nLite against a source that has already had nLite run against it. If so, this may well be your problem. When a source is nLited more than once, all kinds of strange errors appear. Always start with a fresh copy of the original files/folders. Enjoy, John.
  14. neogamer67, I still do not understand what is missing. Is Internet Explorer there, and if so does it work? Can you browse web sites? If everything in nLite was checked (notched) then I suspect Windows would not run at all. Perhaps you can post a screen shot showing what is missing. Make sure you have not run nLite against a source folder that has already had nLite run on it. Always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders. Are you testing on hardware or a virtual system? If you are not using a virtual system, you should consider VirtualBox or VirtualPC - both are free. Enjoy, John.
  15. gabfhd79, I don't have much to offer. Did you modify or have your own WINNT.SIF file that you use after nLite runs? Does your WINNT.SIF have a [GuiUnattended]? Enjoy, John.
  16. mitsukai, I don't think you can remove either Administrator or Guest accounts. NLite Unattended will not. I think the Admin account is used during install, so you probably could not even get Windows installed without it. Enjoy, John.
  17. neogamer67, I used Babel Fish to translate your first post and that worked well, so you can use French. I see nothing wrong with your LastSession.ini and can think of nothing at this time. Can you explain what you mean by "absolutely basic Windows" (Windows est basique)? Does Windows boot OK and run OK? Does Internet Explorer work? Can you tell me some things that are missing? When Windows Setup (install) asked about F6 to install RAID drivers (pilots?), did you hit F6 (you should not)? I assume pilots are drivers (device drivers, programmes pilotes de périphérique). Enjoy, John.
  18. neogamer67, sorry for my ignorance of your language. I will need to see English if I am to help. Please attach (not paste) your Last.Session.ini. Enjoy, John.
  19. gabfhd79, Please attach (not paste) your LastSession.ini. Does code looking something like this appear in WINNT.SIF?: [Unattended] ProgramFilesDir="d:\Program Files\";Program Files CommonProgramFilesDir="d:\Program Files\Common\" [GuiUnattended] ProfilesDir="d:\Documents and Settings\";Documents and Settings Enjoy, John.
  20. numer51397, After I corrected my computer name problem all of my installs have been totally unattended after the selection of partition - many, all under VMware Server. I am running XP x64 but I assume that most people using nLite are getting completely silent installs. Please attach (no paste) your LastSession.ini and make sure you have not nLited the same source more than once. Enjoy, John.
  21. SnowmanDK, the only thing I see that may be a problem is that you are running nLite on an XP x64 system while processing an XP (32 bit) source. This may or may not work correctly. Have you tried using XP SP2 Compatibility mode? (right click nLite.exe - click Properties - click Compatibility Mode tab-enable compatibility mode and select XP SP2). Is it possible to try nLiteing on a 32 bit XP system? My WINNT.SIF has AutomaticUpdates="Yes" and I have selected 'Notify...'. It works properly for me. Enjoy, John.
  22. SnowmanDK, At this time I don't have any suggestions. I would still like to see your LastSession.ini and the [Data] section of your WINNT.SIF, requested earlier. If it is at all possible, I would would like to see information in English, since I am a language illiterate American. Enjoy, John.
  23. Fernando 1, Great! Thanks much for your post. I really enjoy learning all the stuff I pick up here! Thanks, John.
  24. GretaLovejoy, We could offer only a wild guess without more information. Please attach (not paste) your LastSession.ini, tell us the source of you CD (OEM, retail, recovery, etc), screen shot of your error, and any other information that you think would be helpful. Please make sure you are not nLiteing your source folder more than once. Always start nLite with a fresh copy. Thanks and enjoy, John.
  25. 5eraph, Thanks for your reply. It's beginning to look like we have lost our original questioner. I like learning stuff but also don't use IIS. If he would respond with his WINNT.SIF [Components], we may be able to proceed, otherwise we wait. Thanks, John.
