LeCoop, Did you Disable the nLite Option-General 'Press any key..' Boot message? Enjoy, John.
-
TranceEnergy, Thanks for your response. I was hoping someone (perhaps nuhi) could/would tell me exactly what nLite has changed so I could change it back. What I have implemented (via WPI) seems to work but I am afraid I may have missed something. I will do some more searching. Thanks, John.

In order to install some modified system DLLs, I specify Disable SFC in nLite. I think it would be better to re-enable it after installation so that I have the protection offered by it. Google told me about the registry key and the SFC module modification. I have restored the sfc_os.dll to its pre-disable state and set the key as required as follows: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;Re-enable WFP [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "SFCDisable"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "SfcDisable"=dword:00000000 There are two keys as I am running XP x64. Only the 64 bit version of sfc_os.dll has been restored since the 32 bit version was not altered. I'm hoping I have found all the alterations need to fully restore SFC(WFP) to operation. I would appreciate any comments and advice on the restoration. Thanks, John.

hkclbb, Your LastSession.ini could not be simpler, so I think there is not a problem there. Is it possible for you to try on a machine with XP? Is your CD (source) an OEM, Retail, recovery or etc? Is it possible that your CD came with IE7? Go to the folder with your original CD files/folders and do a search for *ie7*. So far, the only thing that looks suspicious is the VISTA system you are nLiting under. Let us know. Thanks, John.

hkclbb, I DLed the file (I guessed well because I don't read Chinese). Your error message says enu-English??? Here is the size and MD5 for the file you pointed to in your response (language: cht): MD5 hash: 193BF89A4556ECA1AC244BEDBE7AB5AA Size: (not size on disk) 14.0 MB (14,696,480 bytes) Please check against yours. Are you installing an English version of IE7? Look at your error message. There seems to be some confusion here. Enjoy, John.

hkclbb, Way insufficient information. I suggest new posters should spend a few days looking through the topics to see what is needed and what problems are being talked about. I also suggest that first time users of nLite should do the same. Now that I got that out: Attach (not paste) your LastSession.ini. What source are you using? Where did you get your IE7 file? What OS are you running nLite under. If it is Vista as it shows on the left, that may be the problem, if you are not using XP SP2 Compatibility mode. Several others have tried building XP ISOs under Vista with mixed results. See these forums. You should always start with a fresh source, not one that has been nLited before. Enjoy, John.

HowdyDoody, You probably should attach (not paste) your LastSession.ini. Enjoy, John.

Gensou, There is an option in nLite to show this watermark. Did you check that? I suddenly saw this watermark on my DT when I nLited a source more than once. Did you do that? You should always start with a fresh copy of you CD files/folders. You can integrate your drivers. You must extract them and point nLite to the .inf files. There are many topics in this forum, including, Device Drivers. I do not know if you can assign HDDs but I suspect not. Search the forums. Enjoy, John.

Marikhen, I don't have a clue what is on your CD. It is a CD, isn't it? How could a CD ROM get written over? Maybe this is a recovery CD. Was you computer this came from an IBM? If this is a recovery CD, that may be why your key does not work. A recovery CD is an OEM type and can only be installed on one machine (hardware). Hopefully someone will recognize this CD. Enjoy, John.

HJW, To the left of the post you show Vista x86 and you indicate you are nLiteing a 64 bit ISO. This may well not work. If you are not, please attach (not paste) your LastSession.ini and tell us about your source CD and what OS you are nLiteing under. Enjoy, John.

Marikhen, Your SP3 files sound like warez to me, so we won't talk about them (see forum rules). Do you have the original RTM (Release to Manufacturing) CD? If so, then explore it and post the screen shot. Otherwise, I think you are in trouble. Enjoy, John.
-
Problem has gone away. Enjoy, John.
-
Marikhen, I really have little to contribute. Combining CDs seems problematical, from the get-go. I suggest you copy all the files/folders from your SP0 (others call it RTM or GOLD since there really is no SP0), then take a screen shot of an explore of the files/folders and post it here. BTW, where did the SP3 CD come from? Enjoy, John.

vivavilla, Did you install Text Mode drivers, such as SATA drivers? If so, look at that aspect of you nLite build - correct drivers, etc? Enjoy, John.

(RESOLVED) Integrating Royale microsoft theme (RESOLVED)
johnhc replied to dssamusaran's topic in nLite
dssamusaran, I managed to figure out how to DL the theme and have tried it on my VM. DesktopTheme = Par défaut|| Looks like this must mean default - right? Have you tried selecting Royale - does it show in nLite list? I am not real knowledgeable, but at first blush, this is not a theme but an appearance style. I am looking at a way around this. I'll look some more and see what I can determine. It does not show up in my list either. I just pasted the folder into the Windows\Resources\theme folder. When I click the luna.msstyles, I get the Appearance tab of the DT properties but going directly to the Properties, it does not show. The Readme.txt says to open the luna.msstyles and select the Royale style. Look in your Windows\Resources\theme and see what is there for Royale. Nice looking appearance especially the noir one. Enjoy, John. -
RandomCake, have you tried Google? I get several hits on : Please take a look. Enjoy, John.

crashfly, Glad you tracked it down. I also have Comodo (currently running in Safe Mode) and when I get a complaint (popup from Comodo) while nLiteing, I put Comodo in Installation Mode and have seen no problems. Enjoy, John.

zamzon and toolazy, I think you will have to try to contact nuhi to get the type of answers you are seeking (try e-mail or PM). I certainly cannot help in this area. Perhaps someone else can respond. I would surely like to hear the ultimate answer. Good luck, John.

(RESOLVED) Integrating Royale microsoft theme (RESOLVED)
johnhc replied to dssamusaran's topic in nLite
dssamusaran, Please attach (not paste) your Last.Session.ini and let us know where you're getting your Royale theme. Thanks, John. -
zamzon, It sounds like you have nLited the same source more than once. This often leads to errors that are multifarious and strange. I suggest to start with a fresh copy of your original CD files/folders and do all your integration in one nLite session. Enjoy, John.
-
crookadile, Sorry, I have to ask the question - Did you remove the first theme? I assume you are using the the Desktop Themes tab on Unattended. Have you nLited the same source more than once? You must always start with a fresh copy of the original CD files/folders. I plan on updating my theme this afternoon and if I discover any thing, I'll let you know. Even though the theme name is different, some of the underling files are the same names. Look for 'desktoptheme' in your LastSession.ini. Enjoy, John.

Spontaneous, I agree. One should do what works for them. I am reflecting what I have read many times in this forum and a few bad experiences I have had (such as missing Quick Launch folder). Enjoy, John
-
crashfly, I doubt it! Don't you think we would have heard from many others if that were true? In the future, please attach your LastSession.ini and not paste it. I would suspect the packs, myself. I have never used them and don't know how safe they are. I do know that if you nLite a source more than once you are asking for trouble. I don't know if that would include using some other integrator then nLite. Perhaps someone else will comment. I suggest you consider starting a little lower down, such as making an ISO with only the SP you need and see if that works. If so, then add something else, not just everything at once. Enjoy, John.
-
hoehne, I agree with mara-, you are asking for trouble nLiteing the same source more than once. I think several people have had trouble with their keys after doing this. nLite (1.4.9.1) will automatically detect WMP11 and run the slipstreamer. So just add WMP11 as a hot fix in nLite. You should be able to do all you need to in the same session. Definitely do not install SP2 then SP3. Please try it and let us know how it goes on Vista. Enjoy, John.

Gerry.Curtis, If you have an AMD CPU, you might give this a try. KB953356 It is for continuous reboot, but it may help. Please let us know. Enjoy, John.
