isnt open office several hundred mb in size?

i know its possible but i've never done it myself. i've even read about how its done on some other forum.. but i've forgotten where lol i think it involves resource hacker

i'm not a fan of 3rd party apps either. but sometimes it's needed in order to have more advanced options. i'm not really sure what geepnozeex did or used. i tried one of his vs and if you notice in all his pictures he has text removed near the logoff buttons, but when i tried his vs the text was actually showing up like normal. so for some reason his screenshots dont seem to be exactly accurate

that might be a limitation on the xp theme. if you notice, when you click on the start button and then the log off or turn off computer button, then there is a highlight color when mousing over. its been my experience that this color is always the same color as the one when you mouse over your programs or program folders. in all the dozens of visual styles i've used, this has always been the case. so i think its a limitation on what xp can render. there is a program called vistart however. maybe it will accomplish what you are trying to do. here are a bunch of skins people made for it http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=&section=&q=vistart

could it be possible that it has to do with the software for the Hauppauge pvr 350 ?

what are you are doing with nlite that causes you to suspect that is the problem?

a. you need to use UXtheme patcher before you can apply the new themes b. i'm not sure what you mean by transparent highlight

i wouldnt use m$ windows update for drivers. some of the ones on there are outdated. if possible, try to get the drivers from the manufacturers
