  1. I don't get this! I've included WMP11 and IE7 and continued testing, videoediting hanged as usual... I've deleted all directories containing source files from XP. All new files corresponds to MD5 etc from johnhc. Empty directories. I'm using nlite to copy from original CD. Apply SP3 and include WMP11 and IE7. Local settings. Lastsession says: Env = 1.4.9.1 - 2.0.50727.1433.Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Target = Windows XP Professional SP3 - 5.1.2600.5512 - English (United States) Earlier lastsession says (as it should): Env = 1.4.9.1 - 2.0.50727.1433.Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Target = Windows XP Professional SP0 - 5.1.2600.0 - English (United States) Regards Bengt Last_Session.ini
  2. Hi Johnhc, What I meant is that I slipstreamed the newly downloaded SP3 into XP and installed. I then installed the videoediting program and sucessfully edited three (3) videofiles of large size. nothing else was added. I've never been able to do this with a nlited XP before. No hang at all!!! I'll see if I can add other programs to see if it still works. There must have been something wrong when downloading servicepacks before. Bengt
  3. Johnhc, I've downloaded SP3 again before i got your reply and tested. It seems to work with SP3 now!!! But I'm not sure how many times i've tried this... (the expression is not suitable to write here...) ;-) The new file corresponds to you MD5 and size. Do you perhaps also have MD5 and size for - IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe - wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe I'm pretty sure it is not the application. I've tried quite a few "free to try" video editors. Everyone reacts the same way. Application hangs (does not respond) CPU "Idle" Disk "Idle"
  4. Hi, I've checked as much as I can think of. - The CD had a small scratch so i bought a CD restore/clean device. Original CD is now as nice as new. (it was not so bad.) - I'm using nlite to copy to HDD. - I think I can rule out settings pages as the bandit in this. One thing to check is to see if SP3 is correctly downloaded. Is it possible to check this in any way? Some kind of checksum??? Bengt66
  5. Johnhc, I've almost always started from a fresh copy of the CD. But to be on the completely safe side i've let nlite do the copying from the CD. This takes a little more time, but just to make sure. Now i've tested with SP3 and nothing other done. No settings or nothing... This seems to work! I've never succeded in editing a 2 gig file from an nlited installation before. I'll check to se when it starts to fail again. If it fails... Now I suspect something in the unattended page, I'll get back to you.
  6. Hi All, Now I have tested with VirtualBox. My testing machine only has 512 MB memory, so i expected my problems with VirtualBox was due to that. So I switched to my htpc, 2 gig om memory. I tested the latest images from nlite and they failed even to install! Or should I say, they looked to install correctly but failed to start up afterwards. It seems to hang on "loading personal settings". So i tried with Ubuntu (Linux), this installed nicely. Now I've downloaded all files and reinstalled nlite. I created a new image without slipstreaming. That is I added nothing! This installed as it should on VirtualBox. The only thing I changed in the settings was personal information (serial number etc...). Then I slipstreamed SP3 and used the same settings. This image failed to install correctly. This also hanged at startup on "loading personal settings"! Nothing else then SP3 was included. I should have enough space. The last video file I tried to edit is about 2 gig in size. My system disk has about 7 gig free... Earlier on I've used temporary disks with a lot more free space. Earlier when I tried to edit a video file, the program just stops working. It did not respond. My CPU is almost idle! It just stopped executing! I don't expect it to be the disks that's the problem. I've set temporary to different partitions just to test. No change! I'm not supposed to need SP1 or SP2. But microsofts homepage states: "System Requirements Supported Operating Systems: Windows XP Home Edition ; Windows XP Professional Edition ; Windows XP Service Pack 1; Windows XP Service Pack 2" Does this mean I need either SP1 or SP2 to make it work? Even though I've earlier tried to apply SP2 then SP3??? And I'm using an English version of XP pro and SP3. I'll check on other slipstreaming programs, but I would like to get nlite to work! Any other idea? Best regards Bengt
  7. Hi, zipzap: On my HTPC i'm using Hauppauge pvr 350 to record tv-shows. It's these files I want to be able to edit correctly. On my other machine I have two separate OS partitions. One partition contain a clean install from an original XP SP0 CD. This installation is obviously updated to SP3. I'm testing nlite on the other partition. I'm sucessfully editing all video files on the first partition, but it fails when I install any XP that´s been nlitened! So on the very same machine video editing works fine if using the old CD, but not when I've used nlite. johnhc: No, i'm not using any virtual system, this is why i'm getting a headache!!! Witch one would you recommend using? I've tested quite a few different approaches: - Only SP2 - SP2 with hotfixes - SP2 with hotfixes and addons - Only SP3 - SP2 then adding SP3. - SP3 only - SP3 with a huge number of addons (including WMP11 and IE7) and DriverPacks. This took a DVD to burn... I do think I've tested a few more alternatives, but these are the ones I do remember. The result is always the same!!! I've been using nlite for about a year or two. Always the same problem... This is strange, I must do something wrong since i've had installations on a total of three (3) machines!!! Sometimes i retransfer my XP CD to harddrive so I know it is the original, but this does not change a thing. Best regards Bengt
  8. Hi, Well, since I get the problem only when I've created a new CD with nlite i suspect i'm doing something wrong. I have one installation running om my htpc, everything works except editing videos. I was hoping to find some errors generated in some logfile. Initially I have always used a clean (original) disk. This last time I obviously did not. Uploading a few last session, all fails the same way. I think I've tried how it should be done and what NOT to do! ;-) Best regards Bengt Last_Session.ini Last_Session__2008.07.11_15.57.44_.ini Last_Session__2008.07.11_16.11.35_.ini Last_Session__2008.07.20_18.54.38_.ini Last_Session__2008.12.23_19.50.00_.ini
  9. Hi, I'm not a wizard with computers but i do think this should not be a problem. What am I doing wrong? Trying to edit videos hangs if the file is not extremely small. I'm using XP professional X86. An old build without any service pack on it. I have been using several versions of nlite and I do get the same problem no matter how I do. It does not matter if i include only SP2 or fill up with several other programs and drivers. Last time I included SP3 with quite a lot of stuff, same problem. It does not matter if I install drivers for motherboard etc after installing or not. It does not seem to matter witch video editing tool I'm using. I've been downloading quite a few that are free to test. The one I usually use is Ulead VideoStudio 9 SE DVD. Everything else seems to be working, but I have not tried it out extensively. I'm getting a headache!!! This should not be a problem! Please help me getting this straightened out. I've been searching for logfiles of the creation, but does not seem to find any. It all works fine with the original disc though, but I will not be able to install on sata-2 disks (as far as I understand). Best regards Bengt
