Hi Mate! OK! I can't create an account because it would require an activation code for the program and I can't use them because of the company going out of business... OK! I have the wim applied on the original computer and have updtated it with all the latest updtates etc...I have the program activated under my user account. I did try updating everything and then removing the user account and noticed that in Administrator mode the program had vanished and if I click on it in program files it wants an activation code....!! Lost about three hours today....lol I have got into the practice of activating the administrator account and removing user so it would be a clean image...,but in this situation with my own personal stuff I don't care and was wondering if I can sysprep it and generalise it and keep my account intact? Sorry, as you know I am known for waffling on a bit B) bookie32

Hi guys I am getting my knickers in a twist here and need some help. I created a wim file for a specific computer with all my applications working etc. This wim file had my user account etc...I have a program that the company has gone out of business and the program is for learning to type the right way with lots of exercises etc. The problem is the password for the pogram is user specific and I need to keep account details, but sysprep and generalise the image; so it can be used on other hard ware..... I can't buy this program any more and it wasn't cheap, so I would like to preserve it if possible I am not sure if I can do this and that is why I am asking you guys. I have paid for the software and everytime you reinstall it asks for an activation code...I have them but the company doesn't exist, so I can't use my licenses if doing a clean install. bookie32

MDT 2010 Sysprep and Capture Problems Again
bookie32 replied to bookie32's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
Hi Tripredacus If I understand you question - then I just chose new task sequence and set as follows: New Task Sequence: Task sequence id = bla, bla Task sequence name: Sysprep and Capture Select Template: Sysprep and Capture Select OS: OS= Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Specify product key: Do not specify product key at this time OS Settings: Full name= Windows User Organization=datornissen Admin Password: Do not specify an Administrator password at this time My deployment settings are standard My bootstrap is standard and points to my Server computer \\DN1\Build$ I do like most and use the ipaddress when connecting to server \\192.168.1.2\Build$ Using \\DN1\Build$seems to throw up problems? I tested the reference you gave and it came up OK, but wouldn't run a stadard sysprep with out deactivating the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service... Thanks Mate! bookie32 -

MDT 2010 Sysprep and Capture Problems Again
bookie32 replied to bookie32's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
Hi mate Nice one... I will have a look at that as soon as I can. Not wanting to risk the restrictions with sysprep...I booted a peboot cd and used mapping to network drive to transfer the image directly to my server...which worked. Never done mapping to a network drive before, so that saved me some time... Will get back to you on this! Thanks! bookie32 -
Hi Mate Can't account for why this has been giving me a headache today.....already had one when I got up this morning....lol I agree with what you are saying, but it has been a pain... Thanks for stopping by bookie32

Hi Tripredacus OK! Bit late in responding to this thread...pressure of work and all that. I wanted to say that I am a grumpy old git at times, but do appreciate all the help I get on the forum ..... I am always recommending the forum to my friends that are serious computer freeks......LOL If you think I am ungrateful at any time - then feel free and kick me up the backside bookie32

MDT 2010 Sysprep and Capture Problems Again
bookie32 replied to bookie32's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
Hi again! When MDT 2010 gave errors while creating wim file...I took the opportunity of booting from a PE Boot disk and capturing the drive. This has gone without errors.... So, I presume I have some setting in the task sequence that isn't playing ball, but I only have standard settings....? So, I would like some feed back about the whole process to see if I am doing something wrong.... This seems repetative now because I have posted about all of this before... bookie32 -
MDT 2010 Sysprep and Capture Problems Again
bookie32 replied to bookie32's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
Hi again! Well, I am getting more and more fedup with Microsoft and their crap.... I found a part solution to my problem and the info was here Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service I can't believe that sysprep would fail because of Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service...but he is right. I followed the instructions and tested a standard sysprep and not MDT 2010 and it worked OK? I tried MDT 2010 and everything started OK and even gave me about 500mb av wim file before it threw up errors of which I haven't documented at the moment. Does anyone have any input? bookie32 BTW This problem was supposed to have been fixed before windows 7 was released....then why is it rearing its ugly head again and I have a retail version? -
Hi again I don't create images that often and it is a headache from start to finish every time when I use MDT 2010?! I have created a task sequence on mdt 2010 to sysprep and capture the image from my computer and it throws up lots of errors?! I can't even run a standard sysprep without getting the errors in following:?! 2012-02-20 08:22:15, Error [0x0f0082] SYSPRP LaunchDll:Failure occurred while executing 'drmv2clt.dll,Sysprep', returned error code -2147024864[gle=0x00000020] 2012-02-20 08:22:15, Error [0x0f0070] SYSPRP RunExternalDlls:An error occurred while running registry sysprep DLLs, halting sysprep execution. dwRet = -2147024864[gle=0x00000020] 2012-02-20 08:22:15, Error [0x0f00a8] SYSPRP WinMain:Hit failure while processing sysprep cleanup providers; hr = 0x80070020[gle=0x00000020] 2012-02-20 08:43:40, Error [0x0f0082] SYSPRP LaunchDll:Failure occurred while executing 'drmv2clt.dll,Sysprep', returned error code -2147024864[gle=0x00000020] 2012-02-20 08:43:40, Error [0x0f0070] SYSPRP RunExternalDlls:An error occurred while running registry sysprep DLLs, halting sysprep execution. dwRet = -2147024864[gle=0x00000020] 2012-02-20 08:43:40, Error [0x0f00a8] SYSPRP WinMain:Hit failure while processing sysprep cleanup providers; hr = 0x80070020[gle=0x00000020] 2012-02-20 09:22:23, Error [0x0f0082] SYSPRP LaunchDll:Failure occurred while executing 'drmv2clt.dll,Sysprep', returned error code -2147024864[gle=0x00000020] 2012-02-20 09:22:23, Error [0x0f0070] SYSPRP RunExternalDlls:An error occurred while running registry sysprep DLLs, halting sysprep execution. dwRet = -2147024864[gle=0x00000020] 2012-02-20 09:22:23, Error [0x0f00a8] SYSPRP WinMain:Hit failure while processing sysprep cleanup providers; hr = 0x80070020[gle=0x00000020] 2012-02-20 09:48:50, Error [0x0f0082] SYSPRP LaunchDll:Failure occurred while executing 'drmv2clt.dll,Sysprep', returned error code -2147024864[gle=0x00000020] 2012-02-20 09:48:50, Error [0x0f0070] SYSPRP RunExternalDlls:An error occurred while running registry sysprep DLLs, halting sysprep execution. dwRet = -2147024864[gle=0x00000020] 2012-02-20 09:48:50, Error [0x0f00a8] SYSPRP WinMain:Hit failure while processing sysprep cleanup providers; hr = 0x80070020[gle=0x00000020] All I have done is install all applications, update windows etc and then try to run my task sequence from my server... I connect to the server by using ip address + Build$ and then run the lite vbs script... Everything goes OK and then I get the error window with 8 errors etc. Please, tell me why this should be such a pain to do every time? bookie32 PS sorry the image is in Swedish..

Hi cluberti Nice to hear from you.... to be quite honest I hadn't given much thought to what size of drive or even make of drive I deploy my wims to...That said a lot of people are getting the same errors coming up and that makes you wonder a little. I had created a wim on a wd black 500GB drive and tried to deploy that to a wd blue 320GB drive and it would not take? I then installed everything on the 320GB drive created my wim and tried to then deploy it to the 500GB drive and the same error. Because I had cleaned the 500GB drive I thought...what the hell I will try to reinstate the original wim from the 500BG drive and see what gives... and it worked? Hence my post to say it worked after fixing boot as normal? I have since tried again to deploy to the 320GB drive and the same error occurs? What is the cause of this then? bookie32
-
Hi Tripredacus OK! I have just woken up....lol While I can understand that many are complaining of the problems with deploying to another hard drive when you haven't run sysprep (including me)...which I found out - one forgets the ****** obvious and do exactly what you said...run sysprep and avoid the problems of a different computer or drive.... I do hope I am right in saying that I can deploy to a different size hard drive after using sysprep? If that is the case - then that solves my problem for the time being...lol bookie32
-
Hi again! Well, that seems to be the case and it stinks!! Microsoft need to get their act to gether and sort this... Many are like me and create a wim without sysprepping because of the limitations of sysprep... It is my Windows 7 Ultimate and I paid a lot when it came out... So, at the moment I can't capture an image as a wim and put it on another drive on the same computer?! Let us look at the logic of that....no logic....lol Let's face it...the drive you have now might not be around in a couple of years and you need to use a large one etc... I don't want to have to reinstall everything just because Windows is fixated with the information taken from the original drive when creating the wim file....?! Can't believe I am the only one that thinks this is plain madness... Well, I will have to be a bit more careful untill Microsoft deal with this problem... bookie32
-
Hi mate Long time no see...lol Well, I have a retail Windows 7 Ultimate and I installed it on a drive and updated etc...captured a wim and deployed it to another drive. I am not sure if I have actually done that before, but from what I have been reading that is a common problem...Windows 7. Just about to test that theory...will get back to you on that...if it is true - then this is a big problem for me... bookie32

Hi folks! Not sure what to call this thread I have a problem and don't know what is happening.... I have tried a couple of times now to restart my computer after applying a wim file and it just hangs....?? I have done this so many times I am sure I could do it in my sleep.....lol I install my computer and update it and then add all my software (not antivirus software) and then create a wim file of the installation... nothing special with that.... Usually after restarting the computer I run repair to make sure boot info is working... I then can log in to Windows without any problems...., but for some reason it goes to setting up the computer and a window pops up and says the computer needs to be restarted....The thing is the whole screen is blue and I have a " This copy of windows is not genuine" and that is all I get....?! I have never experienced anything like this before.... I now have restarted as instructed and it just goes to a light blue screen and hangs there. I dont get any errors when creating the wims either... The hard drives are not showing any errors either and they aren't that old any way... Has anyone any ideas? bookie32

hi cluberti Thanks for that...you live and learn.... bookie32

Hi again! OK! Part of the problem was the Ipv6 protocol...I had it turned off and it is needed for "homegroup" bookie32
-
Hi guys! Haven't had the time to look at this further...is there a way to make sure none of them is Master Browser etc? bookie32
-
Hi again OK! the Main-Computer is Windows 7 DatorNissen is my customer computer (and the name of my company) The XP computer isn't on at the moment or the Media Center Which is Windows 7... I seem to remember creating "Home Group" on the Media Center and the other two Windows 7 Computers don't want to join? Must be some conflict there.... OK! I am going to remove the Media Center from the "Home Group" and start over to see if that clears the way....LOL All of my computeres apart from the Windows 2008 r2 Server are apart of "PAGENYGARD" workgroup...these are mine and my girlfriends surnames....apart from her name has a Swedish letter "å" and I don't like to cause problems with Swedish names.....LOL... OK! I will sort this out and post when completed.... bookie32
-
Hi Nope....it was a Windows 7....I haven't joined my Windows 7 computers to a "homegroup", but that shouldn't be necessary? bookie32
-
Hi again! OK! more info....this looks like conflict between computers on my network? I turned off my main computer and sure enough the servers became visable to my customer computer?! They are in the same workgroup, so what could that be? bookie32
-
Hi mate! Now that is interesting.... OK I never attempt an installation if the original COA isn't present....but I have noticed that ....before one could opt to ring and talk to someone personally...that still stands for Vista and Windows 7, but lately if I have needed to activate a license I call it in and the recorded message just tells me I have fallen victim of a pirate copy and I need to go on line and buy one.....? That doesn't help me or my customer!! Have you any advice about that? bookie32

Hi again! Just a little update... I have now turned off the firewall in Windows as well ....nada?! bookie32

Hi guys OK! I have a situation that is driving me nuts... I have a home network with 4 windows computers (3 Windows 7 and 1 Windows XP) I also have two naslite servers included in my network.... My main computer is showing all of them when on line...no problems.. My customer computer is not seeing the naslite servers....I had the F-Secure Anitvirus setup the same way as the others but nada....?! I have even removed the Antivirus software...but no naslite servers? I can contact them via Telnet and administer them via Telnet.....even ping the individual computers, but I can't see them to add files etc....?! Can someone give me a clue as to what is causing this? bookie32
