  1. Hi again! Don't want to seem ungrateful....don't buy components abroad... bookie56
  2. Hi again! Nice PSU's but they don't really sell here in Sweden... Thanks anyway! bookie32
  3. Hi MagicAndre1981 ! Thanks for the info. I will have a look and post back later. bookie32
  4. Hi again Just a slight modification to original build....changed the psu now. The CORSAIR HX 750W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V gets a good write up here and I want to save on cables..... Not been the cheapest build I have done for myself...but wanted something reliable! bookie32
  5. Hi MagicAndre1981 I have now amended the original post with build... I have received a reply from Noctua...stating that all heatsinks are checked before leaving the factory and an apology for the inconvenience caused... If I am unfortunate to receive another one now in exchange - then I will have to think again regarding Noctuas standards...and go with something else instead... I have bought a ton of Noctua fans etc and nearly all of them have been of a good quality...it is just this big beasty I am a little worried about.... bookie32
  6. Hi folks! Thought I'd give a little update on my build...... I have tried to incorperate a little from all you have said..... I did look ro a while at an Asus mobo: ASUS M5A99X EVO 990X AM3+ ATX...,but I then looked at a Gigabyte mobo and decided on that....one has to try something different....so now my build looks like this: Chassi: NZXT Classic Series H2 - miditower - ATX Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 (rev. 1.0) - moderkort - ATX - Socket AM3+ - AMD 990FX (GA-990FXA-UD3) Procesor: AMD Black Edition AMD Phenom II X6 1090T / 3.2 GHz processor Memory: 2x CORSAIR Vengeance Dual C DDR3 8GB Kit, 1600MHz (CML8GX3M2A1600C9B) Hard Drives: 1x KINGSTON HYPERX 120GB SSD SATA/600 MLC KIT (for OS) Hard Drives: 2x WESTERN DIGITAL CAVIAR BLACK 1TB 7200RPM SATA/600 64MB (for fast storage) Hard Drives: 2x WESTERN DIGITAL CAVIAR GREEN 2TB SATA/300 64MB (for main storage customer images etc) PSU: CORSAIR HX 750W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V Graphics Card: ASUS RADEON HD5670 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E VGA/DVI/HDMI Heatsink: NOCTUA NH-D14 S-1155/1156/1366/AM3 Nothing is going according to plan...decided on the NH-D14 because of the reputation behind it ...NOT happy. This time I orderd my parts from different suppliers because of the demand for electronics is exeding the supply....and it is hard to get hold of stuff...LOL Anyway, I had my Noctua for a few days before the other stuff came and hadn't checked inside the box to see if there was any damage....Noctua is known for its quality, but it would seem there are a number of units getting passed their quality control that don't meet up with what one expects from Noctua There are two radiators on this beasty and one of them was crooked, so the tower doesn't stand so straight...?! My supplier is replacing it, but now I have to wait for that....help...I have built new computers with this heatsink for customers and haven't had any trouble...typical when one is building for one seelf... To give you an idea of what I mean..check out the two videos....the first is with a presentation of the NH-D14 and he appears not to have noticed that one of the radiators is crooked.... The second is how we expect our products from Noctua.... (check the part where he has just removed the NH-D14 from the box) Well. my Noctua NH-D14 is more crooked than the first.....I have written to Noctua in case they are not aware of the problem..... Well, I will give you some more info when I have tested it....will have to wait to Monday now when the new heatsink should turn up... bookie32
  7. Hi again! The search didn't find anything Anymore suggestions..... bookie32

  9. Hi MagicAndre1981 Can you explain a little more about that...sounds interesting! bookie32
  10. Hi tomasz86 Yep, I have checked that..... bookie32
  11. Hi folks A customer has come to me with an Advent 1015 nordic laptop....I have been looking at upgrading memory for him and checking updates etc.... When I click on Windows Update it opens a window that is entirely in English, but everything else is in Swedish? It is a computer line that is bought in by a local superstore....crap is my opinion...but there you go... Why would Updtate be in English? Can I change this? Never had one of these before Any thoughs would be gratefully received..... Thanks! bookie32
  12. Hi tomasz86! Thanks for the update! I will definitely have them in mind....... bookie32
  13. Hi tomasz86! OK! It had been a long time since I heard about SAS drives....had to have a look and see what is available nowadays.... From my local supplier we have a couple of makes by Hitachi and Seagate... Hitachi have the Ultrastar 15k600 450GB SAS 64MB...nice drive, but long over my budget.....sorry, didn't mention budget...my budget is my girlfriend and she goes....NO!.....LOL about 553 USD at the mo...too rich for my blood... There are slower ones but too expensive at the moment... Thanks for your input! bookie32
  14. Hi tomasz86 Would you care to elaborate a little on that....... Make and model of hard drive? bookie32
  15. Hi MagicAndre1981 ! OK! Great I will have a look at those and then give proposed specs for the new computer... Thanks again! bookie32 P.S. God! It is my birthday...Oh No...Yet another bites the dust...LOL
  16. Hi cluberti ! Thanks for the heads up on that! bookie32
  17. Hi 03GrandAmGT Thanks for the info.....nice! bookie32
  18. Hi guys! Thanks for the info...been looking at amd and a lot cheaper.....phew What about mobo is there one specific that you have in mind? bookie56
  19. Hi folks! There is a ton of info out there.....about AMD and Intel processors, but just wondered which is best suited to VMware Workstation. OK! not looking to build a specific server....too expensive at the moment, but looking for a computer that has power for the host but doesn't lag in the virtual department.... I will more than likely be running Windows Ultimate and using my VMware workstation... Been looking at Hyper-v and am interested in that as welll....LOL I am not interested in gaming at all, so I don't need a mobo for that..... I understand that a great deal of memory is needed for virtualisation to run well..... Some say you need an Intel processor with hyperthreading and some say AMD are just better... I would really welcome suggestions on mobo processor etc I have looked at a chassi and am toying with the FRACTAL DESIGN MIDITOWER DEFINE R3 BLACK or the NZXT MIDITOWER H2 ATX BLACK, but would welcome opinions on that as well.... As for he cooling of the processor - haven't tried water cooling and don't know what is good/bad...I have tried the NOCTUA NH-D14 S-1155/1156/1366/AM3 and it is reliable and stable...would welcome input on that as well...... More Info: I am going to be using this computer for testing distros and updating windows 7 etc... in VMware, so it will need to cope, but as I said I am interested in Hyper-v and would like to build a computer capable of running that as well..... It will also be used as a storage vessel for my images and am toying with the idea of dualbooting Windows and Ubuntu for that...have already tried FOG and like that for imaging. Sorry, for the missmash of info...just a bit tired of looking at all the variables and can't decide on which processor or mobo.....HELP! Thanks, as always for your help! bookie32
  20. Hi allen2! Sorry, bit late in responding to this thread.... I have tried firefox and it is OK... The even stranger thing is I receive many emails from a particular company and certain emails can be printed as pdf no problem but others can't?! It must be some encryption....? bookie32
  21. Hi again! I have tried photorec...brilliant! I like the script that sorts out the files afterwards..nice! TestDisk the partner to photorec gets a lot of good press....I even looked at CAINE (ComputerForensics Linux Live Distro) and they include photrec and TestDisk.. @nitroshift Thanks for the comments! I will get around to looking at r-studio... bookie32
  22. Hi allen2! I will take a look... Thanks! bookie32
  23. Hi folks! Looking to recover data deleted accidentely from a hard drive....... What is a good program for recovering deleted data? When I googled...every report was different? Don't want to waste money on a program that can't deliver...LOL Thanks bookie32
