  1. Hi folks! I use gmail for my email and haven't had a problem before... I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed and IE9. OK! I print my mails as pdf at times and at the moment IE9 is making a hash of things... I usually click on print out my email and then choose the option PDF.... Everything goes OK a new window opens to show me the file to be saved and then as I have saved it it opens as PDF...this is where it goes pearshaped...the file opening is all symbols and not my original open file? I shows the basic format of the file I want to save, but has changed the text to gobbly gook....LOL Is this anything anyone has come accross? bookie32
  2. Hi MagicAndre1981 Thanks for your info... Some days my brain takes a walk.....LOL bookie32

  4. Hi Mate! Thanks for the info will get to it. BTW when I connect a USB memory....sometimes it just freezes the computer and some times it restarts it...I will set it up not to restart if it is a BSOD and we can take it from there... Thanks! bookie32
  5. Hi again! Back on the case again! I need som help regarding what I should info I should add with the following command: cscript adplus.vbs -crash -pn appname -quiet -o c:\adplus (where "appname" is the .exe name of the application that is crashing) OK! I am attaching a USB to the front port on my computer, so I am uncertain what the .exe could be? Can someone help me with this ....Please! I will say I upgraded my comptuter with a faster ram memory ...which it should handle, but at the faster speed it kept on throwing up BSOD's . I have since reset the memory and no BSOD's. I have used the USB front ports without problem in the past...don't understand what is going on... Thanks! bookie32
  6. Hi again! Just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotton this thread.....laid up with a very bad back and can't really work with my computers.....Sorry! bookie32
  7. Hi folks I thought I'd ask here because the standard of knowledge here is better than just about any other forum..... OK! been messing around with objectdock . I have tried several different ways of adding programs like "system restore" to the dock but haven't been successful. I have even tried .bat files, but the same problem exists when you execute the command...address couldn't be found etc Just wondering if any of you guys have any experience of objectdock/rocketdock etc and can help me? bookie32
  8. Hi nitroshift I thank you for you info and will get to that as soon as I can.... Thanksk! bookie32
  9. Hi again! Thought I'd concentrate on this problem for a while.... I have two USB ports on the front of the chassi and they go to a connector block which cannot be connected wrongly....LOL I retested the same port now and instead of restarting the computer it froze it..., so I have disconnected it from the motherboard.... It is strange...the chassi is an Antec ThreeHundred and I haven't known of any problems for this one.... The cable connector cable is a decent one..I have several USB connectors on mobo...and can try another one.... any ideas anyone? bookie32
  10. Hi again You all know me by now....like to keep you on your toes....LOL! Got a problem with one of my own computers... I can give you all the details that you need...just ask! I should have done somethnig about this a while ago, but pressure of work....you know... When I connect a sandisk cruiser to a usb port on the front of my computer it kills the computer and restarts it?! At the moment - I have only noticed on one of the two ports and I can't really say if it happens every time....... What is themost likely cause of this? I use this USB memory all the time and tested it straight away in another computer without probem....I will check the obvious connector problems from the chassi to motherboard...just in case. bookie32
  11. Hi guys! Program settings is not my scene...halve a customer with a computer that crashed and we had to use recovery partition to reinstall it. I created the two user accounts as they had before the crash.... I have just heard that when documents are written now despite which user is logged in - they have the same owner? I don't know much about word and its workings.....LOL Are there settings where I can change who the owner is? (Sorry, this should be change author of documents) I naturally assumed that the person logged in has the wrights to their documents and that that is automatic...? Can someone help me with this problem? Thanks as always! bookie32
  12. Hi mate! God you are on the ball today.... I was wondering if I should run a program called driver verifier to see if that turns up anything... Thanks for checking for me...I looked in the log and didn't find anything either... bookie32
  13. Hi MagicAndre1981 I should explain the situation... Have a customer who left his computer several hours one day and on coming back to the computer couldn't wake it. When he came to me with it I was forced to zero the bios, because the computer would start...stop...start...stop etc After setting the bios to default - Windows 7 started from hibernate and everything was OK....We updated the bios a while ago, so I presume it is todo with Windows.....He has corded mouse, corded keyboard, two printers and an extern drive connected to the computer....Can't see that any of them would cause the problem... Anyway, I created the xml and included it on Skydrive for you. If you want you can post the contents of the xml - and show me if there is anything strange there....... You are looking at the hibernate trace in Skydrive.... If we need to run a different trace.....no problems! I actually tested the hibernate yesterday ...leaving the computer several hours, but I didn't have any trouble waking it.... bookie32
  14. Hi MagicAndre1981! I did do a search for previous info, but like you say....nothing...LOL You don't need to apologize...I am just grateful for your help I will post some info as soon as I get a mo... If I am to remove procuct key info etc - how do I find that info? Thanks as always! bookie32
  15. Hi MagicAndre1981 OK! I have asked you this before, but didn't get a reply....I have done a new trace on a customer's computer and ran this code to test the hiberate... xbootmgr -trace hibernate -traceFlags BASE+CSWITCH+DRIVERS+POWER -resultPath C:\TEMP My question is how do I get to see the xml print out that you show? You show this code: To start create a summary xml file, run this command (replace the name with the name of your etl file) xperf /tti -i boot_BASE+CSWITCH+DRIVERS+POWER_1.etl -o summary_boot.xml -a boot What would I run with the code for my hibernate? Thanks bookie32
  16. Hi guys and girls... It's me again...LOL OK! have been messing around with rocketdock and objectdock.....I have tried to create a shortcut for the "safely remove hardware" and I am creating the link etc, but it wont work......help! I create the link on desktop and add the following info: C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll I get it to start in: C:\Windows\System32 And I give it a system icon: %SystemRoot%\System32\hotplug.dll When I run the command it opens the "safely remove hardware window" and I click on stop the USB in question and it comes up error... My Cruzer Blade is apparently not removable?! As soon as I click on the normal disconnect icon it removes it directly?! Am I missing something here? Can someone tell me what is wrong? bookie32

  23. Hi guys! Have been trying for an hour to upload info and can't get any where?!! I have removed all files and retested ...nada? bookie32
  24. Hi Tripredacus! Yes, I hear what you are saying...in this case I think the culprit is a HDD (Sata), but am still working on that one...... I will look at it a little closer as soon as I get a mo...Just plain irritating!! bookie32
  25. Hi folks Does anyone mind if I add a comment.....LOL OK greate info guys, but all of you have missed a point and this isn't a diig at you I was wondering about removing the wim file from the system partition after imaging as well... Easiest solution seems to leave a letter assigned to the "system" partition and go in windows and just remove the wim file and then the letter assigned...unless someone thinks I am losing the plot... I do thank you all for your helpful info and will be looking at that.... MSFN is clearly the best place to be by far!! bookie32
