  1. Yes the name.tag will have a different name for the moment I'm using name.tag all lower case (case sensitive for NTFS that is information worth knowing.) Thanks for explaining the reason why it is shown as (hd1,4) Yes I was thinking of and did try UUID but didn't work so used the name.tag for now. UUID would get and root (hd1,4) . Will try further with UUID while testing getting it to work and figuring this out. unknowing guessing would this do it ? chainloader +1 /menu.lst or this chainloader (menu.lst) OK -FLAT non-growable also would be better for pagefile.sys when using OS that is located also on the same image. VHD I think are seen as SCSI HDD in Vmware. But it would be only one file which I like as is better than having two files for the same virtual image. Information of Goal: To Test using VMware with vitual HDDs to same layout of a physical PC and mounted HDDs. Physical HDDs mounted in PC layout as written above. When it works with Vmware then. I will copy what I did in Vmware and the same for real on a Physical PC. Goal: Bare Metal Boot with physical PC hardware without any virtual Vmware or other Virtual. The same as Boot from USB but instead same physical PC but using only Physical HDD's Bare Metal Boot is booting from a physical motherboard to an OS on HDD. Or to boot from disc to OS. Or from USB and so on. Without using a Virtual machine. Detail of a Boot: Using a currently in use Primary Active Windows XP3 OS HDD C: partition that has Grub4Dos boot files on it (grldr and menu.lst) and windows edited boot.ini. When boot the PC it goes to XP Boot menu using Boot.ini where is a Grub4Dos choice to select. When Grub4Dos is chosen it will look to the menu.lst on that same partition to know what to do next. Which is to search (find --set-root /name.tag) and set root where the name tag is found. There Grub4Dos will find a configfile menu.lst and invoke that and then on screen is shown contents of that menu.lst. When choose select a choice on the menu. The menu will load that image whatever it maybe. Also it can as a normal OS interact with other drives and read-write same as would be able when booted to an OS. My Grub4Dos knowledge isn't great at more a learning stage. So is the reason I have posted asking for help to do this. As I am stuck more at second menu.lst as what to put there. Such as run image of XP3 OS but for it not to interfere or know about the current XP3 OS that is on the initial boot drive the one I can select on the boot.ini with Grub4Dos boot files (grldr and menu.lst). Though by looks of it I may have more to learn along the way as you have found some things that don't make sense.
  2. Would be nice to know which each browser CPU type intended use SSE 1, SSE 2 or both
  3. Normally I can boot from USB that has all the Grub4Dos files and Images on it. Also it is able to boot from PC HDD C: partition using Boot.ini menu. I am trying now to setup using the boot.ini method to Bare Metal Boot images files Boot.ini > Grub4Dos > Image Files. Reason as have no need to use USB when at PC also get away from USB write Block wearing, also no more USB Needed. I am trying to do this first using Vmware to test if this is doable then later transfer to physical PC Vmware Both drives new - growable - Mounted to IDE 0:0 and IDE 0:1 Virtual vmdk drives (made with Partition Master CD in Vmware all other partition tools I tried failed to boot a new vmdk drive). Partition Details (hd0,0) Primary NTFS 4k Active (hd1,4) Logical NTFS 4k unknown why (hd1,4) always is seen as (hd1,4) (hd0,0) boots to boot.ini when select Grub4Dos then passes over to (hd1,4) menu.lst and lists that. Drive Contents (hd0,0) ntldr (copied from physical PC XP3 OS) ntdetect.com (copied from physical PC XP3 OS) boot.ini (copied from physical PC XP3 OS) grldr menu.lst boot.ini #Contents [boot loader] timeout=480 default=c:\grldr [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect c:\grldr="Grub4Dos" Menu.lst #Contents find --set-root /Name.tag configfile /menu.lst chainloader +1 commadline (hd1,4) #Contents all files from the Grub4Dos 0.4.6a-2022-01-18.7z archive , except grldr which is on (hd0,0) does this file also need to be on (hd1,4) name.tag minixp.vmdk or .img (image type decision needed) With testing MiniXP-Flat.vmdk converted with Starwind V2V image conveter to minixp.vmdk and also to minixp.img both growable are bootable with Qemu Also minixp.vmdk in a new Vmware project Would the image file for XP3 OS that works in Virtual OS (which has been no snapshots that is normally run in Vmware as an Independant NonPersistant Drive). Of course when run with in Grub4Dos would be read-write and if need can either make read-only from the image or read-only from Grub4Dos if when needed. What is the best image file for long term use and most stable a Vmware single growable vmdk image file without descriptor (the descriptor inside with growable drives). Or Vmware -FLAT non-growable drive. Or would converting with Starwind V2V Image Converter to raw img or bin file be better. I would like to boot to the Virtual XP3 OS and be seen and be used same as would physical PC XP3 OS on drive C. But also to totally ignore physical PC XP3 Drive Partition C while in use. No software or other able to communicate with it. If it is needed I can always reboot and go to it that way. Physical PC Basic Disks - All (PATA) (IDE) (NTFS 4k) Disk 0 Location 0 (0) Volumes C and E Disk 1 Location 0 (0) Volume D Disk 2 Bus Number 0, Target ID 0, LUN 0 (IDE Controller) Volume F Disk 3 Location 0 USB Removable Flash Drive (NTFS 4k) Volume J Disk 4 Location 0 USB Removable Flash Drive (Usually NTFS 4k - ATM it is FAT32) Volume G Other USB Volumes Take H and I possibly or are DVD drives internal and external which are not installed at the moment. Drives in Vmware are just two for testing.I can if needed make more virtual drives so emulate the above physical pc if needed. #1 Virtual image type would best for Grub4Dos Virtual OS XP3 use #2 Commands the the menu.lst needed to do this. #3 Commands in the menu.lst would be better if instead of [ find --set-root=/filename ] actually target exact hdd drive and image in case of files with the same name on any other drives.
  4. Error 987a9b5c This error comes down to CD-DVD-BD optical drive that is no longer able to write to disc can be any type of disc but not necessarily all discs. I could still write to CD but not DVD or BD. Why have such a cryptic error message that no one not on the NET can be found what the reason the error is for. Would be better served with error message that tells us what the problem is instead. For a while I could bypass the error nut ha to use other software to do so. using ImgBurn to write complete image ISO but for BD that is of no use when need to session burn ImgBurn will finalize the disc so no more data can be append data which ever way you write it image ISO or file build mode. In the end even ImgBurn started to report errors unable to verify first sectors of a new written disc. I could see the problem on write where it skipped writing first few sectors with error retry. Also test didn't work so unable to test that way to tell or test further instead wasting of discs. I don't normally use ImgBurn not for long time because it cannot do session burning. That is continue with a new session later to add more data. I'm not promoting ImgBurn either he never supported multi session disc writing which I guess would be the reason the development may have stopped as BD had been implemented and so next thing would have been for ImgBurn to be capable of multi session data writing BD discs. I tried many softwares including the evil Nero (never used since v6 where it wrote to internal firmware and broke all new drives that they shipped with Nero v6.something). I did so as was using a backup one HDD and the disc burner only. All other softwares also failed, there are many disgusting softwares out there and not many apart from one that is of any use. I won't promote as said software may go payware or otherwise. Most burning have issue not able to load session correctly of discs burnt by other softwares. Or able to load but not show. Or ability to edit any previous session even to rename any files. Many have nasty one pane layout not left folder tree and right contents of the folder and files within the folder listed there. Nearly all cannot verify the session just written only. Some will verify whole disc, many just verify some files not necessarily the newest files. Some even don't verify anything even if selected t do so. All tools I tried were small size (as possible) the non bloated types all windows freeware ones, that work with Windows XP. This written with hope that next time I have the same error and of course have forgotten about it. I can search the NET and with hope this post has by then propagated and will be easy to find when search for the error number 987a9b5c Thanks for your help the broken drive has been replaced. Back to (multi sessions) optical BD disc data storage writing, working fine with no more disc issues as written above. When restored again backup windows returned to normal. Have gathered more recent files and since have gone back to a previous older backup before the error started, Just in case the more recent system still has registry changes so not to affect the current drive (if can happen). Hope this error helps others to know what the real issue is for error 987a9b5c. As of now I cannot find and there is no mention of this error saying it is a broken drive on internet search engines.
  5. Go to this site http://www.carrona.org/ Maybe use this page http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html or others pages there. Use your browser search for the BSOD code, to see what is causing the BSOD.
  6. Thanks I'll try ERUNT never come across it before. I dd compare the old registry hives with repaired hives but nothing so easy to see could I see to say what the problem was. After the XP3 CD Repair-Update thankfully fixed the problem CD-Drive remains the CD-Drive with any disc inserted. Nearly all services remained as is only M$ updates and the two Wi-Fi entries I think were the ones that defaulted their settings back. The issue came about with trying many DVD Burning softwares to get one that can do basic session writing with ISO+UDF the usual Free Burning softwares are all rubbish and the one I was using AnyBurn has time bombed and the developer seems to be no longer. Time Bombed in that all versions made I have tried so far all give an error before burning and many disc have been destroyed for that where it has written something a few k and then stopped with the same error. Looks like I will have to seek out old DVD drive discs for Nero which I stopped using when Nero 6 that came with one new drive broke the drive and so also the shops were saying all other drives with the same Nero version at the time. My next drive I bought then was v7 which I I have searched and see no problem was with that or other since then. Have a new OS backup will next try that and hope the drive doesn't get broken by using it. Nero Burning Rom only that is not the bloated the rubbish they have since I think maybe v9 or v11. Why is there so many burning softwares that are useless. It is a Great Shame that LightningUK didn't continue ImgBurn or maybe he stopped because he knew everyone would be needing session writing as discs had by then already got larger 25GB. And for some reason he disliked session writing even the most basic session writing. Or maybe that he could not code for session writing ability into ImgBurn for DVD and 25GB and greater discs. If he had f done it would the only software I'm sure we would be all using for disc burning.
  7. Safe Mode Early Start - No Problem Will Try remove software to find the problem (hit and miss if registry entry it made/changed isn't changed back or deleted). That said this way could take a long time. And maybe could fail even if have some software tracked with an uninstall software. First I will since have a recent backup of the system will try XP Install CD repair mode (second repair option). Just prepping the system that is exporting the Services settings so able to manually restore them when system is repaired. They can be exported but no ability to import them. I can not remember what else gets changed, will see soon. If only there was a free reliable that is able to 100% restore always without fail every time an easy GUI to backup the registry hives and restore them. I have tried Hirens and others but they are all awkward not straight forward as a selection list choose hives, with one button for backup and one button to restorer. That are written in code or script that doesn't rely on other code to be installed (.NET, Visual Basic, Python, Java, or others). But restore reliability is needed. Also be able to work without needing to rely on system restore which itself is not reliable. Checked again PC is clear of any SPTD or Patin Couffin drivers. I don't use them ever worst drivers I have ever encountered. Full or problems and even can BSODs system or even stop system from starting with BSODs also. Note to Developers: Many people once found these problems will from then avoid these drivers like a plague, so never will install or use software with them, unless guaranteed they won't be installed or even copied to the system at all during install. Better to have two installers one with and one without many other drivers that can be used instead. After thought; Do the repair mode then do a registry hives backup and compare them to what I have now maybe able to see the registry. Then if found restore backup and edit registry to fix the problem. If not found continue with repaired OS.
  8. The filters in use by the drive are Upper Filters - Redbook LowerFilters - Imapi Registry location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Enum\IDE\DVD-Drive\xxx No filters upper or lower at registry location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} No change after uninstalling the device and controller. I did this when first noticed the problem after checking the registry for upper and lower filters.
  9. After Windows XP is started and view inside 'My Computer' the DVD drive is seen as normal 'CD Drive' when I insert any data disc retail or other it then changes in 'my Computer' from 'CD Drive' to 'Local Disk' and then tray popup tells me running out of space on that drive. Unknown how this has happened but guess maybe someone has come across this issue before so ask what is the solution to fix it so stays always as 'CD Drive' as was previously. Tested the disc drive itself appears to be working correctly when load PC with MiniXP (boot from a Hirens CD image on USB). Tested also using a Debian live disc. The 'CD Drive' remained as 'CD Drive' with a disc inserted I'm assuming maybe some software may have changed the registry or I did and forgotten. Or a bad driver from some software maybe installed (less likely, but maybe) My C Drive Windows weekly backups don't go far enough back (1 months) to correct the problem. Any ideas to help fix this problem !
  10. BTW Also I set the browser opening home page to about:blank which should be blank but has a moon logo on it. How do I remove the moon logo so the home page is blank.
  11. Security Issue Newmoon - Palemoon Win32 SSE https://o.rthost.win/palemoon/palemoon-28.10.3a1.win32-git-20210220-729367b92-uxp-2b6effbf2-xpmod-sse.7z Browser is always set for no cache = 0 After using version above on a commerce site I find after closing this browser In I find in C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Temp these files both of the same size. Each having E-Commerce details including login and email and transactions all security related all should never happen. Not even ever a temporarily file ever to be made which can be recovered by many means inc file recover means. Please fix. 980 KB (1,004,024 bytes) clipboardcache clipboardcache-1 I cannot post these files for the same security reasons. We need a fix since most all web sites now need this browser to view sites.
  12. 32bit SSE https://o.rths.ml/palemoon/palemoon-27.9.7.win32-git-20200201-6a75a56f2-xpmod-sse.7z Palemoon Help Shows Version: 27.9.7 (32-bit) (2020-02-01) Problems Google Captcha v3 (doesn't work with v3 captcha) I think it is v3 well the latest one that mega.nz uses to get register a free 50GB account. Google drive if can take a look seems to hangs a lot cpu maxing out also never used to do that. Googledrives the ones are public without needing login. I notice also listed on your site for awhile now Palemoon-28.9.0a1 for xp but not for sse-xp. Is the same version branch planned or in the works for sse-xp is there ETA release date or month. For now would be happy to have the browser work with the problems written above for Google Captcha that mega.nz is uses and for Googledrive. BTW the browser each version still crashes on nearly every close 90% of the time. No debug no bug report to follow. As I guess you are aware of the bugs as each version code will have been tested with Newmoon - Palemoon and other browsers.
  13. Does using exFAT improve this over FAT32 or even maybe improve the read, write speed over NTFS
  14. Just noticed if makes a difference the report windows are the wrong way round, swap them for which window appears first. [First Debug Window] = [Second Debug Window] [Second Debug Window] = [First Debug Window] Not that it this info is needed maybe! Posted just in case it does.

  16. Is the TRIM and overprovisioning also relevant for Flash Drives as it is for SSD ? For Flash Disk I will boot Live CD_DVD that has or boots to Mini Windows 7 (circa 2015 or greater). Mini Windows 7 loaded format the Flash Disk with NTFS 4k clusters (default). Use the disk as normal deleting files as normal set not to use the recycle bin. Every now and then boot to same Live CD_DVD with Mini Windows 7 and let it sit there for 15 minutes or so. Does any Live CD_DVD that has or boots to mini Windows 7 actually have the TRIM feature so able to housekeep the deleted files correctly. I have also been booting to Knoppix 7.2 (I think this is not warez) to do the same just in case no Live CD_DVD with mini Windows 7 doesn't actually do any TRIM at all. I have been doing this for a few years now for all the Flash Drives I have. Until today reading this forum didn't know about overprovisioning or the need for it. It does make sense for a XP OS partition XP, a PageFile partition and a partition for overprovisioning. But to have it 10% or 20% seems far to large maybe 1GB I would think would suffice. That said I haven't located or read the Samsung overprovisioning white paper yet.

' Thanks for finding this problem I have used the option to suppress forever this and all further similar messages. I'm able to use the Newmoon browser again. The PDB files if you feel debug output more than I have posted that these may give sure I can do that for you if your still not seeing this bug. PDB need only be on sever until I have them I can post here when I have them downloaded. or a Free file sever that doesn't need google captcha to download the PDB files. Let me know either way here as what you decide.
  19. Re Goanna browser you mentioned I have seen this listed many times on your blog. But never choose as I always assumed it wouldn't work with the SSE CPU I have. Have had a look at http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?19,148500 there I have noticed the vital questions asked. What OS and CPU requirements for the browser. Many Windows OS versions old and new. For any CPU that works with the many Windows OS versions old and new (MMX to newer CPUs) With this information have KM76.2-Goanna-20190824.7z to try. For online video playback with lav filters that also listed (lav filters drop into the browser to use them). Like you one browser for normal browsing and one now hopefully for video if the pc is up to it.
  20. Picture of the Noscript buttons that appeared with more recent NewMoon builds. These buttons appear a few seconds after NewMoon opens. Reverted to test back backup that is a vanilla XP3 install same with that also. Maybe a noscript timebomb! but that doesn't seem something the NoScript developer would consider doing. Will restor the vanilla XP3 fresh install backup test again. This time select the disable button to see if will disable. More over to see about:config changes by compare the NewMoon files. The NewMoon crash when close NewMoon also happens for the same browsers as above with a test a vanilla fresh XP3 install restored from a backup image. That crash doesn't happen with every browser close but enough to notice, I guess makes these kind of crashes harder for developers to detect. That said If you have some PDB debug files for NewMoon SSE browser I could use those maybe Dr.Mingw will produce more detailed crash reports. NS Buttons NM27.9.6.7z

With Newer Build 24-Aug-2019 (palemoon-27.9.6.win32-git-20190824-c106e1d83-xpmod-sse.7z) there is a further new issue that is not welcome at all. Something I don't need to see or be forced to view or accept via buttons. It's akin to the cookie button where we already have accepted the cookie since we cannot login with a cookie. I accepted NoScript or any other addon may affect speed when install them. Never needed to be told or reminded about that. More over not forced to view this fact forever, which won't happen will go back to older version and stay with it until it changes. If it doesn't so be it get a different browser. Noscript might be making New Moon run slowly [Disable NoScript] [Ignore for now] [Ignore permanently] <<< This useless warning that we are forced to view always is invasion of my browser space and totally irreverent and unneeded. Don't make it further background bloat by only hiding it. This needs to be removed from the browser forever.
  22. Actualy since i have two or more uniextractor version running. I would welcome also as with post above but with title [example 'UniExtract v1.61'] seperate for each version i have installed. Easy then to right mouse button select and mouse over for each UniExtract option available.
  23. Can someone who is able to download the latest version from there.. Post them here for us to use also. English version please, say this as i see ui has changed a bit, looking forward to using them. Post as many and as often as you can not only keeps this forum section alive, but also means nitro will be following and maybe join in again at some point. Dare we say even a collobaration may occur bringing the two together. Also do please suggest to Gora to name the packages unofficial version. Like was done previously when someone did previously which Nitro was ok with as long as it was renamed. The one in the thread mentioned has __s2__ is not the same as naming it as 'unofficial version' which makes it clear what it is. Actualy it would better Not doing so could well pee of Nitro and that is something i' sure none of us would want to do. He never said no last time and i think he does welcome other input as long as is renamed. Not the first time Nitro has gone quiet and i doubt won't be the last. If need to contact Nitro you could email or visit his forum here http://legroom.net/forum. Also anyone recently compiled a new UserDB.txt should be 5mb or more by now. Known that Bob has run away from the peid project for whatever reason he had. But even on his pages are no new UserDB.txt updates. Do hope he is putting his time now to better things such as writing unpack database for antivirus and other such softwares to use, for years we have need that. Since what they know now and for many years is sod all, reason many of have need to unpack files with universal extractor. Besides seeing what is inside before instaling, like useless bho's, toolbars, spy dlls, advertise dlls and rest of the rubbish that installers can hide.
  24. Are you still developing any new version soon ? Is there a beta groups (count me in) or any new beta test releases ? What new unpackers expected in newer release when its available ?
  25. Had a look at a few Hiren cd as they say they better ones were the earlier ones. Actualy most of them as same tools and nothing specail on all of them, said earlier ones had mor to offer! Anyway i did like the minixp and a thought why not install to vm thin it down and then put to usb. Though i don't know how would cut down on the omph been installed unless edit xp installer or nlite it some way. Came looking for a script ui to just do this for windows xp and only found vista 7 one linked above. Not wanting to do a bart or simialr just something simple. A ui which knows all on xp with sp3 cd and user able to select and deselt. Maybe even with help explanations for what would be removed. Such as IE - internal xp internet explorer etc.. Anyone seen something like this ? As said could do with vm, but it would be after xp install and that would be the wrong way. Or maybe my mind is turned of today and cannot think what actualy is need if so excuse for my mind having a rest day. Maybe you help it to restart wth some ideas for this Edit: Actualy just having a look at nlite again after some years. Seems it really has come along way since early days. Doing this with nlite alone maybe the easiest way to make minixp, don't know how much it can slim down, but who would want to use a featurless os. When usb flash drives are big enough toeven hold full xp (or vista if it is your os liking). Anyway will have a look at nlite for now and see how it goes, really just need to get rid of ms useless software such as messenger talk thing and others, which xp unistal never does get rid of cleanly. Maybe even IE but think xp relies on that for many things even explorer needs it so i read long ago.
