  2. This has to do with the Security Rollup 1. See here. interesting - I had none of that and I didn't have that hotfix missing?!
  3. So do I add the DX_Upd.EXE /Q:A /R:N line and remove the Q839643.EXE /Q /O /N /Z line? Also - what is "Q832483.exe /C:""dahotfix.exe /q /n"" /q:a" about?? yet another question - I don't have this in my INF file - please explain? [ProductCatalogsToInstall] KB826939.cat
  4. Also - you could use the $OEM$\DOCS folder and add them to the default user folder. I forget the exact folder - but I've added them there. Also a simple self extracting EXE. I believe it can also be added to the answer file.
  5. InstallRite - faster - quietier - easy
  6. beats me. If you don't get the results you want - use InstallRite.
  7. edit as you see fit - install k-lite codec pack 2.25 on your computer using the command line switch /SAVEINF="%SYSTEMDRIVE%\install.inf" copy the inf file to the install directory for your XP cd. and then when you want to silent install use /SILENT /SP- /LOADINF="install.inf"
  8. edit - did a custom and skipped the audio/video
  9. how did you get it so small? I did a standard install thru InstallRite and it was 92mb - down from 112mb. I've got Money 2004 Deluxe.
  10. 11. it is possible Get the latest defs from here - http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcen...s.download.html Then there is a folder in the install called \VIRUSDEF just download the latest defs and extract to this folder. It will use these files when it installs. You'll need to constantly keep these files up to date.
  12. CurrentControlSet - but I'd import all three just to be sure.
  13. more info please - what kind of boot disk? Just a basic old fashion one? or the XP boot disks? I assume that a normal bootdisk just to get to a DOS prompt is all that is needed. Making sure to load the SMARTDRV driver too?! Calling Winnt.exe - at the CMD prompt - just type WINNT? what about the apps and drive letters - I suppose the %CDROM% variables I use would work the same as it would look for the drive with the CD. IF EXIST D:\CD.id set CDROM=D: IF EXIST E:\CD.id set CDROM=E: ......
  14. find the registry settings that contain the entiries you need to change and make the change with a reg file. Take a snapshot before making changes and after to see what changed/where. Maybe its an INI file and not a registry setting. So look for that too. If not in registry, set PC's date ahead a year make the change and then find the file with the new modified date. WwTIPPYwW
  15. with the addition of the shortcuts, the registry settings for uninstall and stuff - InstallRite might make it easier to do. Especially if using the $OEM$ folders requires manually adding the links/files. I'll mess with it. Once it is setup, it is good to go, no real manipulation after the first go around. I'll see which is faster. Soon I intend to convert my XP cd into a DVD, so I've got a lot more space for additional apps.
  16. OK - I've not tested this - but to silently install Trillian - I just need to copy the files to the appropriate directory? I'm thinking InstallRite might make this easier!
  17. also - need to modify the HKCU names - it wants to use [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1087754377-1659007503-682703730-4705\ instead of [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\
  18. URL fixed - too many "w" http://www.911cd.net
  19. don't use start /wait just send the command: REG ADD %KEY%\005 /VE /D "Ad-Aware v6.181 " /f REG ADD %KEY%\005 /V 1 /D "%CDROM%\Software\Ad-Aware v6.1.8.1.exe\" /s" /f I don't know the switches however. K-Lite Codec package - instructions for that are on the forum.
  20. I had to use InstallRite to do it.
  21. at a CMD prompt type SET to see all the variables you can use.
  22. as for the auto logon - it is possible. Are you doing an XP or 2000 install? i think you just need to add the auto logon registry settings. Or something.
  23. maybe it is just in the current user's profile - try del "%usersprofile%\start menu\programs\Divx" plus - del is for files - try RD for remove directory C:\>rd /? Removes (deletes) a directory. RMDIR [/S] [/Q] [drive:]path RD [/S] [/Q] [drive:]path /S Removes all directories and files in the specified directory in addition to the directory itself. Used to remove a directory tree. /Q Quiet mode, do not ask if ok to remove a directory tree with /S
