  1. it was not necesary, much like most all other posts on the board. It was just an easy way to show others what to do. And the unattended site doesn't explain how to do the other programs, so those that didn't know to do it, wouldn't do it.
  2. To consolodate some links into one posting... It is possible to add SP1 to all of the Office 2003 Products. I used this guide as my model: http://www.unattended.msfn.org/xp/office2003_advanced.htm Also - look here http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=23069 http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/updates/2003/default.htm ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First Off - Create Administrative Installs Use the guide above for assistance. But for each program, run its corresponding setup.exe with the /a switch. So I had to run the following commands from my AiO cd (d:\): d:\office\setup.exe /a d:\frontpage\setup.exe /a d:\onenote\setup.exe /a d:\project\setup.exe /a d:\visio\setup.exe /a I installed to the following folders: c:\OFFICE2003sp1\office c:\OFFICE2003sp1\frontpage c:\OFFICE2003sp1\onenote c:\OFFICE2003sp1\project c:\OFFICE2003sp1\visio ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Next - DOWNLOAD ALL THE PATCHES - Get the Full/Administrative Installers Office http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/a/9/1a9a2039-70e3-4e92-b977-756fe884f731/Office2003SP1-kb842532-fullfile-enu.exe OneNote http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/2/9/1298828f-4cad-4f33-af2f-204362254d7a/OneNote2003SP1-kb842774-fullfile-enu.exe Project http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/d/6/9d612778-3737-4aec-b745-564348cae2e7/Project2003-KB837240-FullFile-ENU.exe Visio http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/1/8/a184f190-01b8-47b9-a04f-e06c129fa812/Visio2003-KB840663-FullFile-ENU.EXE Outlook 2003 Junk E-mail Filter Update: KB870765 http://download.microsoft.com/download/8/6/c/86cadd9d-0995-45e1-b1b6-05f0cb8a7ee2/office2003-kb870765-fullfile-enu.exe ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Next - EXTRACT ALL THE PATCHES From a CMD line run the following to extract the files for all your SP1 patches. Run it from where the patches are located. Office2003SP1-kb842532-fullfile-enu.exe /Q /C /T:C:\SP1office OneNote2003SP1-kb842774-fullfile-enu.exe /Q /C /T:C:\SP1onenote Project2003-KB837240-FullFile-ENU.exe /Q /C /T:C:\SP1project Visio2003-KB840663-FullFile-ENU.EXE /Q /C /T:C:\SP1visio office2003-kb870765-fullfile-enu.exe /Q /C /T:C:\SP1officePatch ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Next - APPLY THE SERVICE PACKS From a CMD line run the following to install the service packs and patches. Office msiexec /p C:\SP1office\MAINSP1ff.msp /a C:\OFFICE2003sp1\Office\PRO11.msi /qb msiexec /p C:\SP1office\OWC11SP1ff.msp /a C:\OFFICE2003sp1\Office\OWC11.MSI /qb FrontPage msiexec /p C:\SP1office\MAINSP1ff.msp /a C:\OFFICE2003sp1\Frontpage\FP11.MSI /qb msiexec /p C:\SP1office\OWC11SP1ff.msp /a C:\OFFICE2003sp1\Frontpage\OWC11.MSI /qb OneNote msiexec /p C:\SP1onenote\ONENOTESP1ff.msp /a C:\OFFICE2003sp1\OneNote\ONOTE11.MSI /qb Project msiexec /p C:\SP1project\Project2003-KB837240-FullFile-ENU.msp /a C:\OFFICE2003sp1\Project\PRJPROE.MSI /qb msiexec /p C:\SP1office\OWC11SP1ff.msp /a C:\OFFICE2003sp1\Project\OWC11.MSI /qb Visio msiexec /p C:\SP1visio\Visio2003-KB8406630-FullFile-ENU.msp /a C:\OFFICE2003sp1\Visio\VISPRO.MSI /qb Outlook 2003 Junk E-mail Filter Update: KB870765 msiexec /p C:\SP1officePatch\OUTLFLTR.msp /a C:\OFFICE2003sp1\Office\PRO11.msi /qb ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Next - MAKE A CD/DVD The program is too big for one cd, so you'll need to either make a DVD or make several cds. All 5 CD's after slipsteamed with SP1 are 1.70 GB (1,832,327,168 bytes) Office 2003 SP1 - 637 MB FrontPage 2003 SP1 - 360 MB OneNote 2003 SP1 - 147 MB Project 2003 SP1 - 225 MB Visio 2003 SP1 - 376 MB After using cdimage.exe to make an ISO, the CD is 907MBs. Command to make a cdimage - optimized ISO: cdimage.exe -lOFFICE2003 -h -n -m -o c:\OFFICE2003sp1 c:\office2003.iso ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finally - CLEAN UP Delete all the SP1 files and folders. Once you've verified your cds or DVDs, delete the administrative install folders (c:\OFFICE2003sp1) -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  3. follow the instructions for Office and do it for Frontpage, OneNote, Project, & Visio. you can use the Office SP1 patch for FrontPage. some of the installs - Frontpage & Project need to patches. One for the program and the second one for the Web Components (Which is part of the Office SP patch).
  4. yes - but a 900mb ISO = a DVD. Or you can create the individual ISOs. Or you can cram Office + Frontpage on one CD and the rest on a second (will need to optimize to make it fit (and I assume it will)
  5. guess the question is does 1 DVD of Office 2003 SP1 AiO = 2 cds (one of Office 2003 AiO + one of SP1 Patches) or 1 DVD of Office 2003 SP1 AiO = 2 cds (one of Office & Frontpage 2003 SP1 + one of OneNote, Project, Visio 2003 SP1)
  6. also - you can use the Office SP1 patch to get FrontPage updated. In addition to the Office, OneNote, and Visio SP1 patch - there is a Project SP1 patch.
  7. i was able to slipstream SP1 into the AIO, by going into the individual folders and running setup.exe /a Then you follow the steps in the URL above, modifying it for the different files. Some programs you have to do twice, once for the prog and another for the web components (OWC11.MSI). Just follow the guide above, and point the correct files to the right folders. Not too difficult, just took some time. Only problem - the cdimage afterwards is too big for an AIO after doing it all. The cd is now like 980mbs, compressed.
  8. if you haven't made a SP1 cd, wait a couple weeks and SP2 will be out. Then just make a SP2 cd.
  9. I think he wants to change drive letters as part of an install.... you'll have to manually do it separate of the InstallRite install.

  12. the saving of space costs extra time in extraction and copying to hard drive. Your suggestion is good, but there is a cost to creating SFX files.
  13. is your key in your file, and just edited out for the posting? Or did you forget to put that in the file?
  14. Greg - your experience is not typical of many users of InstallRite. It is free, maybe they ask for some $$, but who wouldn't? If you have difficulty getting another program to work the way you want - I urge you to try InstallRite a second time. It really works and makes a nice custom installer package.
  15. Try creating custom installers with InstallRite (google the URL). It is a free snapshot/custom installer - pretty good tool.
  16. check your path statement if you didn't run CMD from system32
  17. check the language settings for your XP install? It looks like the DLL is associated to internation versions/languages. http://www.microsoft.com/msj/1198/multilang/multilang.aspx http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF8...TF8&q=USP10.dll
  18. try a base install w/o extra apps. try an install with just hotfixes. then try the whole thing. Or start over - making sure all steps are followed.
  19. you can add it to the WINNT.sif before install, if on floppy. Which would sort of be on the fly. Otherwise, you might just have to do it post install. What if instead of leaving the 'Computername=' empty, you removed it? Maybe some help here - http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/reference.htm
  20. also, post the WINNT.sif file quote from http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/winnt_sif.htm
  21. the Win2k version of REG is different the the XP version. So the command syntax is not the same.
