  1. If you care to browse through the various options for Internet Explorer you will see that it's required location varies, short answer: IE7 requires that it be at Run1, with IE8 & IE6 it can be integrated (actually svcpack), though of course they can also have it at Run1.

SHA-1: 563B96A3D78D6038D10428F23954F083320B4019 Other Changes 1. Changed the default IE8 install method to 5eraph's vanilla IE8 addon (as this allows one to use the easily modified tweaks), silent install of the original Microsoft installer will continue to be supported. 2. Added details for IE6 and WMP10 3. Added torent for users of 5eraph's pack 4. Changed from eSnips to MediaFire for hosting (one can only take so many upload failures). 5. Added Adobe Shockwave (via 3rd party link) and UltraGet video downloader to the supported files list. 6. Kelsenellenelvian has put out a nice control panel bonus pack
  3. There are drivers available, you can get them here.
  4. Blizz: Link fixed babudeoha and _other_: Might I ask you two to PM each other with a list of possibly interfering software that you have installed, particularly security software and/or anything to do with the optical drives (burning programs / drivers / emulators). Something is causing the process to fail and as most users remain unaffected it seems likely that a common program on your systems is the culprit.
  5. Run2 is just my way of scripting XP x64 installs, it's not a standard part of nLite. All that matters is that .Net 2.0 has been installed (by whatever means) before you install the Catalyst Control Center.
  6. Other: Something is causing those hotfixes that are normally run from SVCPACK at T-13 to fail, some things know to cause this include: 1. Running nLite as a limited user (rather than as an administrator) 2. Running the WMP11 slipstreamer after nLite (rather than before). Also try disabling any anti-virus while running nLite.
  7. You can slipsteam the driver and then install the catalyst control center later, see this topic (posts 2 & 4).
  8. You could just create a batch file and call it from nLite's RunOnce section, the one I use is attached. MenuReorg.bat.txt
  9. Meowing, I think I'll just leave it unsupported for now. I just don't feel comfortable with adding a direct link to a version that would normally require one to agree to a redistribution license. Yes, I know I have a few other direct download links in the guide but they are to versions that are freely available without such precondition.
  10. With 5eraph MIA and as a hotfix reordering will be necessary (ran out of numbers) there will be some changes to the format of the download lists come September. This post should be taken as a preview, I've attached the updated batch files but if you do use them, backup your hotfix directory first as they are likely to change. Note that I haven't bothered to purge this post or the files for this specific forum. Also Kelsenellenelvian has put out a nice little x64 CPL bonus pack. ==================================================================================================== Preview removed now that main post has been updated.
  11. Silverblade: You won't find a similar Config_XP-64_date.zip for your OS as (to the best of my knowledge) nobody has written one. The purpose of the zipped folder is implied by its name, it sets the required configuration for using this guide. The batch files install those items not supported for direct integration by nLite. If you seek to understand how this works I'd suggest tracking down an Windows 2000 install CD and have a go at using the similar guide for W2K. That guide has more detailed descriptions of how the process actually works (and be sure to check out the screenshots).
  12. SilverBlade: This guide is designed for 64-bit XP which, despite the similarity in name, is from a different code base (Server 2003) than standard 32-bit XP. Simply put, while most of the concepts and methods of execution used in this guide are also applicable to 32-bit XP, the update files required are completely different.

Added support for the following applications: Adobe Reader patches (these also work with AR lite) Tool Tip Fixer uTorrent BOINC Screensaver 4. Removed support (remarked out) for Adobe Shockwave, I swear that thing has a VM detector. It will install silently in VMware Server or VirtualBox but asks to install a toolbar when installing (using same image) on a real machine. 5. One of this month's hotfixes (KB973869) continually shows up on Windows Update even though according to add/remove programs it has been installed. If you have the same problem please notify Microsoft support. Johnhc: I most certainly know about KB973869, I've been on the phone to Microsoft technical support about it and it's the primary reason this month's update wasn't posted yesterday (I'm also having trouble with the eSnips upload service).
  15. It doesn't look like you've attached your full "Last Session.ini", in any case see this topic for an example of what you should see (especially posts 2 & 4).

  17. genu: It seems to work for me on a very basic test (I normally use Nero), maybe someone else can confirm this problem? mniceguy81: Yipe, you certainly took a chainsaw to the OS. Considering that errors start appearing at T-13 my best guess is that one of the addons you are using is responsible: F:\New Project\Downloads\5er_MSSignedThemes_Addon_v6.1_x64.7z F:\New Project\Downloads\5er_WMPLyricsPlugin_v0.3_Addon_v2.1_x64.7z F:\New Project\Downloads\DriveSpace_v5.3.5.5_AddOn.7z F:\New Project\Downloads\Gorki_AddOn_JkDefragGUI_201008.cab F:\New Project\Downloads\CyberAddonCPU-Z1.52.7z F:\New Project\Downloads\CyberAddonGPU-Zv0.3.4.7z F:\New Project\Downloads\DaRkMaDnEsS_Tune_Up_Addon.7z F:\New Project\Downloads\Kels_Brushed_Inspirat_addon_v1.cab F:\New Project\Downloads\usb_disk_format_tool_addon.rar C:\Temp\Reapers_CCleaner_2.20.920_AddOn.7z Try dropping these first. If that's not the cause then the next thing to try is an iso without the component removals, don't put those addons back in, rather keep reverting ever closer to an unmodified install media. Once you think you have isolated the cause add everything but the suspected culprit back in for another test to confirm if it is in fact the source of the error as sometimes it can be a conflict between two or more items that are perfectly fine by themselves (speaking from tedious bug tracking experience here).
  18. You state that you haven't disabled autorun but start regedit and check: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom\Autorun If set to 0 auto insert notification has been disabled (VMware server does this by default).

One has to modify the Radeon video drivers .inf files in order for the card to be recognised, the easiest way being to use the D.H. Mobility Modder. Unfortunately this breaks WHQL signing so in order to force the video driver installation, one has to remove display adaptor support with nLite. Integrate the driver portion and install Catalyst Control Centre at Run2. Run1 %Source%AddOns\LaunchManager\Setup.exe /S /F2%Temp%\LaunchManagerSetup.log Run2 (requires .Net 2.0) %Source%AddOns\CCC\Setup.exe /S /F2%Temp%\CatalystControlCenterSetup.log On running as a limited user: One of the best ways to protect your system from malware is to run as a limited user, only switching to an administrator account for updates and installations. One of the major flaws of Windows is that running as a limited user can be a truly frustrating (limited even) experience. Apart from the usual problems associated with running as a limited user, on the AA-5024WLMi none of the hotkeys work, most importantly the wireless button. After a fair degree of trial and error I’ve managed to get my laptop to behave with limited privileges and now I’ll tell you how to do it too. 1. You need to set up 2 accounts, one will be your Admin account and one your User account (both as Administrators for now). 2. Run “msconfig”, on the startup tab, deselect “WButton”. Exit and reboot. 3. In your Admin account add a shortcut to “WButton” (found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Launch Manager\) to the start menu startup folder. 4. In your User account add three shortcuts, “HotkeyApp”, “OSDCtrl” and “WButton”, in that order, to the startup folder. 5. Right click each of the User startup shortcuts and select properties. Under Shortcut\Advanced select “Run with Different Credentials” 6. Set passwords (at least on the Admin account) and set the User account to limited. You can now log off and log back on to your limited account. You will get one failure message and be presented with 3 “Run As” boxes. On each select to “Run as Admin” and enter your password. You should now have full functionality and the protection that comes with a limited account. AutoIt: You can avoid the annoyance of the error message and the 3 "Run As" boxes by using the AutoIt script shown below (skip steps 4 & 5 above). WinWait ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Launch Manager\HotkeyApp.exe") WinActivate ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Launch Manager\HotkeyApp.exe") ControlClick ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Launch Manager\HotkeyApp.exe", "", "[CLASS:Button; TEXT:OK]") Sleep (20000) RunAs ("Administrator", "ComputerName", "Password", 0, "HotkeyApp.exe") Sleep (5000) RunAs ("Administrator", "ComputerName", "Password", 0, "OSDCtrl.exe") Sleep (5000) RunAs ("Administrator", "ComputerName", "Password", 0, "WButton.exe") Replace ComputerName and Password with the appropriate values for your system (if running 32-bit windows change all occurances of "\Program Files (x86)\" to "\Program Files\"). Compile the script and place at "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Launch Manager" then add a shortcut to the compiled script to the startup folder of each limited user.
  21. Specs: HP Compaq B1201TU Links, notes, et al ====================================================================================================================================================== Compaq Presario B1200 series Windows XP Pro x64 installation report for December 2011 As always, the first thing I did was start searching for drivers: Compaq B1201TU Driver Downloads As you can see, there are some entries XP x64 but most of the drivers are missing, namely SATA-AHCI, Audio, Video, Quick-Launch, LAN, WLAN, Modem & Bluetooth. First I checked out the various manufacturer's sites and grabbed the following drivers: Intel ICH8M Chipset drivers Intel F6 AHCI driver (last version to work on ICH8M) Intel Matrix Storage Manager (optional, last version to work on ICH8M) Intel Mobile 965 Express Video driver Intel 4965AG Wireless LAN driver Broadcom BCM5787M Ethernet driver Synaptics Touchpad driver . older version An extensive search of the H.P. support site revealed that only 18 models have full driver support for XP x64. Further searches of the H.P. support site by driver name gave me the latest versions of the other drivers I needed: ADI SoundMAX Audio Drivers H.P. Quick Launch Buttons H.P. Wireless Assistant H.P./Broadcom Bluetooth Drivers Agere/LSI HDA Modem Drivers I used nLite to create a fully up to date install DVD: HOW TO create a fully up to date XP x64 DVD (please read the Intel SATA AHCI driver install topic) I extracted all the drivers I downloaded (7-Zip is good for this), deleted any folder named x32 or similar and then integrated them with nLite. The relevant sections of my nLite last session file and the two batch files used for installation of applications are pasted below. I then burnt the DVD and proceeded to install Windows XP x64. Important: You must have enabled the Bluetooth device before installing XP x64 or the process will halt and ask you to activate it via the HP wireless assistant, once that is done Windows finds the device and happily installs it. You also will have to extract and place at \AddOns the Quick-Launch, Wireless-Assistant and Bluetooth driver installation folders. The Webcam is treated as a standard USB camera under both XP x32 and XP x64, but in XP x64 it doesn't show up in Windows Explorer (My Computer panel). Not sure why, still works fine though, I tested it with both Nero 6 and Skype. Also keep in mind that Conexant took over marketing ADI's audio chipsets from Dec 2008 and LSI absorbed Agere (modems) in Apr 2007. I've attached an incomplete Open Office spreadsheet of the drivers for these models that I did up while researching the latest drivers for my Compaq Presario B1201TU laptop. If you're after ADI SoundMAX HD (not Digital HD or AD1984A) drivers, try this one, it's the latest that matches my laptop. HP_XP-64_Drivers_Nov2011.7z

My UPS came with PowerManagerII software, silent install switch shown, but you will have to add the file setup.iss to the install folder (Windows subdirectory renamed to PowerManagerII below), mine is attached but you'll need to edit it adding your own serial key. ATI CCC 9-10 & earlier: For ATI graphics cards integrate the driver with nLite and install the Catalyst Control Center silently at Run2. I use the older 8.12 version as I find that full screen video on the secondary display (TV) is unreliable with the later versions. 23. As nobody can test all possible combinations of hardware this topic has been created to list those drivers and especially full systems (laptops) people have successfully installed. This thread is primarily meant as auxiliary information for the XP x64 nLite guide. Posting Guidelines: 1. In order to keep this thread spam free, please do not post here with driver requests or questions, instead start a fresh topic. The MSFN Device Driver subforum or an external site such as Planet AMD64 would be a better place for such enquires. 2. One post per system and one system per post, give appropriate system specifications. 3. Where possible provide links to driver downloads. 4. Paste the drivers section of your nLite "Last Session.ini" 5. If some driver type applications have to be silently installed, list them with the required switches. 6. If you don't use the latest version of a particular driver, state why not. 7. Finally, if there is any other useful information, by all means share it.
  24. KB886903 was replaced KB928366 as described in Security Bulletin MS07-040.
  25. Szarosmaci, everything after the header Installation is additional information for users who want to do more than just the basics. The section of the guide you quoted describes how the process works for those that are interested, you don't actually have to do anything with regard to it.
