  1. Running the 2K versions as silent installers rather than nLite AddOns appears (as far as I can tell) to work perfectly. Files seem to be the correct version and Windows Update is happy, I only fired up one .Net 2.0 dependant application for testing though. For .NET 2.0, the processing order is perhaps not optimal, but works fine: NetFx20SP2_x86.exe NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe NDP20SP2-KB971111-x86.exe Required for W2K NDP20SP2-KB974417-x86.exe
  2. Unfortunately the nLite AddOns don't work entries_DNF20SP2.ini [general] builddate=Wed description=.NET 2.0 SP2 passive installer language= title=.NET Framework(s) version: website=http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=127790 [EditFile] I386\SVCPACK.INF,SetupHotfixesToRun,AddProgram [AddProgram] DNF20SP2.exe Name of silent installer: 2KDNF20SP2.exe Same problem for .Net 1.1 sp1 I'll check the other aspects shortly.
  3. Yes, the archives are right, I'm still waiting for the Silent .Net maker to support the latest updates, still here are the changes for this month so far: Deletions: Hotfix\090-Windows2000-KB920685-x86-ENU.exe Hotfix\250-Windows2000-KB931784-x86-ENU.exe Hotfix\580-IE6.0sp1-KB938464-Windows2000-x86-ENU.exe Hotfix\890-Windows2000-KB973346-x86-ENU.exe Hotfix\892-IE6.0sp1-KB972260-Windows2000-x86-ENU.exe Hotfix\990-dotNET11sp1b.7z Additions: Hotfix\914-IE6.0sp1-KB974455-Windows2000-x86-ENU.exe 4,216,728 Hotfix\916-Windows2000-KB973525-x86-ENU.exe 495,344 Hotfix\918-WindowsMedia64-KB974112-x86-ENU.exe 598,920 Hotfix\920-IE6.0sp1-KB958869-Windows2000-x86-ENU.exe 1,551,240 Hotfix\922-Windows2000-KB975254-x86-ENU.exe 537,840 Hotfix\924-Windows2000-KB969059-x86-ENU.exe 1,049,336 Hotfix\926-Windows2000-KB971486-x86-ENU.exe 1,604,344 Hotfix\928-Windows2000-KB974571-x86-ENU.exe 513,264 RunOnce\Windows2000-WindowsMedia-KB954155-x86-ENU.exe 768,392 Part 4: .Net framework AddOns The .Net AddOns are not yet available, you'll have to use these files: The AddOns linked to in the downloads section was created using Tomcat76/Strel's script, they are used rather than the original Microsoft installers as they save 70.5MB on your install media (28.3 for 2.0, 42.2 for 1.1). 4. Just a mid term update to the batch files for the various new versions of the supported applications: Opera Firefox Seamonkey 2.0 K-Lite Mega Codec K-Lite 64-bit Daemon Tools Lite (added option for SPTD) AnyDVD CD Burner XP VMware Server VirtualBox (latest version seems OK with more than 1 virtual CPU) Boinc There is also a new version of the Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility View List, but I won't be updating the archives or torent just for that.

  7. I've just test downloaded w2ksp51.7z.001 from both sites, using a different PC than the one which has the account cookies (IE8 for Mediafire and Seamonkey 1.1.18 for eSnips), worked fine for me. Perhaps you should try a different browser or computer as it would appear that something (cookies, security software) is blocking your attempts currently. Yes RyanVM's tracker is down, apparently he is trying to diagnose server problems with the forums at the moment. Hopefully this month's update will be available over the weekend, the current hotfix archive has been uploaded but I'm still waiting for Silent .NET Maker synthesized to be updated so I can build the .Net installers.
  8. Well my test on Windows 2000 reveals (nLite addons, not merged): The .Net 1.1 framework appears to be processed correctly, although one does get warnings about missing KB928366 & KB947722. With .NET 2.0, Windows update declares that KB974417 has not been applied, also the processing order is perhaps not optimal: NetFx20SP2_x86.exe NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe NDP20SP2-KB971111-x86.exe Required for W2K NDP20SP2-KB974417-x86.exe Edit for cut & paste while half asleep.

WMP11\WindowsMedia11-KB954155-x64-ENU.exe 913,288 Other changes It would appear that Microsoft has decided to welcome 5eraph back with a record breaking month of updates. As noted above, the leftover .Net 3.5 setup folder is now cleaned up. 32-bit users of the guide need to move some hotfixes from \Hotfix to \RunOnce before attempting integration. 5eraph has released an updated version of the vanilla IE8 AddOn to address the Quick Launch issue, however if you are using this guide there is no need to upgrade as the exact same fix is used. I've moved to VirtualBox for my primary testing. Deleted the poll but it will return next month, as tastes change a reset is appropriate.
  11. You've chosen the wrong option under Nero, you need to pick "Disk image or saved project". To the best of my knowledge all Microsoft operating system install CDs from 98se on are bootable. As for the guide, you only need follow it up to the heading "Installation", everything after that is additional information for those who are interested.
  12. Here's a W2K guide. You should be able to install .Net 2.0 on Win98 via Windows Update.
  13. I sometimes get this too, though I haven't investigated what differences in procedure result in this error. When you hit those sections where your preset information is missing, you can reload the preset just for that section (click on the preset icon at the bottom of the windows).
  14. Probably not the most elegant way of doing it, but the following code finally gives the boot to that randomly named leftover .Net 3.5 setup folder: rem delete leftover .Net setup directory (requires SubInACL) Reg Export "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP Version 2003\SP3\KB954550-v7\Filelist\1" %Temp%\dotNet35folder.reg Type %Temp%\dotNet35folder.reg | Find "Location" > %Temp%\dotNet35folder.txt For /F %%N in (%Temp%\dotNet35folder.txt) do Set dN0=%%N Set dN1=%dN0:~0,-19% Set dNdrive=%dN1:~12,2% Set dNdirec=%dN1:~16% SubInACL /Subdirectories "%dNdrive%\%dNdirec%"\ /Grant=Everyone RmDir /S /Q %dNdrive%\%dNdirec% Del %Temp%\dotNet35folder.* Also added application install support for IrfanView.
  15. Updated Guide and Run1_XP-64.bat to deal with hotfixes not being set to execute from SVCpack when the process is run under x86 Windows. Genu: Yes I know about the SPTD update, but as the changelog indicates that the only modifications have been Win7 compatibility fixes, I don't see any need to add support for it into the batch files over the one that can be extracted from the actual daemon tools installer..
  16. It works with Standard Server.
  17. _Other_: I've done a few VM tests and I see what you mean, I suspect that it is the result of an x86 OS not being able to determine which x64 hotfixes cannot be integrated and instead must be executed at T-13. Try the following: 1. Run the process as normal (yes, you'll get errors) 2. At step 9 also copy the hotfix directory across 3. Use the updated attached Run1_XP-64.bat (remove the .txt extension) If it works I'll update the guide over the weekend.
  18. Genu: I did a test using your last session.ini, but the "show desktop" icon was there for me. 5eraph has indicated that he should be able to resume work on his update packs soon and that he will be implementing a separate fix for this issue, maybe that will work for you. I did however note that you have an erroneous hotfix in your list, "120-WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB956744-x64-ENU.exe" is only for users of 5eraph's update pack, those using the original Microsoft hotfixes need to place "WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB956744-x64-ENU.exe" at RunOnce. _other_: This guide should still work without such problems on a x86 machine, I tested it a couple of times on a horrible old klunker of a Win 2000 box when I was confirming that SP2 could be integrated using the files from 2K3 x86 SP2. Also there have been 150 downloads of the files required for integrating SP2 so at least that many have run the process on a x86 box. Do the actual executable files for KB971032 et al get copied to \AMD64\SVCPACK when you run the process on your x86 box?
  19. Genu: Are you finding that the show desktop icon is missing after a clean install using this guide? Is so please attach your last session.ini as the reason those commands are there is to fix the error with the show desktop icon. JohnHC: Yes I looked at the option of creating a log file in just that manner, but decided that it was more important to provide visual feedback to any watching user.
  20. 21. Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy ... Sorry, couldn't help myself, but on a more serious note I've made working images (for VM and my main rig) at 2.66GB just using the nLite imager (added Nero 6 OEM). What I have had happen was that I integrated the wrong drivers for my previous (now my parent's) box, then it would boot on any machine except the one it was made for.
  22. If you care to browse through the various options for Internet Explorer you will see that it's required location varies, short answer: IE7 requires that it be at Run1, with IE8 & IE6 it can be integrated (actually svcpack), though of course they can also have it at Run1.

Added details for IE6 and WMP10 3. Added torent for users of 5eraph's pack 4. Changed from eSnips to MediaFire for hosting (one can only take so many upload failures). 5. Added Adobe Shockwave (via 3rd party link) and UltraGet video downloader to the supported files list. 6. Kelsenellenelvian has put out a nice control panel bonus pack
  24. Blizz: Link fixed babudeoha and _other_: Might I ask you two to PM each other with a list of possibly interfering software that you have installed, particularly security software and/or anything to do with the optical drives (burning programs / drivers / emulators). Something is causing the process to fail and as most users remain unaffected it seems likely that a common program on your systems is the culprit.
