Yeah it is just a bit pricey.What with a monitor and speaker system your spending about $1500 and then it's gotten bigger so actually a laptop might be better.I think $600 would get me to change my mind........

Hi Mo, While in safe mode,try this; put your Windows XP cd in the tray and load.Then go to start/run then type in "SFC /scannow"(without quotes).Make sure you put a space after SFC.This should repair any corrupt startup files you may have.Hopefully it will work from safe mode..........Zipp

If your larger drive is a Seagate you can download Seatools for free.Really easy to use.Or buy Drive Copy by PowerQuest.You may be able to download an older copy for free somewhere.

Thanks for the pondering guys.I ran gpedit.msc where I was fooling around with settings and discovered that the User configuration/Windows component/Windows Update was enabled so I disabled it and Windows Update works just as it did before.I had a brain fart as to where I changed settings...............Zipp

Hi All, This is strange.When I go to check on windows updates I get an Access Denied "Network policy setting prevent you from using windows update on this computer etc."From time to time I mess with settings but I don't know where to look to correct this.I am the only user set up here at home,running winxp pro.Can someone help with this problem?..............Thanks Zipp

I finnally figured it out(actually about a month ago) how to get rid of the choppiness while playing cd's.From the device manager click on the cd player in stalled then properties and uncheck the "enable digital cd audio for this cd rom device" that will take care of it.Same thing happened on my w2kpro system and same positive results....................zipp51.....Oh yeah and disable digital cd playback in win media player as well.

Hey Datamonkey I have the same problem with my cd's skipping,wheather I run it on media player,ATI's player,or Realplayer the cd skips.My machine definitley meets the specs.So the way I get around this is I load the cd in the tray and use the second button from the right to close the tray back and no player is initialized but the cd is playing perfectly.To skip to the next track push the same button,and use either the volume control on your speakers or on your cd player.I have an Acer 50x player which I believe is not compatible with XP.I used this player in another sys I have running win2k pro and the same thing happened.I installed an older 24x generic which happens to be an Acer product and voila no problems.I checked the model numbers of the 24x against the HCL and it says it's compatible.Try the work around I mentioned,you won't have the fancy player gui but it won't skip either...............good luck ........................Zipp

Jay,try to run your camera with windows movie maker.If it still freezes try uninstalling the movie maker and the reinstalling it...................worth a try?......................zipp

Jay do you have driver version 5.1.2600.I have the same camera and got the drivers from some where out there.I remember that intel will send you the create and share software that goes with the xp drivers for a few bucks. My camera works good no problems.I had more problems running the cam on win 98se.................zipp

Tom,you could dual boot with win2k or win98se so you can have the stability of xp and use those older games on win9x.I agree with others here that you can run under it's compatability mode and to have the latest drivers installed.However some older win9x games will not work no matter what you do,hence the dual boot best of both worlds method.Eventually software will catch up,and then there will be a new (64 bit) operating system to contend with......................good luck................zipp

Funny thing FthrJack I have 2 ATI cards ,Rage Fury running on winxp and a Radeon 64mb Vivo running for now on win98se and I have'nt had a problem with either.What got me interested in the Nvidia card was it's price and TV out feature and also the overclocking utilities.As long as the flashes at boot up are the only problem I won't complain but I reserve that right lol........................Thanks again Zipp

Thanks to all for the replies.Elite these are silent flashes then the monitor clicks to change it's resolution.I called Leadtek and they didn't know(of course) what it was but they suggested that I download the latest Detonator drivers from Nvidia.I am considering doing just that.The card works fine other than the bug mentioned so it will depend on a coin toss..................Thanks....................Zipp
