  1. That's my problem, that's checked and it started requiring one anyway. Tried it and no luck. The password is still required. Any other ideas?
  2. No, I set it from the link in screen saver options. I'll give that shot when I get home.
  3. This is the second vista machine I've had this happen to. It works great for a few weeks then for seemingly no reason starts requiring a password when coming out of standby. I have it set to not require a password and have tried toggling the setting to see if that would fix it but no luck. Both machines I've done this to have been vlited but I don't think very much was taken out and like I said, both worked fine for weeks. Any ideas? Both are 64 bit business.
  4. No offense to those who have posted already but can someone who has this through official channels confirm the MD5?
  5. Links to download it from MS: [REMOVED]
  6. What is the expiration for the NDA?
  7. Yes, and no, I cannot . I wonder if anyone, certainly not you, will be posting an anonymous torrent since this is of course freeware...
  8. Do you even know what RTM means? No one said it was available.

  10. http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=11555 Now where can we find it?
  11. That's a great idea. i miss having all the settings in .ini files from win311
  12. I installed a copy of Vista business that I haven't yet activated. Since installing I got a free copy of ultimate from the "heroes happen here" event. If I change the product key to that of the ultimate version will I have ultimate or will I have to reinstall to get the added features?
  13. I just installed my first production 2008 (x64) system yesterday and so far the results have been overwhelmingly positive.
  14. I'm not sure if there is a way yet. vlite doesn't do it and there's not service pack switch for it either.
  15. We have a number of users who have issues with vista and cisco vpn client so you're not alone. The sp1 final is out actually so I may have to give that a try.
  16. I didn't read this whole thread so I don't know if it was mentioned before but the ability to permanently disable the organize/views toolbar in explorer and turn on the file/edit/etc toolbar would be very nice.

Same here, I finally maxed out the M4 for the pretty red camo and am working on the same for the M16.
  18. No good anyway, the promotion ended last week. They will still let you spend 15 minutes filling out there survey and let you download their spyware for free afterwards but no vista or xp licenses anymore. I found out too late.
  19. I looked at that one before myself but unfortunately it doesn't have gigabits. I just spent a lot of money on other stuff this weekend and now I'm feeling poor so I'm trying once again to get WOL to work properly so maybe I can avoid having a nas all together. $200 also buys a lot of electricity.
  20. I'm looking for a nas that holds a single 3.5" drive, has and has a gigabit ethernet connection for home use. The ability to share printers from it would be nice but not completely necessary. I don't know if I'm going to find this but one that doesn't come with a drive would be nice but again, not necessary. I've got plenty of extra sata drives laying around and would rather not have to pay for yet another one if I don't have to. I know about freenas but I'd rather not have to use a PC because of the power consumption. EDIT: This looks nice, can anyone recommend something better? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822165040
  21. Symantic is a horrible company with a great marketing department. Apart from ghost they haven't made a good product since the windows 95 days. Even that has not really been updated in many years, at this point Acronis would be a better way to go. They have bought out plenty of companies that did make good software and run them into the ground. Powerquest and @Stake to name a couple. I do some side consulting for a small graphics company who unfortunately bought Symantec antivirus and exchange protection before I could advise them otherwise. I've had to bill them for many 'emergency' hours just in the last year just for Symantec licensing issues. Yes, they are legal but Symantec certainly doesn't treat them that way.
