  1. That's what I did. I just hoping to find a way so as to not have to do that. Oh well.
  2. Yes, I know there are many hacks around this by using existing partitions, going to diskpart etc but is there a way, perhaps via a setting in autounattend.xml or hacking boot.wim so tomfoolery doesn't have to be utilized every time? Also, before someone complains about 100mb not being that much space, it isn't the space I'm concerned about. I want my os partitions and system partitions to be the same. For instance, this causes trouble in Ghost corporate when one only has the option to image a single partition or a whole disk.
  3. Sp2 and integrated sp2 isos just showed up on the MS volume license site.
  4. I gather what you're saying but that still has nothing to do with where the installation media comes from. For instance, if I have a vista license tied to a pc, that doesn't mean that I can't legally reinstall the same version of that operating system on the same pc from different media, especially true considering most corporate PCs don't come with an actual dvd of the installation media.
  5. That's why it's important to know the correct hash values and not to use anything that doesn't match. I said "as long as you own a valid license". Due the current crappy economy my company canceled its msdn subscription. That doesn't mean that our hundreds of OS licenses still aren't legal. I've seen no where in the EULA that I have to download the software from MS and not anywhere else. If you can show me proof of your claim I'll gladly concede.
  6. If he owns a vista license it's not warez no matter where he gets the actual installation media from. This has been argued OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN! ANY source but MS or an official distributer is illegal, even if it is only a OS disk! Thats like saying "I still have my keys from that Jaguar I wrecked, maybe I'll just go use his." It's people like you and attitudes like yours that is the reason the vLite and nLite are so close to being shut down... I'm sorry but you're just an id***.

  8. The only reason to use vista 32 is if you're installing on some old P4 or intel atom that isn't x64 capable.

  10. It doesn't like vlited vista installs, even if you only took out the really minimal thing. Did you vlite?
  11. The only things I've found that cause issues are removing the manual setup and customizing the owner info.
  12. could u post ur ini This would not install on the 4gb disk on my eee but I installed it to a vm and ghosted it to my eee without a problem. I did end up quickly going back to xp though because win7 wouldn't allow the power management utility to launch, even in compatibility mode and as admin. Too bad that this utility is a deal breaker for win7, at least for now because all the drivers installed just fine. Without system restore, hibernation and having my pagefile on another drive this install is 2.75gb ; vLite preset file ; ;#Environment: ; vLite v1.2 ; Framework 2.0.50727.1434 ; Microsoft Windows NT 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 64-bit ; ;#Target: ; Windows Vista BUSINESS 32-bit ; Version 6.1 English (United States) ; [Compatibility] ACDSee / XnView DriveimageXML DVD Treasury Halo 2 Hauppauge WinTV KMPlayer Logitech Setpoint MediaPortal Perfect World Client Zoom Player Aero Glass File and printer sharing (Server) Internet Explorer Internet Information Services (IIS) Recommended Scanners and Cameras System Restore Windows Fax and Scan Windows Update [CustomHide] [Components] ;# Accessories # Accessibility Games-Inbox Games Games-Premium Inbox Games Speech Support ;# Drivers # Diva Server Modems QLogic Fibre Channel Adapter Scanners TV Tuners-ADS Technologies TV Tuners-ASUSTeK Computer Inc. 13. I found one of the things that was causing it not to boot was the removal of manual install. Without pagefile and hibernation I'm now just under 3gb installed and working on getting it smaller.
  14. Successfully vlited win7. I need to work on taking a few more things out though to get it to fit comfortably on a 4gb eee drive though. It tough because it's very picky about what can be taken out and still have it install. I'll also do business instead of ultimate this time. I really don't see much of a need for media center on an eee.
  15. Would it be possible to do aero hacks in vlite? I found instructions here to auto hide it and figured out for myself how to disable it altogether. I changed this: <style resid="FolderBandStyle"> <if mousefocused="false" mousewithin="false"><Element padding="rect(0rp,0rp,0rp,-28rp)"/></if> <Element background="argb(0, 0, 0, 0)" /> to this: [<style resid="FolderBandStyle"> <if mousefocused="false" mousewithin="false"><Element padding="rect(-28rp,-28rp,-28rp,-28rp)"/></if> <Element background="argb(0, 0, 0, 0)" /> I don't know if my way is the best way to completely disable it but it works. This would be especially nice for netbooks as screen real estate is at a premium with those. This hack works on x86 and x64 versions of vista, same with windows 7. Although for x64 reshacker won't work but you can get a trial of Restorator 2007 and use that.
  16. On a similar note, is there something like a ryanvm update pack for vista? Or does one have to find and download all the individual fixes?
  17. I was trying too, also to shrink it for eee installation. I was able to compile an iso but it wouldn't boot. I guess I could try it again and be a little more conservative with respect to what I take out.
  18. Sure it does. Who are you to say that anyone here is not an MS employee or an authorized OEM? And who are you to question what I typed? Someone who might legally have it. So what's the point of your question? I know some might have it legally, but the rest are not. My point is that it does legally exist and that you are wrong for saying it does not.

  21. Couldn't find the issue, went back to an earlier ghost.
